Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Cocolia Bullies 60-Year-Old Old Men

With this swing of the sword, Emiya, in order to make the momentum grand enough to leave everyone present with an unforgettable impression, nearly drained every last bit of mana he had painstakingly built up.

But it was all worth it. These past days had proven countless times that Emiya's cooking skills, and his one-of-a-kind ability to handle wild beasts, would make his little food business wildly successful. Before long, he'd surely earn it all back several times over.

Most importantly, today's solid foundation of connections would give Emiya's family unparalleled convenience for their future endeavors.

Thus, the family's initial goal was perfectly achieved. They were officially granted entry into Belobog, rewarded with a two-story house complete with its own courtyard, and a commercial property, a one-story unit with three bedrooms and one living room, for their business.

Originally, according to Cocolia and Gepard's plan, they had wanted to arrange a city-wide welcoming ceremony for Emiya's family, so that all the people would remember Emiya's great deeds.

But Emiya strongly refused. He sternly warned everyone to keep the details of his battle absolutely secret, otherwise, enemies far more terrifying than the Antimatter Legion might come knocking.

Cocolia and Gepard were both stunned, but seeing that Emiya wasn't speaking nonsense, they didn't argue further. The Silvermane Guards now revered Emiya like a god, and each swore on their lives to guard the secret.

Everyone had gained results far beyond what they ever imagined. Things should have ended here, but at this critical moment, the Landau family and the Architects jumped out again.

Sure, the sudden disappearance of an entire mountain range was a little suspicious. But the fact that the Silvermane Guards had suffered not a single casualty, not even a scratch on their armor, was indisputable.

The pampered bigwigs seized on this point, openly accusing Cocolia of cheating, conspiring with outsiders, to trick them, old men in their sixties, and ambush them.

But now Cocolia was a woman with a backbone. She would no longer indulge these geezers.

"I already said once, it was the Emiya family that detonated their own ship to wipe out the Rift monsters. If you keep making a mess of things, then all of you can roll into prison and reflect!"

"You... you... you dare talk to us like that?!" They hadn't expected that in just a few days, Cocolia had grown this bold. Now they were even less willing to back down.

They resolved to crush her arrogance today, to remind her who really held power in Belobog.

"Cocolia, you privately let in the outsiders who slaughtered nearly a thousand of our people. We suspect you've betrayed us to the enemy."

"As of now, you are stripped of the title of Supreme Guardian!" The Landau family and Architects stood united, determined to depose her.

"What the hell are you nobodies, to dare spout such nonsense at me, the Supreme Guardian!" Cocolia was blunt and merciless. She raised her slender, boneless hand and gave the closest old codgers a huge slap, the kind of slap they hated most.

"Idiots, trying to provoke and then getting struck down, you deserved it! Shame I didn't finish the job and cut down you worthless lot too!"

"You... ugh!" A few of the older ones, choked with rage, spat blood on the spot and collapsed unconscious.

The Landau patriarch and the Architect representative turned pale, trying to call guards to seize the "rebellious" Cocolia.

But every soldier and Silvermane Guard around them now stood firmly on Cocolia's side. No matter how hoarse the old men screamed, no one answered. Their own private guards had all been wiped out by Emiya's family.

Now truly, the heavens gave no reply, the earth gave no help, enemies surrounded them on all sides. At last they felt what Cocolia once endured, driven nearly mad when they forced her into despair.

"Drag them out. If they die here, it'll give me nightmares."

"Yes, ma'am!" The previously stone-faced soldiers immediately obeyed, dragging these once high-and-mighty elders like dead pigs, dumping them right by the garbage bins outside.

Though they had guessed the bigwigs would suffer under Cocolia, actually seeing their state now, Gepard and Bronya couldn't hold back their laughter. Behind them, the medics covered their mouths tight, nearly bursting from suppressed giggles.

"All right, mind your image." Gepard smoothed his hair, regaining his calm composure.

"Just take them to the hospital directly. Don't delay the victory banquet at headquarters. The Rift monsters are no longer a concern. Tonight I've arranged drinks for everyone."

"Yes, sir!" The medics saluted respectfully to Gepard and Bronya, then hurried off toward the groaning elders.

"Are you sure this outfit is appropriate? Should I go touch up my makeup?" Bronya tugged at the short skirt barely reaching her knees, feeling a little insecure.

"You're more than pretty enough, you don't need heavy makeup. That outfit was personally delivered by Miss Vera. She said Emiya likes this sort of thing."

What Bronya was wearing now was a sailor uniform that Vera had stayed up all night sewing. To boost Bronya's s*x appeal and soften her iron-blooded aura, Vera had not only shortened the skirt even more but also prepared matching black stockings and lace lingerie.

"And the gift? I only brought a cake, doesn't that seem a bit thin?" On the small cart by her side sat a beautifully wrapped ten-tier cake, custom-ordered from the best baker in the city.

"That's more than enough. If you'd brought more, mine would look shabby."

Gepard had no experience in such matters. He had ordered a full set of furniture for Emiya's family, but it wouldn't be ready for some time. For now, all he held was a simple bouquet of flowers.

"All right then, it's almost mealtime. Let's hurry!"

Bronya, anxious at heart, pushed the cart slowly for a while before losing patience. She decisively scooped the entire cart into her arms and sprinted like the wind toward Emiya's house.

Years later, when Bronya became Supreme Guardian herself, this glorious story was still told on every street corner. The sailor uniform she wore that day became an eternal classic across the stars.

People never learned for whom the always-gentle and elegant Supreme Guardian had donned alluring black stockings and a short skirt, tied her beautiful hair into a dashing ponytail, and dashed through the streets clutching a cake taller than herself.

Thus, the topic became an unending legend. No matter how poor your writing was, as long as it was about Bronya, it would be adored and chased after. But if you let your imagination run too wild, you might also invite a frenzied interstellar manhunt.
