Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Injury Wave

On the day of the match, sunlight bathed the stadium, and the turf shimmered with a vibrant green luster.

The Villarreal B Team players, clad in blue jerseys, were full of spirit, ready to face this crucial match.

Their opponents were the formidable Getafe Team, a squad that had demonstrated excellent attacking capabilities in the previous round, especially their forward, Molina, who was renowned for his keen sense in front of goal and outstanding shooting technique.

Lin Feng stood on the field, his gaze firm and confident.

After a week of targeted training, his anticipatory defensive ability had significantly improved.

He knew this match would be the best opportunity to test the results of his training.

He was assigned to specifically mark Molina, which was a great test of his defensive capabilities and crucial to whether he could successfully limit the opponent's offense.

The referee's whistle blew, and the duel between Lin Feng and Molina officially began.

Just five minutes into the game, Molina received a pass.

He quickly turned, attempting to use his speed to break through Lin Feng's defense.

But Lin Feng was prepared; he stuck tightly to Molina, giving him no space to accelerate.

Molina tried to break free several times but was firmly held in position by Lin Feng, eventually forced to pass the ball back.

Ten minutes passed, and Molina got the ball again.

This time, he was smarter; he didn't rush to break through but tried to use a feint to shake off Lin Feng.

However, Lin Feng was not fooled; he accurately anticipated Molina's movements and moved to the correct position in advance.

When Molina made a fake shot, Lin Feng had already blocked his shooting angle, forcing the opponent to abandon the attack again.

As the match progressed, Molina began to feel a bit anxious.

He found that no matter how he ran or passed, he couldn't shake off Lin Feng's defense.

Lin Feng, on the other hand, grew increasingly confident; his anticipation became more accurate, and his defensive actions more decisive.

In a critical attack in the second half, Molina finally found an opportunity to break through.

He used his speed to shake off Lin Feng and charged into the penalty area.

But just as Molina was about to shoot, Lin Feng suddenly chased him from behind and dispossessed the ball with a precise slide tackle.

This defense not only thwarted Molina's attack but also gave the Villarreal B Team an opportunity for a counterattack.

The match had entered the final stages of injury time, and the atmosphere on the field was extremely tense.

The score between the Villarreal B Team and the Getafe Team remained tight, and a goal from either side could change the course of the match.

The Getafe Team earned a corner kick, their last chance.

The ball was lofted high into the penalty area, and Molina leaped amidst the crowd, his only goal: to head the ball into the net.

Lin Feng also saw this scene; he knew this was the opportunity Molina had been waiting for the entire match.

He didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately rushed towards Molina.

He knew he had to reach the ball before his opponent, otherwise, the consequences would be dire.

Their bodies collided fiercely in mid-air, but Lin Feng did not back down; he used his body to block Molina's vision.

Molina also gave his all, heading the ball fiercely, trying to direct it into the goal.

But just then, Lin Feng's anticipation came into play again, and at the same time, he activated the Powerful Header skill during his jump.

He accurately judged the landing spot of the ball and headed it into a safe area.

The ball arced through the air and then flew far out of the penalty area.

Molina stumbled upon landing, almost falling to the ground.

He looked at Lin Feng, a hint of surprise and helplessness flashing in his eyes.

He knew he had been completely shut down by this opponent.

In this match, he was thoroughly defeated.

Lin Feng also felt a dizzy spell, but his heart was filled with joy and pride.

He knew he had just made a crucial defensive play, preserving the possibility of his team earning a point.

He looked up at the stands, seeing the coach and his teammates cheering and applauding him.

At this moment, he felt that all his efforts were worthwhile.

With the referee's final whistle, the match ended, and the Villarreal B Team and the Getafe Team shook hands, settling for a draw.

For many, this result was undoubtedly a huge surprise.

Before the match, almost no one expected this team, considered a favorite for relegation, to remain undefeated against the strong Getafe Team.

However, the facts astonished everyone.

The Villarreal B Team not only successfully held a draw in this match but also concluded their previous matches with an undefeated record.

Such a performance shocked and bewildered the media and fans alike.

At the post-match press conference, the Head Coach of the Villarreal B Team, Rivaldo, accepted reporters' interviews with a beaming smile.

He stated, "We have always believed in our ability to establish ourselves in this League.

Although we were seen by outsiders as favorites for relegation, we did not give up because of it.

On the contrary, we took these doubts as motivation to move forward."

Rivaldo also specifically mentioned Lin Feng's performance: "Lin Feng is a very important member of our team.

His performance on the defensive end was outstanding, successfully limiting the opponent's offense.

His anticipatory ability and defensive skills were fully demonstrated in this match."

Regarding the team's future, Rivaldo said, "We still have many matches to play, and we cannot say yet that we have completely escaped the danger of relegation.

But we will continue to work hard, fight game by game, and strive to achieve better results in the upcoming matches."

Meanwhile, compared to the Villarreal B Team, which showed tenacious fighting spirit in the secondary League, the Villarreal First Team's situation appeared bleak.

They not only lost in the Champions League play-offs, but to make matters worse, at the critical moment when La Liga was about to kick off, two of their central defenders successively succumbed to injuries.

In the office of the Head Coach of the Villarreal First Team, Escribá, the atmosphere was exceptionally heavy.

Team Director Franco sat opposite him, both with furrowed brows, discussing replacements for the two injured central defenders.

"Our situation is tricky now," Franco broke the silence first, "The transfer window is about to close, and it will be difficult for us to find suitable replacements from the transfer market in such a short time."

"Then we can only look within," Escribá said after a moment of thought, "Let's see if there are suitable candidates in our reserve team and youth team.

Although they may lack experience, at least in terms of tactical understanding and team culture, they should be able to adapt more quickly."

"I will have the scouts and technical team expedite the evaluation of internal players," Franco said, "to see if there are any potential prospects who can be promoted to the Villarreal First Team."
