Chapter 4 - Darkness Manipulation 2

Suddenly the room seemed darker than it already was.

"That's it… what do you mean darkness obeys me" he said as he tried to feel if something was different.

"I can't feel anything" but he quickly brushed it away as there were more pressing issues.

"I have to find my sister"

But he knew it was easier said than done. Getting down from his room in the dormitory would prove to be a very harrowing task. But Garret had forgotten something, he was in a new world and one could never be distracted from his surroundings. Especially now when he had no clue of what was happening and he was about to pay for it dearly. Before he could even register the perilous situation he was in, the creature was already upon him. Luckily he had not discarded his trusty spear which he barely put in front of his body as a shield.

"Damn this bee, I'm not that tasty," he grimaced as the impact send him crashing to the wall. But the demented bee did not seem to be finished. He could see the bee looking at him with contempt or maybe the impact had messed his brains. But he knew one thing for sure, he would not leave here in one piece.

"Why is it not attacking and why didn't I close the damn window," Garret lamented. But he knew that the single glazed sheet of transparent, brittle glass would not prove to be a hindrance to the bee. But he could feel that after absorbing the zombies, he had gotten stronger. There's also that skill.

{Darkness Manipulation lv 1…. Darkness obeys you

Passive skills; Light Absorption User can absorb light in an area, generating their own darkness. This blinds enemies and empowers the user's other abilities

Active skills; Shadow camouflage User can blend into shadows to hide from sight.}

He had some experience while playing video games and he knew the difference between passive and active skills. The Light Absorption was already in place. Bees have very strong perception and can see UV light. The bee was somehow apprehensive of its ability being countered.

Garret was quite smart. He was in a top university for crying out loud, and very quickly he came up with a plan to finish off the bee in one swoop

"Come at me you bastard," he smiled.

The bee provoked by what it deemed as a lesser creature to itself charged. He only took out one item, a mirror, which distorted the bees line of sight. In a that moment when the bee became disoriented, Garret moved. Still holding his trusty spear, he charged towards the bee plunging it in its massive compound eyes or rather he planned to. The bee having regained its bearings, using one of its mandibles, it swiped the makeshift spear away but before it could stab him Garret had already jumped back. But that had not been his plan as he knew bees had amazing reaction time. He quickly, using his lighter lit the dead carcasses of the zombies creating a cloud of smoke and a putrid unbearable smell. Smiling like a mad man, he rushed towards the bee holding his kitchen knife and thrusted the knife into its large eyes

{You have slain Mutated Bee level 10

You have leveled up

You have leveled up…

You have received Agility +5 health+2…}

"Another orange orb, and a red one too?" Garret quickly retrieved the previous orange orb and placed it on the ground with the other ones.

"Now what do we have here? And what are these things even?"

He decided to squeeze them as he had done with the scroll. Squeezing his arm tightly, the first orange orb flashed slightly, and when the brightness dimmed a new object appeared in Garret's hand.

{Chixiao Sword: Has amazing piercing strength and its power can pierce any living thing below level 30. When equipped, strength +10}

The sword was straight, double edged with countless intricate patterns along the blade. The hilt made from a dark lustrous jade giving a mysterious hue.

Garret slashed a couple of times and nodded in satisfaction. Although he had never wielded a sword, he was more than comfortable to have something that he could kill with while not having to get too close.

He quickly squeezed the other two orbs for he could not afford to waste any more time. He had actually planned to open only one but after getting a taste of the first masterpiece he had a slight change of plans.

{Shroud of The Grieving Soul; Requires a Soul Pact. A cursed garment, not of cloth but of sorrow. Dark as a moonless night and seemingly woven from a twilight night. It carries the grief of all those who have worn it. Slowly drives the wearer mad. When equipped, Mana+20 Magic +20 Agility +25. Very far from its prime!! With the right materials the sorrowful mantle can once strike fear onto the universe

Normal blade: A very normal blade.}

"How dreadful and fitting. What do you mean than it slowly drives someone mad? And what even is a soul pact"? Garret lamented.

He concentrated on the dark mantle and a screen appeared on his retina which he quickly accepted the pact. The mantle disappeared from his hands but he could feel it was somewhere inside of him. He simply willed it and the dark sorrowful mantle finally could bring terror to its wearers enemies once again. The air around Garret became perceptively colder and he could almost swear that he heard a soft, mournful sound, a distant sad sighing.

"Maybe I am getting mad,"

The refreshing feeling of having his agility doubled made him feel quite refreshed. He could suddenly perceive the world more clearly. He attributed this to his Magic and Mana stats also getting a significant boost.

"What even is the deal with that much Mana and Magic." He silently thought

Curious about how his attributes were like.
