Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Properly Thank the Ancestors and Aeons Who Protect You!

After Emiya's persistent and careful nursing, Acheron's body had basically stabilized. Now she could safely use the power of the Oathkeeper Blade for a short time, and defeating Beloberg's ordinary soldiers would be as easy as turning over her hand.

"Acheron, pick those three hundred golden-armored warriors and kill them all."

After quietly saying this, Emiya's expression looked extremely unpleasant. He didn't want Acheron to kill people, but his own magical energy was limited, he had to save it for what came next.

It seemed he still had to find another source of strength. Last time during the Stellaron Hunters incident, it was also because he lacked enough magic power at the critical moment that they had gone through so many life-threatening dangers.

"It's fine. For me, swinging my blade for the sake of our home is something especially joyful."

Acheron lightly patted Emiya on the back and briskly walked to the front of the formation. The fact that Emiya even worried about something this small for her made her feel unusually happy.

"Miss Acheron, even though you are a woman, you're still a formidable powerhouse. I'm afraid a one-on-one duel won't satisfy you..." Adrian said this with his face burning hot, never in his life had he thought he would one day say something so shameless.

"Enough nonsense. I'll say this upfront, once I strike, there will be blood. Are you sure you want to make me your enemy?"

Lightning flashed in Acheron's eyes, and the Oathkeeper Blade rumbled with thunder in response. She swept her gaze proudly around the field, finally resting her eyes on Bronya and Cocolia. "Do either of you two have something to say?"

"Acheron, you..."

"No!" Cocolia loudly stopped Bronya's childish words. "I already said it, I only brought myself and Bronya here. As for everyone else, that's not my concern."

"Fine then. Those 300 flashy golden-armored ones, come at me all together!"

Hearing Acheron's words, before the Landau family patriarch could even respond, the 300 elite guards were already restless.

Before departure, the chief financial officer had come to them personally and said, as long as anyone could cut off the head of any member of the Emiya family, all of them would be granted a permanent residence.

Such an outrageous reward was already within reach. Even though they had been through brutal training since childhood, they still couldn't help showing their delight.

"Patriarch, please let us go!" Seeing that the Landau patriarch still kept a dark face without speaking, the guard captain couldn't resist urging.

"Very well. If you can kill her, I'll even give you 3 years' salary, no, 6 years' salary!"

To become head of the family, the Landau patriarch relied not only on the protection of his ancestors but also on his own cunning. The fact that the other side openly wanted to fight all the guards he brought meant she was completely fearless.

But the arrow was already on the string and had to be released. If he suddenly ordered the Silvermane Guards to fight instead, no matter win or lose, his reputation would be ruined, and besides, the other side clearly wouldn't agree.

"Don't worry, weren't all these children handpicked and trained by you yourself?" The matriarch saw her husband's hesitation, so she firmly held his arm, lending him her support and strength.

"Yes, you're right." The patriarch's gaze hardened.

"They are the fine sons of the Landau family. Killing one woman is as easy as a hand's turn. Even if some monster fell from the sky..."

Zzzraaap!

Before the Landau patriarch could finish using lofty words to comfort himself, deafening thunder roared, and purple lightning shot straight into the heavens, completely shattering his resolve.

Acheron was like a raging dragon of lightning, darting freely within the fully alert formation of elite guards. In just a few breaths, she was back at Emiya's side, her Oathkeeper Blade already back in its sheath.

"Wha... what the hell is this!" The Landau patriarch and his wife collapsed to the ground like fish thrown onto dry land, sitting stiff and gasping with mouths wide open.

The others were so terrified that they even forgot to help them up.

In the center of the battlefield, the elite guards' golden armor still gleamed, their bodies still stood upright, but above their necks was nothing but emptiness.

Their heads had long since been vaporized by thunder, and wisps of white mist rose slowly into the sky from the hollow stumps of their necks.

"To think... she could be this strong..." Gepard's eyes widened. As one of Beloberg's most renowned warriors, he could understand Acheron's overwhelming might far more than those pampered officials.

All this time he had thought he was giving this outsider family enough credit, yet reality slapped him in the face again and again.

Not only had Dr. Vah, praised as a divine figure, willingly knelt before Zoe, but even the Landau family's elite guards, nurtured with painstaking effort, known as warriors each able to take on ten Silvermane Guards, were no different from paper dummies in front of her.

Digging his ten nails deep into his thigh, Gepard used the stabbing pain to forcefully restrain his trembling heart.

He instinctively turned his eyes to the eldest brother among the four siblings, the one rumored to have received a master's true teaching, the pastry chef Emiya.

Somewhere deep inside, Gepard had a faint premonition. He suspected this man was still hiding some even greater move.

"Gepard, is there something wrong with my face?" Noticing Gepard looking at him, Emiya grinned, flashing a full mouth of bright white teeth.

"N-no, nothing. It's just... the corner of your mouth seems a little black."

"The corner of my mouth..." Emiya touched his lips. His palm was instantly smeared with black charcoal, most likely from Acheron's burnt marshmallow.

"Thanks for the reminder."

Pulling out a handkerchief, he slowly wiped his mouth clean and secretly let out a breath of relief. For a moment, he'd thought Gepard had noticed the killing intent he harbored toward those Beloberg officials.

Killing a few hundred insignificant tools was meaningless. As long as those officials remained alive, Beloberg would continue to be burdened.

But the Landau family's roots ran deep. According to Vah's intelligence network, it wasn't just the Silvermane Guards, the Landau family's influence spread throughout every corner of Beloberg, with at least one-fifth of the total population under their control.

To truly uproot the Landau family would require a complete purge. Otherwise, if these people were allowed to spread chaos in secret, Beloberg would never know peace.

The Builders might have fewer numbers than the Landau family, but Beloberg was a city their ancestors had built with blood and sweat. They were also devoted followers of the Preservation Aeon, Qlipoth.

Qlipoth was nothing like the Aeon of Nihility, who ignored worldly affairs. If the Builders were slaughtered, Qlipoth would absolutely descend with divine power to retaliate, and the Interastral Peace Corporation might even arrive ahead of schedule.

'Scum like them, you'd better properly thank the ancestors and Aeons who protect you!'

Silently making note of this debt, Emiya took Acheron's hand, ready to head back to the tent for a deep sleep. But just then, the Landau patriarch's sharp and venomous voice belatedly rang out.

"Kill them all! Hack the man into pieces to feed the dogs! Lock the woman in a dungeon and torture her for seven days and seven nights! Then drag her through the streets for all to see, they must pay the price for their crimes!"
