Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: The Three Most Nauseating Logias

Time flew; in the blink of an eye, a week had passed.

During that week, Yami lived quite joyfully.

Because his relationship with the three girls—Carina, Nami, and Robin—finally took a step forward.

All thanks to the help of the heavens.

On the Grand Line the weather changes unpredictably—clear skies one moment, a storm the next.

Likewise, it might be freezing cold one moment, then blazing hot the next.

One day, while the four were playing mahjong, it was a bit chilly, so the three girls weren't in their work clothes.

Midgame, the weather suddenly turned hot.

But Carina and Nami, in the heat of the match, didn't head back to change; they just slipped off their outer layers and kept playing in short tops.

That wasn't the key part—their figures hadn't developed yet, nothing much to look at.

What mattered was that, seeing the two do that, Robin also didn't go change, playing in a short top as well.

The refreshing view kept distracting Yami, and he was routed by the three girls, losing every last berry.

Yami didn't mind at all.

Also, with Yami taking the initiative, Carina and Nami came every night in maid outfits to wash his hair and scrub his back.

Yami finally enjoyed one of the privileges a Master ought to have.

Every time they finished, Nami's face would be scarlet as she left, not at all as bold as in the original story, and Carina would tease her every time.

In truth, if Nami had Observation Haki, she'd notice that the "bold little fox" was all show.

Her emotions fluctuated just as much as Nami's.

Unfortunately, Nami wasn't as clever as Carina, and her acting wasn't as good, so she got played.

A week later, the sloop finally sailed into the waters around Jaya.

If Nami had checked the Log Pose on her wrist, she would have seen the needle inside the glass sphere pointing straight up to the sky.

"Jaya's close. First enter the other space and head for Jaya to wait for me."

Munching fruit, Yami suddenly spoke, startling the three girls: "I'm going up to Skypiea to take the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. I'll come back down to pick you up afterward."

"S-Skypiea?!"

"Is a sky island really real?"

The busy Carina, Nami, and Robin all turned to Yami.

Carina and Nami were full of shock, while Robin tapped her chin with a finger, murmuring, "So that's it. No wonder the Rumble-Rumble Fruit hasn't surfaced for so many years—it reincarnated in the sky."

"Mm."

Yami nodded, offering no further explanation. "I'll tell you when I'm back. For now, get into the other space and hide."

"Okay."

Carina and Nami answered obediently.

Robin gently reminded him, "Boss, be careful."

"Relax. At most, I won't be up there more than a day before I'm back."

Yami flashed an OK sign. He didn't open an air door right away; he first went into the cabin and fetched a barrel he'd prepared.

Leaping to the prow, Yami shouldered the barrel with one hand and touched the air before him with the other, spending stamina to open a massive air door.

The translucent white doors parted, and the sloop slipped into the verdant other space.

"Amplify: Thirtyfold Speed—Moonwalk!"

After closing the air door, Yami waved to the three girls and blasted skyward with the Momo-Momo Fruit's power, leaving a streak behind.

One after another, white rings burst in the air like sonic booms.

In just a few blinks, Yami vanished from the girls' sightline.

Carina pulled out her collapsible spyglass, but she couldn't track him at all.

"At that speed, no matter how many times I see it, it's still absurd."

Carina lowered the scope with a soft sigh.

"Yeah," Nami nodded in agreement.

Before the girls reached Jaya, Yami had already crossed the White Sea at seven thousand meters, then the White-White Sea at ten thousand, appearing above Angel Island.

To outsiders, the White-White Sea and Angel Island are pure, dreamlike white—stunningly beautiful.

But in Yami's view, the White-White Sea, Angel Island, and even the residents upon it were all rendered in green.

Moonwalking through the air, Yami faced God's Island, Apayado, and raised his hand to use Clairvoyance and X-Ray Sight, searching for Enel.

Soon, he located God's Shrine—and Enel, lounging sideways on his throne, eating an apple, his vast Mantra blanketing all of God's Island and Angel Island.

Once he found his target, Yami headed there with Moonwalk.

Before long, Yami was inside God's Shrine, standing before Enel.

He didn't strike at once.

Instead, Yami set the barrel down, sat on it, and stared at Enel, who was monitoring Angel Island—playing god while watching the lives of mortals.

For a moment, Enel watched over his subjects, while Yami, like a viper, watched Enel from the other space right beside him.

Enel had no idea a viper was eyeing him; even with the world's top-tier Observation Haki, he couldn't sense it.

Such is the terror of spatial abilities.

In any world, space and time abilities are always top-tier powers.

Time ticked by, minute after minute.

Day slid into night without Yami moving.

He was waiting for the perfect opening—a one-hit kill moment.

In this world, the most nauseating Logias right now are the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, the Glint-Glint Fruit, and the Wind-Wind Fruit suspected to be eaten by Monkey D. Dragon.

All three are opponents you can only beat in a plot-governed scenario.

Otherwise, with electrical field teleportation and the speed of light, and speed like the wind, even with the Momo-Momo Fruit's amplification, Yami simply couldn't catch Enel, Dragon, or Kizaru.

The first two can ignore obstacles and move instantly; the last travels in straight lines at the fastest speed in the world.

Yami was certain: if Enel took a hit from Dark Water but couldn't be finished instantly, taking him down would become incredibly hard.

Unless he was as arrogant as in the original story and chose not to run.

Yami wasn't about to gamble on Enel not running.

He'd use a transmigrator's edge to take the high ground in one step.

After several more hours—after a full day—Yami finally got his perfect timing.

Because Enel fell asleep.
