Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Simple Physical Testing

After the four sat down, they bowed their heads slightly for a pre-meal prayer, even Becky being very serious about it.

Henry was just going through the motions, not reciting a single word of the prayer.

In less than a minute, at Linda's signal, everyone officially began eating.

After a while, before Henry could ask, Linda proactively brought up her arrangements.

"Henry, I plan to pack up the things I need tomorrow, which might take two days. I can start leaving the day after tomorrow."

"I've fully entrusted lawyer Benjamin to handle the house matter. I'm giving you that Steinway piano, and I'm also entrusting Paul to you. Is that okay?"

Henry nodded and said, "Of course, I love Paul too. Thank you for the gift, Linda. I'll take good care of this piano."

Linda secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She really cared about this piano and Paul - the former was a token of love between her and Bryan Mills, the latter was family.

It's just that with two children and so much luggage, she really couldn't manage everything.

Henry immediately followed up: "Linda, it's too tiring and unsafe for you to travel alone with two children. I'll arrange for Pete and Mary to escort you to New York."

Linda asked in surprise: "Is that really possible?"

Henry nodded and said definitively: "Of course, and Pete has always said he owes Mary a honeymoon trip, so this kills two birds with one stone."

Linda was overjoyed and said: "That's wonderful, thank you, Henry."

Henry said gently: "It's my duty. If I weren't so tied up, I'd escort you personally for better safety."

Linda looked at Henry with emotion and said softly: "Henry, thank goodness for you."

Henry smiled slightly and said: "Linda, I read in the newspaper that New York is both heaven and hell. Be careful not to go to dangerous neighborhoods, and if you encounter any unavoidable trouble, send me a telegram immediately."

Linda's eyes visibly reddened as she nodded silently.

"I'll arrange with lawyer Benjamin to leave this piano for a while - I'll move it when I have time later. He'll also need time to handle the house matter."

Linda still nodded vigorously.

Henry said nothing more, focusing on his meal while mentally planning his actions for the next few days.

After dinner, Henry played with Becky and André for a while, leaving only when the two patrolling officers arrived.

Henry again checked the dried leaf wedged in his front door before carefully opening it and entering.

He went directly to the exercise room, put on boxing gloves, and practiced boxing for a while.

He used a 100-pound sandbag (about 45 kilograms), which shook with explosive vibrations under his fierce punches.

Then Henry practiced swift sword for a while.

Regarding swift swords, Europe had two major schools - Spanish and Italian, each with their strengths.

Spanish swordplay was called "Dance of Death" and "Mysterious Circle" - they called it the "Supreme Art," based on something called the "Mysterious Circle," precisely calculating the path of each attack, seeking to hit opponents at the most clever angles and fastest speeds without being hit.

Henry's LV4 swift sword was Spanish system swordplay - swift sword in right hand, parrying dagger in left.

After practicing for over an hour, Henry stopped to shower.

His most perplexing question now was exactly what level his twice-upgraded LV3 physical constitution had reached.

His home exercise room only had two 25-kilogram dumbbells, too light for him now and unable to accurately measure his changes.

The only thing he could confirm was that at 1.86 meters tall, his standing long jump was 4.22 meters and vertical jump about 1.2 meters.

But the problem was he didn't know what the world records were in his previous timeline, and there was no way to find out in this world - such records didn't seem to exist yet.

However, he estimated his level should be that of a top athlete.

By extension, his speed, reaction time, and strength should also be at this level.

After escorting Linda to Denver this time, he planned to thoroughly browse fitness equipment there, hoping to get a preliminary understanding of his body's limits.

After showering, seeing it was nearly 9 PM, Henry went out to the Phoenix Bar - no choice, what he'd eaten at Linda's was barely one-third filling.

When Henry pushed through the bar's narrow double swinging doors, the bar's clamor suddenly paused then erupted into even louder noise.

Henry looked around and found the bar was packed, with men standing densely around the bar counter.

This made him very satisfied - good business meant more dividends, and information would definitely be better too.

"Sheriff Henry, over here!" Thor at a window seat stood up and called out.

Henry noticed he was with another newly hired temporary officer named Hank - they must have come here to eat right after patrol.

So Henry changed from heading to his second-floor private room and walked toward Thor instead.

After Henry arrived, he took charge, sitting down first before saying: "Sit down. How was your patrol today? Getting used to it?"

After sitting down, Thor said enthusiastically: "Very good. I used to only occasionally come browse around, but today I discovered so many newly opened shops."

German-descended Hank had a full beard like the previous Henry, making the 25-year-old look like a man in his thirties.

Since he wasn't familiar with Henry yet, Hank was slightly uncomfortable.

Henry didn't mind and expertly rattled off a string of dishes to waitress Theresa.

A tavern or bar only had so many signature dishes, so it was still venison steak, beef steak, and bread.

After ordering, Theresa swayed away with a fragrant breeze in catwalking steps toward the kitchen, making Thor and Hank's gazes involuntarily follow her curves.

Henry had noticed that Western men's aesthetics were really different from his own. Just as he was about to tease the two, he caught a sharp gaze flash by from a card table ten meters away.

It was a weathered middle-aged man in his forties or fifties with graying temples, but his beard was neatly trimmed and his clothes very clean and tidy.

Wearing a blue wide-brimmed hat, equally loose wool shirt and black vest, he looked more like a lawyer than a cowboy.

This was mainly because his face was square, giving a strong impression of seriousness and respectability.

The large pile of coins and bills stacked high in front of him showed he was at least a skilled card player.

This was a very charismatic mature man.

Even far more than that.

Because Henry sensed the other party should be an expert gunman - just an inexplicable feeling, couldn't say why.

But he didn't sense any killing intent from the other party, so he ignored it and focused on the delicious food brought to him.

Barrett withdrew his gaze from scanning Henry - the other party was indeed very perceptive - and continued concentrating on his card game.
