With everything brought under the control of Chucky's family, most of the immediate crises had been solved by Orgondo.
After settling affairs, Orgondo left a note on the table and departed on a long journey — traveling from region to region with a promise to return when his work was done.
When Euka found the note, she ran to Chucky in alarm.
"Orgondo's gone traveling to finish his tasks," she said, voice trembling. "But I'm worried — those mad aliens made by the Ooka tribe are still out there."
Chucky clasped her hand. "Don't worry about the mad aliens. I've been away all last week on missions to wipe them out.
Everything is under control now. Leio has also rebuilt the Door — if the aliens rise again, we'll use it to protect the tribes."
Euka asked, "When did you do all this? Why did you tell me?"
Chucky smiled sadly. "My Euka, our enemy fell because of our eldest son, Obrigado. When he learned the tribes' plans, he acted. I intend to arm up and finish the alien problem — to put an end to the tribal unrest."
Euka smiled through tears. "You see how responsible our children are. They carry our hopes."
Six days later, Obrigado reached the tent where a man kept Ruka hidden — the man Leio had arranged to guard her. Obrigado stared at Ruka, then turned to the man.
"You did well," he said, "you can leave now. I'll stay. I need to hear the truth about Zaid."
Before the man left, he told Obrigado, "She keeps saying in her dreams: 'Chucky, I will destroy you with my own hands — you killed my child and my husband.'"
"Thanks for telling me," Obrigado said. He offered the man some fruit and a simple rice curry, then sat with Ruka.
Ruka spat in his face. "Why didn't you kill me when you had the chance? I'm your enemy. If I escape, I will kill your father, Chucky."
Obrigado calmly wiped her face as if nothing had happened. He allowed her to eat. Then, his tone hardened.
"I won't be polite anymore," he told her. "I'm going to be strict until I know the truth."
Ruka sneered, "I'll tell the truth to your father when I kill him."
"Do you think killing him will bring you anything but regret?" Obrigado asked. "I've already warned you."
"All right," she said. "I'll tell you Zaid's story — if you have the courage to listen."
She began.
"When Zaid was just sixteen, we lived near the Yellow Door. One day, a giant alien destroyed the door and poured through.
The creature ate human souls. I remember, from childhood, robber-men had killed my family — Zaid was brave even then.
He never thought of himself; he always thought of others. These aliens came from the nation of Serian. They despised anything connected to Ario."
Chucky had once warned them all about Zaid, but the truth went deeper. According to Ruka, Chucky's suspicion grew into action:
he followed Zaid. One night, when Obrigado was away and Zaid's group thought themselves safe, Chucky moved to kill Ruka.
"She asked for water," Ruka continued, voice thin. "Obrigado tied her in the tent to guard her and went to gather water. While he was away, Chucky saw his chance."
Chucky had planned it all — he thought it the perfect moment to remove the threat.
He drew his Voldseer blade, blade plugged and ready, entered the tent and said, "Are you Ruka? Life has been cruel to you. I sent your husband away — farewell."
He raised the blade to strike. But Obrigado returned in time. He grabbed the sword blade with his bare hands.
"Why, Father?" Obrigado cried. "Why spill Ruka's blood? I know things about Zaid."
Chucky barked, "Release the sword and let me finish. If she lives, I will always fear death."
"I will not do it," Obrigado said. "I will not kill her."
He loosened Ruka's mouth and demanded the truth. Ruka refused to give the full account. Obrigado seized her and ran — leaving Chucky enraged, shouting, "What have you done, Obrigado? I never expected this of you! Now the water is up to our heads."
