Chapter 2 - The Beginning

The man's silhouette stretches out before me, asking if I'm his Master. Like... WHAT?! I don't understand anything anymore. What's going on?! Why this man is asking if Im his Master?! But honestly, I'd be lying if I said he wasn't handsome. He's god damn hot!

Grandpa João (dumbfounded and whispering to himself)

— "I didn't expect it to work, honestly..."

Gabriela (dumbfounded too)

— "I-I-I- Uhhh- Yes, I am your Master..."

Saber (with a genuine innocent warm smile)

— "I see... You don't seem to be a warrior, nor experienced, but my sword will be loyal to you, Master."

OH MY GOD. He's so polite.I will give props to Grandpa for this. I never thought this handsome would answer me. He legit looks like the clichés princes from stories. But my thoughts were interrupted by-

Berserker

— "「Aaaaaargh!」"

Gabriela (scared again)

— "EEK! ITS HIM!"

Saber (calm with a innocent determination)

— "Hmph... Looks like you already have a challenge for me, Master."

Saber started walking to the street and even I tried to stop him of fear because I was scared that weird diabolical tall knight could kill him so easily. But I couldn't because Saber showed such self-confidence and zero hesitation that my voice didnt came out. He seemed like he knew what he was going to do against that tall knight that almost killed me.

Saber stops on the middle of the road, standing there and waiting patiently for is opponent like an old school art martial fighter. The tall diabolical knight finally appears and stops on his tracks when he see Saber standing here. The silence is heavy, the tension is at its peak, the wind blows silently, the tall diabolical knight breath is heavy. I dont know why but looks like two cowboys looking at each other waiting for the first move. My heart beats fast from nervous. Granpda looks at scenes calm but he is nervous too.

Berserker

— "「Grrr...」"

Saber (calm, looking at Berserk without being intimidated)

— "So... we finally met, Berserker..."

Saber pulls his sword out. The sword, even between the fog, shines. Berserker, as Saber call him, also raise his massive giant worse. This is like a David against Goliath battle - Saber with an average man height against Berserker much higher than an average basketall player, the difference is huge. I start feeling even more nervous as my heart beats fast, I never felt so anxious in my life. And I dont have a good feeling about this. And in a flash, at a time when my eyes couldn't keep up...

CLANG!

Both swords clash against the metal of each other. The battle is frenetic and in a quick pace, looks like something out of Star Wars ou mediaval movies shit. Saber, somehow, manages to keep up with the Berserker's strength without backing down. Its like Saber lives for this as he continues fighting and dodging the Berserker's attacks.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The battle is getting more heated but Berserker looks... hesited? It seems like he doesnt want to fight Saber at all. But why?

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

They continue fighting nonstop, and they don't even look tired. How in the fuck they can still fighting at this pace without getting tired? Are they super humans or some shit? This is crazy...! But I couldn't stop watching the battle, I feel... impressed, which is totally contradictory to the situation before me, two guys fighting to death.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The clash continue as sparks fly each time the swords meet each other. Saber is very serious as he face shows totally his spirit to win this battle between knights. Saber is slowly starting to gain the upper hand in the battle-

 ??? (Screaming with a smug)

— "Hey! Fighting without me? How rude of you not to let me join the party! "

I turn my face to the side seeing the same woman from moments before - it was "Rider" appearing from nowhere.

Saber (confused with sudden appearence)

— "What the-?!"

Rider (amused)

— "Oh~? Saber here? I didnt expect that girl pulling someone of your caliber. We are gonna have a little talk later."

But even though the battle could have continued, Berserker withdrew and disappeared into the fog beyond.

Rider (angry)

— "Oh no you dont! Come here, you big ass coward-!"

Diana

— "Rider, no! Dont go!"

Rider

— "What?! Im not letting him getting way!

Gabriela (suprised)

— "Diana!?"

Diana (embarassed because she will have alot to explain but also suprised)

— "Oh... H-Hi Gabi- Wait, YOU SUMMONED A SABER?! HOW!

Gabriela (furious)

— "DONT "Oh hi" ME! TELL ME WHY RIGHT NOW WHAT IN BLUE HELL IS HAPPENING! I ALMOST PISS MYSELF, YOU KNOW!"

Diana (trying not laugh)

— "PFFFT-"

Gabriela

— "WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT-?! I SWEAR I'M GOING TO GET MY HANDS ON YOU-!"

Saber, Rider and Grandpa João (staring in a little shock)

— (Saber)....

— (Rider) "So this is what they call puberty at its peak?"

— (Grandpa João) "...it's much worse than that, trust me..."

