Chapter 9 - Chapter nine: The long lost friend

While we where talking, my gaze suddenly fell upon the shining pendant around Abrum's neck. When I looked closely I saw that "IT SAYS LYCAN'S". I blinked twice in disbelief but my eyes already know that I saw it right!!.

Her words fell softly, wrapped in amazement and puzzlement as she looked at Abrum. she said, "This pendant!! how did you get it?".

He placed his hand on the pendant, a faint shadow crossing his face as he answered her, "This pendant? It's one of the last heirloom that my mother give me! why have you seen one before?".

She immediately shake her head, denying him and said, "No no I haven't saw anything like this before, I asked because it looks very unique!".

Abrum replies with softness for her in his eyes, "ohh yes!! only the lycan's family have this pendant, that's why it's very unique and rare".

As soon as Abrum's words reached her ears, she got lost in the questions roaming around her mind related to the pendant. She didn't notice that Abrum called her name twice, then she snapped out of her thoughts and said, "Oh yes! it probably is rare!!".

"I think I should leave now!! otherwise the old master would be enraged again!". Abrum said.

Old Master?. Alara asked in a perplexed tone.

"OH! I forgot to tell you, the old master is like a guardian to me!! He took me in when I was 15 and raised me as his own ever since that time". Abrum answered alara's question with a soft smile.

"Ohh I see! I would love to meet him someday, if it's okay?". Alara asked Abrum .

"OH Yess! why not! but for now I'll be going, take care". Abrum said with cold yet warm eyes.

With hope in her gaze, Alara adored him as though he had always been a part of her life. As she said, "Yes sure!! come back soon".

Her eyes followed Abrum's fading figure, and under her breath, she murmured, "I'll be waiting."

Alara's POV:

That night, Alara was standing before the balcony of her room, under the moonlight, she saw her father (The king) talking to one of his old friend, I saw him after years but I was a bit bewildered, because he live so far from our castle and only came when there's a special occasion but last year I didn't see him in the masquerade ball!! and when I asked father about him, so he told me that, they're busy with a war between their rivals there!! so why did he come just four days before the masquerade ball, is he gonna be there?.

Later in the evening next day:

When she was sitting in her room, doing her hairs. She heard a knock on the door if her room. She immediately stand ups from the chair of her dressing table and opened the door, one of the servant was there standing tall. He said, "My lady!! your majesty is asking for you in the great hall".

"Im coming!". She said to the servant .As she walked toward the great hall where the King awaited, Alara's thoughts tangled restlessly. The pendant, the mysterious surprise, and the king's long-lost friend who had re
