"You must be crazy," Yuhan chuckled softly, avoiding Zixuan's gaze as he pressed his warm cheeks with both hands.
"Yah—what are you thinking? It was just a joke," Zixuan said, then leaned closer, deliberately closing the distance between them.
"Though now I feel like I should've pushed a little further… just to see what you'd do."
Startled, Yuhan tilted the coffee cup in his hand. The hot liquid spilled—but before it could splash onto Yuhan's legs, Zixuan had already reached out with his injured hand, catching the cup and shoving Yuhan aside.
Yuhan gasped when he realized it was Zixuan's bandaged hand that took the heat. Panic flooded him as he grabbed Zixuan's wrist, unsure of what to do.
"Don't worry," Zixuan said calmly. "I could barely feel it."
"You could barely feel what?" Yuhan snapped, tears already slipping down his cheeks.
"I'm serious," Zixuan said again, softer this time.
"The coffee barely touched my skin."
