Chapter 96 - Chapter 94 : Night Raid on the Wolf-Head Mercenary Group·

Xiao Jian paused briefly, then decided to bypass them. He had to get back to the Kanan Academy soon.

Hiss!

A sudden rush of wind, tinged with a metallic stench, struck from his side.

Xiao Jian furrowed his brows. With a snap of his fingers, a streak of black-and-white flame shot out, incinerating the attacking Red Ice Snake instantly.

The campfire's leader, a middle-aged man, immediately noticed the anomaly, turning sharply. His eyes locked onto Xiao Jian.

"Who's there?" he barked.

At his shout, three others drew their weapons.

A young girl struggled twice before finally unsheathing her sword, her cheeks flushed.

"I'm just passing by," Xiao Jian said calmly, giving a small wave before continuing through the forest.

Hearing his youthful voice, the five relaxed...but the middle-aged leader's expression turned grim.

"So fast!" he murmured, astonished at Xiao Jian's leisurely pace, which exceeded even a full sprint.

Could this young man be stronger than them?

"Whoever this is, sneaking into another mercenary team's territory without rules can't be good!" a sharp young voice piped up.

"Ling'er, don't speak rashly," the middle-aged man warned.

"He may be young, but his skill is not low. To approach our camp unnoticed.....such strength is not to be provoked."

"Could he be stronger than Uncle Ka Gang or Brother Mu Lan?" Ling'er asked, suppressing her curiosity.

"It's hard to say. But his speed and stealth are beyond my own," Ka Gang said gravely.

He realized that if this youth returned, he might never detect him.

"Keep an extra eye out tonight," Ka Gang added, shaking his head.

"Mm," Mu Lan nodded.

Xiao Jian paid them no further attention and soon exited the mountains.

Bounties in Qingshan Town targeted him and Xiao Yi Xian.

Too bad Xiao Yi Xian wouldn't return. Xiao Jian almost forgot.....he was heading to Qingshan to expand his influence.

The Blood Battle Mercenary Group…

After a moment of thought, Xiao Jian set off for the Wolf-Head Mercenary Group's base.

Tonight, the full moon was perfect for clearing out some trash and sending a message.....preparing for tomorrow's negotiations.

The base was a large estate, guarded by two three-star Dou Shi.

Seeing Xiao Jian stride confidently forward, their expressions hardened.

"What do you think you're doing? Don't you know this is the Wolf-Head Mercenary headquarters?" they demanded.

"I'm here for your captain.

I heard he wants to kill me and seize my treasure," Xiao Jian replied calmly.

"You… Xiao Jian?"

One guard's eyes widened at his handsome features.

"Correct. Reward yourselves by joining your junior captain below," Xiao Jian said with a faint smile.

Blue wind whirls appeared at his fingertips. With a flick of his wrist, they shot forward.

Shhh!

The whirls pierced the guards' throats instantly.

This was a modified version of the Blue Wind Spin Fist.....Wind Whirl Finger Strike.

It used less Dou Qi but retained enough power to eliminate ordinary threats silently.

With the guards dispatched, Xiao Jian entered the estate.

His soul perception probed the surroundings.

There were about thirty people.

Only one Dou Shi was present...likely Mu She.

In a small town like Qingshan, a Dou Shi was the strongest force.

But for the Xiao family, three elders could sweep through the three major mercenary groups.

Three Dou Shi alone posed no real threat.

Even facing them one by one, Xiao Jian alone was more than enough.

"Who's there?"

A patrolling mercenary cried out.

"Can't you use a different line?" Xiao Jian muttered, shaking his head. He flashed forward.

"Enemy attack!"

The alert mercenary screamed his last.

Moments later, his throat was pierced by a blue wind whirl, blood spraying as he choked out weak gurgles.

"Ha!"

A five-star Dou Shi swung his great sword with some skill.

But his strike looked like a child wielding a wooden sword to Xiao Jian.

He sidestepped, then stepped and kicked, executing the Wind Hawk Kick, sending the man flying.

At Xiao Jian's current Dou Shi strength, no ordinary mercenary could resist this.

The man hit the ground, losing combat effectiveness entirely...life or death left to fate.

The delay, however, allowed other mercenaries to draw their weapons and encircle Xiao Jian, preparing to strike.

Xiao Jian looked at the six gleaming steel blades before him.

His gaze hardened. He reached out, drawing a spear from his Na Ring.

Spinning it with flawless precision, blue wind-attribute Dou Qi swirled at the spear tip, amplifying its lethality.

The six steel blades were instantly shredded into fragments by Xiao Jian's violent attack, clattering to the ground.

The six men, weaponless and defenseless, were then struck one by one at the neck by Xiao Jian's spear tip, collapsing slowly, life ebbing away.

Glancing lightly at the fallen trash, Xiao Jian continued deeper into the courtyard.
