Chapter 57 - Hidden Glances and Reckless Hearts (2)

Sara's heart pounded like a drum inside that tiny stall. The girls outside were still talking about lipstick shades, shoot timings, and a missing hairbrush.

Meanwhile, Kairo was leaning against the door, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Stay quiet," she whispered, glaring at him.

He smirked, his voice a husky whisper. "You think I'd ruin our little secret now?"

"Knowing you?" she hissed, "I wouldn't be surprised."

He bit back a laugh, but his shoulders shook. She jabbed his ribs with her elbow, making him stifle a muffled "oww!" that almost gave them away.

The two of them froze as one of the girls paused right outside the stall door. Sara shut her eyes, praying.

"Hmm, weird… thought I heard something," the girl murmured.

Kairo leaned to her ear, whispering barely audibly, "Yeah, two people trying not to die from love."

Sara smacked his chest with her palm, barely holding back her laughter.

The girl finally left, the door clicked, and silence filled the space again. Sara exhaled, clutching her chest. "You are absolutely insane, Kairo."

He only grinned, stepping closer. "You married me. That makes you my partner in crime."

She narrowed her eyes. "Remind me to never trust you near any ladies' washroom ever again."

"Can't promise that," he teased, bending to peck her nose. "You look too good when you panic."

He leaned in, pinning her to the wall again.

"Behave, asshole. You need to get out of here," she hissed.

He ignored her, kissing her again like an addicted man. She hit him, trying to push him away, but he held her firmly, and eventually, she gave in. When he pulled back, panting, his green eyes sparkled like he was drunk on her.

"Trust me… I'm so horny right now. I want to cancel everything and take you to the bedroom… love you until I have no energy left," he murmured.

She pushed him, panicking. "Fuck you… let's get out of here first."

He chuckled and leaned in to kiss her again, but she bent her knees just in time, hitting him gently in the balls.

"Oww… that hurts! This is abuse. You shouldn't hit your husband there," he complained, clutching himself dramatically.

She laughed at his act. Seeing him with those painful eyes, her heart melted. "Oh… did I hurt that bad? I'm sorry," she said softly.

He groaned. "I need compensation for this abuse," he whispered, still wincing.

She giggled. "Okay… what does my husband want me to do?"

His pain vanished instantly, replaced by that mischievous glint in his eyes. "I'll ask when the time is right," he said, smirking.

She gave him a side-eye. He immediately turned back to his dramatic pain act.

"Fine… now let's get out of here," she warned.

He nodded obediently, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

She opened the door cautiously and peeking outside. The coast was clear. "Now behave and act normal," she whispered.

"Yes, ma'am," he said with a mock salute.

As they slipped out one after another, Sara walked straight ahead, pretending nothing happened. Kairo followed, just a few steps behind, biting back a smug smile.

When she reached the set, Ben looked up. "Sara, you okay? You were gone for a while."

"Uh, yeah. Washroom line," she said quickly, smoothing her hair.

Kairo passed by at that exact moment, pretending to adjust his sleeves. Their eyes met, his holding that familiar teasing spark. She gave him a warning look that only made his grin widen.

Selena waved a clipboard at him. "Sir, can we go through the final scene notes?"

"Sure," he said, taking the file, but his gaze still lingered on Sara across the room.

Every now and then, he'd sneak a look at her, and each time, she'd roll her eyes and mouth Stop staring. He'd just wink.

When the camera test finally wrapped, she gathered her files, trying to act casual. But the second she stood near his chair, he murmured under his breath, "You look good in beige… though I prefer what was under it last night."

She froze mid-step, shooting him a sharp look. "Kairo!" she whispered.

He leaned closer, whispering against her ear, "Relax. Only you could make me want to break office rules."

"Keep talking like that and I'll report you to HR," she said, pretending to scribble on her clipboard, though the faint smile tugging her lips betrayed her.

He chuckled, low and satisfied. "My wife's gonna file a complaint for loving her too much. How tragic."

Sara turned to him, lowering her voice. "You're lucky no one knows about us yet."

He smiled, leaning close enough for her to feel his breath. "They'll find out eventually."

"And then what?"

"Then," he whispered, his eyes locking on her lips, "no more hiding in the washroom just to kiss you."

Her expression softened despite herself. "Shameless," she muttered, shaking her head.

"Completely," he replied.

Before walking off, she smirked slightly, "By the way… if you ever try sneaking into the ladies' washroom again..."

He raised a brow. "Again, what?"

She leaned closer, whispering just for him, "I'll lock you in there next time."

He laughed quietly, eyes gleaming. "Worth it."

That evening, when the shoot finally ended, they walked toward the parking lot side by side, no one suspecting anything. But his hand brushed hers, fingers linking for just a second before he let go again. That one brief touch was enough to say what words couldn't, that no matter how reckless or chaotic, their love had found its rhythm again.

After a long day at the office, Liana decided to stop by a quaint little coffee shop tucked along the quiet streets. She loved the calm, the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans, and the soft hum of conversations that felt distant yet comforting. Sliding into a seat by the glass wall, she let the late afternoon sunlight warm her face as she took a slow sip of her cappuccino.

Her phone buzzed, and she smiled when she saw the caller.

"Hi, Kael," she answered with a smile.

"Mom… where are you?" he asked.

"On my way home, just stopping for a coffee," Liana replied.

"Mom, I wanted to tell you, my new friend Nolan invited me for a sleepover. I just wanted to let you know," he said.

"Kael…" Liana dragged out his name slowly. "You're new here and already…"

"Mom, please! I'm fifteen now… Stop treating me like a kid!" he whined.

Liana sighed, a soft smile tugging at her lips. "Okay… But send me the address and share your live location when you reach. And make sure you do a video call in between, alright?"

"Okay, Mom. Done!" he said cheerfully.

"Alright, take care," she said softly.

"Thanks, Mumma! I love you!" he said excitedly.

Liana smiled, "I love you too, sweetheart." The call ended, and she took another sip of her coffee, content.

"A strong cappuccino, please," a voice echoed from the counter.

Liana's hand froze mid-air. That voice… familiar, yet distant. Her eyes drifted toward the counter, and her heart skipped a beat.

"Charles…" she whispered under her breath.

As he collected his order and began walking toward the tables. Their eyes met, her green eyes, shimmering with stories of years long buried, and his, burning with a mix of anger and pain. Fifteen years of regrets and betrayals flashed between them.

For a moment, he froze. The intensity of his gaze shook her to the core, and his hands trembled due to the rushing emotions. The tray wobbled, and the coffee slipped, spilling across the floor.

"Omg… Sir! Are you okay?" a staff member rushed toward him.

But his attention didn't shift. He couldn't look away from those green eyes.

Liana didn't wait another second. She pushed back her chair and bolted from the café, heart racing.

Charles watched her disappear, his eyes following her until she vanished completely, leaving a storm of emotion swirling in the space she had left behind.
