While Lucifer and Michael were still immersed in their nameless bond, Heaven and Hell gave birth to new souls. As compensation for the shortcomings of the two original sinful and virtuous beings, six demons from the darkest darkness and six angels from the purest light appeared one after another.
Each pair was a perfect reflection, but also the most fierce collision. And then, like their two older siblings, they saw in each other not only an enemy… but also a deep part of themselves.
From the deepest darkness, Asmodeus was born.
Unlike Lucifer with his proud and glorious fire, Asmodeus had an empty soul, cold as the abyss. He craved the gaze of others, craved burning emotions to fill the void in his being. Every smile, every glance, every touch from the surrounding souls became poison that made him crave more.
But paradoxically, the more he yearned, the more he was abandoned.
Other demons bowed to Lucifer, feared Mammon, dreaded Beelzebub… but Asmodeus was only mentioned as a flood of lust, as a fire that burned and then died. No one considered him a worthy being, only as an endless thirst. And it was the coldness of that darkness that created the endless loneliness in his heart.
In complete contrast, Gabriel was born in the purest light.
She bore the name of the Virgin, the eternal symbol of unsullied, unlost. But because of that, she was also deprived of all emotions. Her smile was always gentle, her eyes were always serene, her voice was always soft… but all was just a mask. In the depths of her heart, she longed to cry, to tremble, to be moved by someone – but the chains of "virginity" locked her soul.
She was perfect, but within that perfection was a loneliness that no one understood.
The first day they met on the battlefield, Asmodeus's eyes were fixed on Gabriel.
In the sea of blood and chaotic light, she still stood there – pure enough to suffocate him. Not a trace of fear, not a trace of desire, not a trace of emotion on her face.
It was that emptiness that drove him crazy.
"Asmodeus of lust, and Gabriel of purity…" – he whispered softly, the corners of his lips curling into a twisted smile. – "Do you know what I crave? Just once, to see your eyes burn with a flame of emotion… whatever it is. Hatred, fear, or… desire."
Gabriel looked up at him, his eyes clear and cold.
"If I was born to be untainted, then all emotions are chains. Do you want me to break? Or do you want me to fall?"
Her words were sharp, but her voice trembled slightly – a trembling because she herself did not understand why her heart was wavering.
Asmodeus smiled, but in that smile was a choking emptiness.
"Let me be the one to chain you. Let my desire be the fire that burns the coldness in your eyes."
They rushed at each other. Not only with swords and spears, but also with the invisible gaps in their hearts.
Asmodeus attacked fiercely, not to kill, but to force Gabriel to reveal a true emotion. Gabriel responded precisely, coldly, but every time she looked into his red eyes, she saw a strong desire no different from the hidden desire in her heart.
That night, when the battle subsided, Gabriel stood alone in the starry sky.
She gently placed her hand on her chest, where her heart was beating faster than usual. Why, among countless enemies, was it only Asmodeus's gaze that she could not forget?
She told herself: "No… this is just a test. Just a passing wind."
On the other side, Asmodeus sat alone in the dark abyss, his smile fading.
He whispered in the darkness:
"Chastity bound in a shell of indifference, making me want to indulge in it but also making me afraid, It's really interesting."
They didn't realize what it was.
They couldn't name the rising emotions.
But deep down, the two opposite poles had begun to be pulled towards each other, silently, painfully and full of desire.
