Chapter 9 - introduction 2

That's a really

"Just who the hell are you, and who is this kid?!" Tessal shouted, voice cracking between fear and fury. His hands trembled at his sides, clenching and unclenching as though he wanted to grab one of his bugs—but what good would they do against this mountain of a man?

Garp raised an eyebrow, his shadow looming over Tessal like a stormcloud. "Hoh? You don't know me?" His grin spread wide, teeth like boulders. "Guess the seas really are crawling with greenhorns these days."

"Quit posturing! Just answer him already!" Ace barked.

Luffy tilted his head, scratching his cheek. "That's Gramps! He's, uh… really strong and kinda scary, but also super loud!"

The words sank like a stone in Tessal's stomach. Gramps? He stared at Garp, then at Luffy. They didn't look alike at all, and yet the casual way Luffy said it left no room for doubt. This wasn't just some stranger—this was family.

Garp grunted, rolling his jaw as if weighing how much to say. "Name's Monkey D. Garp. Vice Admiral of the Navy." He jerked a thumb toward Luffy. "And that brat's my grandson."

The revelation hit Tessal sideways. Navy? The Navy? He swallowed hard, blurting before he could stop himself: "Wait—you're Vice Admiral Garp? The Hero of the Marines?" His voice cracked again, caught between awe and disbelief. Then his chest puffed, almost defiantly. "Wait… then you must know my dad!"

Ace and Luffy froze, stunned by the sudden declaration. But Garp's expression hardened, the grin slipping just slightly. "Your father, huh? And who would that be, kid?"

Tessal straightened, pride shining in his eyes. "His name's Albert. He was hired to teach and improve the Navy's science division. He works at Headquarters as a researcher."

The name seemed to strike Garp like a stone to the chest. For once, the old man's booming confidence faltered.
