Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Fire and Confession

Selena paced the length of her apartment, the stranger's words echoing like a ghost in her ears.

> You don't know who he really is, do you?

Her phone sat on the table, silent now, as if mocking her. She wanted to ignore it, pretend it was some prank, but her heart wouldn't let her. The doubt gnawed at her, threatening to ruin everything she had begun to feel.

When the knock came at her door, she nearly jumped out of her skin.

She opened it to find Nolan standing there, his hair slightly disheveled, his shirt clinging to him as if he had run here. His eyes locked onto hers with fierce urgency.

"You didn't answer my texts," he said, stepping inside without waiting for permission. "I was worried."

Selena folded her arms, trying to hold on to her resolve. "Nolan, we need to talk."

His brows furrowed. "About what?"

Her voice trembled as she asked, "Who are you, really?"

For a moment, silence stretched between them. His jaw tightened, his gaze searching hers, as though weighing whether she could handle the truth.

"Why are you asking me this now?" he asked finally.

"Because someone called me," she whispered. "They said… they said I don't know who you really are."

His expression darkened instantly, shadows flickering in his eyes. He cursed under his breath and ran a hand through his hair. "Damn it."

Selena's heart raced. "So they were right? You're hiding something from me."

He closed the distance between them, his hand cupping her face. "Selena, listen to me. I didn't lie about who I am. But there are parts of my life—parts I'm not proud of—that I haven't told you yet. I was waiting for the right time."

Her lips parted, questions rising, but his thumb brushed against her cheek, softening her resistance.

"I can't lose you," he said hoarsely. "I've never wanted someone the way I want you. That terrifies me, Selena. You terrify me."

Her breath caught. "Why would I terrify you?"

"Because you make me feel like I could be more than the man I've been," he confessed, his voice breaking at the edges. "And if you walk away, I don't know what I'll do."

The raw honesty in his tone pierced through her doubts. Her hands trembled as they rose to his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath her palms.

"I'm scared too," she admitted. "Scared of falling too hard, too fast. But I can't stop."

His lips found hers then, crushing away the distance, the fear, the doubt. The kiss was desperate, hungry, as though he was pouring every unsaid word into it. She melted against him, her fingers clutching at his shirt as he lifted her effortlessly into his arms.

He carried her to the bedroom, laying her gently on the sheets. His mouth traced fire down her neck, his hands exploring with reverence and need.

Selena arched beneath him, her moans muffled against his shoulder. "Nolan…"

"Say it again," he groaned, his lips brushing over her collarbone.

"Nolan," she gasped, her body trembling as his touch ignited her in ways no one ever had.

Their clothes fell away piece by piece, each kiss deeper, each touch more urgent. He worshiped her body as though memorizing every curve, every sigh. His lips found her breast, teasing her nipple until she writhed, a cry escaping her lips.

She tugged him closer, her fingers threading through his hair as his mouth traveled lower, lower—her breath hitching when his tongue flicked against her most sensitive spot. Her thighs quivered, her back arching as waves of pleasure rolled through her.

"Nolan!" she moaned, shattering in his arms.

He came back to her lips, kissing her deeply, passionately, as though tasting her release. "You're mine, Selena. Every part of you."

Her eyes fluttered open, glassy with desire. "And you're mine."

He entered her slowly, deliberately, groaning against her neck at the feel of her. Selena gasped, clinging to him, their bodies moving together in a rhythm that felt timeless, primal, inevitable.

Each thrust drew out moans and whimpers, their voices blending in the heat of the night. Sweat slicked their skin, hearts racing, the world shrinking to nothing but them.

It wasn't just sex—it was something deeper, something that carved itself into memory. Every groan, every whispered name was a vow.

As the waves crashed over them, Selena cried out, her nails digging into his back, Nolan's own release following with a guttural groan of her name.

They collapsed together, bodies trembling, chests heaving. For a long time, neither spoke, the silence filled only with the sound of their breathing.

Nolan kissed her forehead softly. "I meant what I said. I don't want to lose you."

Selena pressed her lips to his shoulder, her heart aching with a mixture of love and fear.

Then, in the quiet, his phone buzzed on the nightstand.

They both turned to look.

Selena's blood ran cold when she saw the name glowing on the screen. A woman's name.

Nolan cursed under his breath, reaching for the phone. But Selena's hand shot out, stopping him.

"Who is she?" she whispered, her voice trembling.

The cracks widened.

Chapter 13 blended passion and truth. Nolan finally opened up, showing his fear and vulnerability. But just as they deepen their bond, another shadow intrudes—this time in the form of a mysterious woman's name.
