Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Drive Home

"Please put the bills for this young man and me on this card."

"Yes, ma'am."

When it comes to paying the bills, Mejiro Ramonu busts out her reliable black card. It reflects the light from the chandelier above straight into the young man's eyes and engraves 'Poor Bastard' in his retina. The bills weren't even shown, that's simply how high-class the restaurant is.

"Thank you for your patronage. Please take a complimentary bottle of wine with you. We have ensured its quality to the highest of standards."

"Thank you. Come, Igo Heita."

"Ah! Okay…"

A goddamn complimentary bottle of wine… Goddesses damn!!

The young man follows the Mejiro supermodel as they make their way out of the restaurant. You may wonder, can Ramonu even drink when she is still a student in Tracen Academy? Well, the truth is, Tracen Academy is more like an integrated school than a single-level school. It's a combination of junior high school, senior high school, and university. And Mejiro Ramonu is on the university side of that. So is Rudolph, but she somehow gets to be the president of the student council for some reason.

"Yes. We are waiting at the front."

Just a brief second after Ramonu ended the call with her driver, a Jaguar Mark IV rolled up in front of the couple. It is indeed the car that Mejiro Ramonu uses on her everyday travel, and the young man could only lament the state he is in.

It's a fucking Mark Four… I want one… Damn it… The world is unfair… It's one of the coolest fucking cars that has ever been produced, and I can only watch as this woman enjoys my dream. She is an Uma Musume for goddesses' sake!! She doesn't need a car!! SHE CAN JUST RUN!!!

The young man couldn't contain his discontent with Ramonu as the driver exited and opened the back door for Igo and Ramonu to enter.

Although the car comes from the 1960s, the inside is modern. The seats feel like you are sitting on clouds. The air conditioner can also be used as a heater in the winter. There is a 4K widescreen TV with Netflix on it, embedded in the separator for the passengers to enjoy.

Thank goddesses, Ramonu doesn't buy one with a 3D feature because that is a stupid fucking gimmick and everyone knows it.

"I have plotted a course."

"Yes, ma'am."

Ramonu shut down her tablet when the car started moving. She deliberately set a path that won't take them to Tracen as soon as possible, but it gives a good view of Tokyo. The young man comes from out of Tokyo, so Mejiro Ramonu thought that this might help strengthen the relationship between the two of them. To have him know more about her. To expose more of her to him.

"Mhh… Igo, can I perhaps interest you in some wine?"

Ramonu presses a button, and an armrest between her and Igo rises from beneath the seat. She slides open the container inside the armrest and pulls up two glasses.

"Are you sure? With an old man like me?"

"Ufufufu~~ If you're old, then so am I."

Igo Heita grabs the glass on which Ramonu poured the wine that she got from the restaurant. Igo isn't that well-versed in wine, so he can only act like he knows what he is doing, looking at the wine red liquid in his glass. He tries to act sophisticated, but to someone who has been in the world of the rich for what seems like her entire life, Ramonu can tell straight away.

Isn't he adorable? Trying to impress me, eh?

Ramonu couldn't take her eyes off the young man pretending to be high-class. She watches as the young man puts the lip of the glasses to his and drinks the wine.

"Fuuuh…"

I have no idea if this is good or not… It tastes good to my tongue, so I guess it is…?

The young man could only stare down at his glass. He feels that this is a world he can never reach, regardless of how many times he has been reincarnated. Unless he is reincarnated into a rich family, then this is possibly his only exposure to rich wine, at the mercy of a supermodel, and not with his own merits.

"Sigh…"

Hmm? Why is he sad? Is the wine not to his liking?

The young man averted his eyes to the windows and looked outside. Tokyo is a mega metropolitan, which means that it's a city that never sleeps. Umas and people are walking around, minding their own business. It's not hard for the young man to see himself amongst them, and not inside this lovely, comfortable car.

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*

Drips of water drop from the heavens. At first, slowly and steadily, before the torrent of downpour increases heavily. The people outside quickly run to safety while the young man watches from inside the comfortable Jaguar Mark IV.

Heh… I should be amongst them. I still have no right to sit here when I don't have any achievements like Ramonu. An average Joe like me, enjoying a high-class life because of the simple mercy of the world. Kuh… Pathetic. To think I even have the gall to declare that I want to usurp the three goddesses…

Why are you looking at someone else? Didn't you say that you were aiming for me? Why are you not looking at me?

The Mejiro supermodel unconsciously extends her arm toward the man. She opens her palm and moves it toward the man's neck. Her sharp nails look like knives, ready to stab right through the young man's skin.

Look only at me. Didn't you propose to me? Why are you looking at someone else? Hey, cheater. Your partner is over here.

Ramonu had to try her hardest not to grab the young man's neck and yank him to her.

"Oh… A race in the dream series next week."

The young man was completely engrossed in the sight outside to notice the looming death around his neck. When a banner promoting the dream series goes by his sight, he couldn't help but call it out.

The Dream Series is the cream of Uma racing in Japan. The series that his trainees are running right now is called the Twinkle Series. If the Japan Uma racing series is a pyramid, the top 20% are in the Dream Series. It's where monsters duel against each other. Monsters that are much scarier compared to Rudolph and Ramonu. If Rudolph is the top of Everest, then the Dream Series is the stars.

Dream Series…

Ramonu had tried to enter the Dream Series before, but she could not win her debut race. Unlike the Twinkle Series, you have to win your debut race in the Dream Series, and Ramonu never manages to win her debut races. That's why she wants to be better. That's why she is so happy when the young man looks at her with his eyes.

"Hmm…"

The Dream Series ticket would most likely be sold out a month before the race, so they'll need to buy one from a scalper, but the price would be extremely inflated. Unless Ramonu uses her many connections.

"Say, Dear Igo, are you free next week?"
