"What are you planning, Grandfather?" he muttered, more to himself than to anyone else.
"What are you still waiting for?" Adrian asked coolly, his gaze drifting toward Amelia without turning his head.
Amelia stiffened.
"I'm leaving," she said flatly.
She stepped forward and dropped the file, the one the terrified staff member had begged her to deliver, onto Adrian's desk. The papers landed with a soft thud, deliberate and final. Without another word, she turned and walked out of the office.
Just before the door closed, she shot him a sharp glare over her shoulder. Quick. Defiant.
Adrian saw it.
But this wasn't the time to deal with a spoiled sister or bruised egos.
This was about Elias Blake.
Adrian rose from his chair, his movements unhurried, the calm before a storm. The irritation in his eyes had cooled into something far more dangerous, focus.
He straightened his suit and walked out of the office without looking back.