After some minutes, trying not to choke Diana to death and no homicidal thoughts after this, Grandpa told us to get inside so things so we can settle things calmly.

Gabriela

— "So... Are you gonna explain what in actual FUCK is happening here?"

Diana (sigh)

— "...Good grief. Gabi, listen to me very carefully. What Im about to explain is beyond of a simple fairytale so be prepared."

Gabriela

— "Ok go ahead."

Diana

— "So... We are at war."

Gabriela (confused)

— "W-War? What do you mean by that."

Diana

— "Uhh- Lets make this on easy way. You know Fortnite, right?"

Gabriela

— "Yeah...?"

Diana

— "So this war is basically a Battle Royal of a Holy Grai War, one against all, by the name of Virgin Mary War. YOU, a Master and your Servant, you have to fight against other Masters and Servants to win the ultimate price - a Holy Grail. And that Grail grants you a wish and only one. Are you keeping up?"

Gabriela

— "Yeah, I guess."

Diana

— "Ok cool. But dont forget this - if your Servant dies or you die, is game over. No second chances."

Gabriela

— "I-I see..."

Diana

— "Now I will explain the basics between you and your Servant. Do you see that on your hand?"

Gabriela (looks at her hand and after back to Diana)

— "Yeah, is a Command Spell. My grandpa told me moments ago."

Diana (little suprised but skeptical)

— "Huh... So your grandpa was a mage too."

Gabriela

— "A mage?"

Diana

— "Yeah but that you have to talk with him, not me. Anyway, as I was saying. that your hand is a Command Spell - that gives your Servant an absolute order in case they decided to be reckless, so you can stop them. BUT you can only use it three times, because you cant have everything right, bleh."

Gabriela (concerned)

— "Ok, but this is so much information for me..."

Diana

— "I know, everything is being overwhelming for you right now, but you will get used to it. Now about your Servant themselfs - Every Servant was a historic/divine spirit from the past, like D. Afonso Henriques, Hercules and etc etc, all of them divided by a class: Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin and Berserker. There are also extra classes, but we won't go there."

Gabriela

— "So... In my case my Servant is Saber and your is Rider?"

Diana (proud that Gabriela is not dumb)

— "Exactly and weird tall knight is Berserker. You learn fast for someone who is stupid on classroom."

Gabriela

— "HEY!"

Diana

— "Oops, it slip from my mouth."

Gabriela (pout)

— "Right... But how do I know who is my Servant."

Diana

— "NORMALLY, I wouldnt reccommend trying to know who is the Servant you are in charge."

Gabriela

— "Huh? Why not?"

Diana

— "Because that can show your Servant is weakness. A common example - Achilles, How do you think he dies?"

Gabriela

— "Because... OH so that's where Achilles tendon comes from!"

Diana

— "Yep, Achilles's weakness was the tendon itself since that part was not bathed to make him completely immortal."

Gabriela (understanding everthing like a kid)

— "Now everything makes sense. So who is your Servant?"

Diana (with a "are you serious" expression)

— "...You-"

Gabriela

— "I was joking! Calm down... But now I realize... Aren't we technically enemies now...?"

Diana (with sudden sadness)

— "Well..."

[Saber, Rider and Grandpa where on the kitchen listen everything, now with the dilemma of the two friends. Whether friend or foe]

...

[Far from the city center, two distinct figures are observing the city lights at a viewpoint, between the fog of the night — a preteen wearing an elegant outfit and a grown man dressed in Jesuit priest clothes. Both are watching the city skyline hidden in the fog as if they are preparing their next moves for this Holy Grail War.]

??? (an excited female thin young voice)

— "Ahhhh- increadible! I'm so excited for this war, I never would have thought my parents would let me participate! What do you think about it, Father Caster?"

[The priest, being revealed as Caster, he looks at his Master with a serene smile but a smile that hid 1001 things]

Caster (a deep voice with a serene smile)

— "I won't lie, I never thought your parents would have the audacity to leave their prestigious daughter so young for a Holy Grail War. But I confess that the young Master has potential; your parents must have trained you extensively. And please, just call me Caster; we don't want our enemy to know my identity."

Caster's Master (making a funny and silly gestures)

— "Hehe sowwy, bleh-"

Caster (still with his serene smile and sweet words)

— "Its ok, young Master. But be assured, God lights the path of the righteous… and condemns those who stray. The Holy Grail will only hasten that judgment. Together we will win this war."

Caster's Master (happy)

— "Yippie~! Im counting on you, Caster!"

[And then, the two figures retreat from where they were and prepare their next move.]
