Chapter 37 – The Tyrant and the Pink Menace
Sunny's POV
Shells Town was a powder keg waiting for a spark.
Lucy, naturally, decided she was the spark.
She marched straight toward the Marine base after our little scene with Zoro, yelling, "HEY! I'm here to recruit that guy! And I refuse any refusals!"
The guards practically fell over. "What kind of idiot declares something like that in front of HQ?!"
Nami groaned into her hands. "Why am I stuck with her? Why?!"
Koby was pale but trying to be brave. "I-I… I should report to the Marines properly… but…" His eyes flicked to Zoro chained against the wall, to Lucy puffing her chest, and to me, standing calmly like nothing was wrong. "…But maybe they really are right about Morgan being a tyrant."
He clenched his fists. "I want to see for myself."
I gave him a nod. "That's the spirit. Truth first. Then action."
{Ego}: "Bah. Crush them and be done with it."
[System]: "Heehee~ don't listen to her, Sunny! Watching you stand back and judge like a king is sooo hot ♥."
Helmeppo's Entrance
And then he showed up.
Helmeppo. Captain Morgan's son. Walking down the street like he owned the world, chin tilted so far back he was practically looking at the sky.
Behind him marched Marines carrying crates, clearly loot taken from terrified townsfolk.
Lucy tilted her head. "…Why's that guy walking like a chicken that swallowed a stick?"
I nearly choked.
Nami coughed into her hand to hide a laugh. "Don't. Just… don't."
Koby's face darkened. "That's… that's Helmeppo, Captain Morgan's son. He—he's the one who had Zoro tied up here in the first place!"
Helmeppo stopped in front of us, smirking like royalty. "Oh? Outsiders? Don't you know the rules? You should bow when I pass!"
Lucy planted her fists on her hips. "I refuse your refusal to bow!"
"Eh?!"
The Marines behind him froze, eyes darting between the idiot princess and the spoiled prince.
I almost pitied them. Almost.
Helmeppo puffed up. "Y-you dare insult me? Don't you know who I am?!"
Lucy cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled back at Zoro, "Hey! Is this the guy you promised something to?"
Zoro's glare was sharp enough to cut chains. "…Yeah. He said if I survived a month tied up here without food, he'd let me go."
Lucy stomped forward, pointing at Helmeppo. "So basically you're a liar!"
Helmeppo's jaw dropped. "Wha—NO! I'm… I'm not lying! I was totally gonna keep my word!"
Even his Marines looked doubtful.
Koby muttered, "He's… he's lying. I've seen it before."
Helmeppo spun on him. "What was that, you pink-haired shrimp?!"
Koby flinched but stood taller. "I said—you're lying! You're abusing your father's power! That's not justice!"
The whole street went silent.
My lips curled in a smile. Courage like that deserved respect.
Morgan Appears
And right on cue, the tyrant himself stormed out of HQ.
Captain Morgan. Towering, axe-arm gleaming in the sunlight, chin so massive it deserved its own zip code. His presence pressed down on the crowd—not real Haki, just the weight of fear.
Lucy tilted her head again. "…Why does his face look like a hammer got tired and gave up halfway?"
Nami bit her lip to keep from snorting. Even Zoro cracked the faintest smirk.
Morgan barked, "WHO DARES DISTURB THE PEACE OF MY TOWN?!"
Lucy threw her arm up dramatically. "It's me! Straw Hat Lucy! Future King—uh, Queen—of the Pirates!"
The townsfolk gasped. The Marines whispered. Nami muttered, "Oh my god, she actually said it."
Morgan's one good eye bulged. "A pirate? Here?!"
He slammed his axe-arm into the ground, splitting the stone. "KILL THEM ALL!"
The Fight
And chaos erupted.
Marines charged. Townsfolk scattered. Lucy laughed like a maniac, throwing herself into the fray with fists flying. "I refuse your attacks!" POW! "And I refuse your swords!" BAM!
Nami ducked under a swing, whacking a Marine with her staff. "You are a disaster, Lucy!"
Koby was trembling but still trying, yelling at Marines to stop their tyranny, only to trip over his own feet.
And Zoro… he was still chained, grinning savagely. "Oi. Straw Hat. Get me my swords, and I'll clean this mess up."
Lucy pointed right back at him mid-fight. "Deal! You're joining my crew!"
"Like hell I am!"
I watched it all quietly, leaning against a wall.
My Haki spread through the battlefield, threads of will dancing like invisible strings. I let it flow—enough to keep bullets veering wide of Nami, enough to weaken blades before they struck Lucy. Subtle. Protective. But not interfering with their growth.
I wasn't here to fight today. I was here to observe.
And then Helmeppo squealed. "F-father! Do something! They're ruining everything!"
Morgan raised his axe, roaring.
That's when Zoro broke free.
The roar of chains snapping. The flash of steel as Lucy tossed him his swords. The explosion of killing intent that rolled out like thunder.
Even my Haki stirred in respect.
Zoro stood tall, blades at his side, and promised in that calm, deadly voice: "Anyone who stands in my way—I'll cut down."
The End of Tyranny
The battle turned in an instant. Marines fell left and right to Zoro's strikes, Lucy's fists, and Nami's sharp tactics.
Morgan swung his axe with all the force of a tyrant's pride—only to meet Zoro's steel. One clash. Two. Three. Then the giant Marine captain toppled like a felled tree.
Lucy jumped up, cheering. "We did it! I mean—Zoro did it! But I helped! So it was us!"
Helmeppo's face went white. "F-father?!"
He tried to run. Tried to crawl away. But Zoro's glare froze him in place.
And in that moment, I made my move.
My Haki slipped deeper—not into their bodies, but into their very souls. A subtle pull, unseen by all. When Morgan's last breath faded, and when Helmeppo's fear finally overtook him, I drew both essences into myself.
Two cold flames. Two fragments of tyranny and cowardice.
And into my inventory they went.
Nobody noticed. Not Lucy, not Nami, not Koby, not even Zoro.
Only me.
[A/N:If I think most of you know what Sunny is going to do with this 2 soul if you don't know basically Sunny going to torture them for long time]
And the voices inside.
{Ego}: "…Collecting souls now, are we? Hmph. Not bad."
[System]: "Kyaa~! My Sunny is sooo scary when he's quiet ♥ Keep feeding me more souls, okay?"
I exhaled slowly, eyes never leaving my friends.
Lucy was busy arguing with Zoro already.
Nami was counting fallen Marines' purses.
Koby was saluting the townsfolk like an actual Marine cadet.
And me?
I smiled. This world was finally starting to move.
