Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Not Living Corpses

Seeing the few young villagers with guns enter the burning house with Jingxin.

Outside, the gathered villagers all breathed a sigh of relief.

Immediately after, gunshots rang out from inside.

"Finally..." The villagers gnashed their teeth fiercely.

For them, this was truly an unprovoked disaster; everything in the village had been fine, everyone earning money together.

Don't let the village's ordinary appearance fool you; the actual income of each household was very substantial.

Just a few years of saving would be more than enough to live lavishly outside, and young people in the village wouldn't have to bother looking for partners in the city; they could just buy them from outside, though women generally cost a bit more.

But everything was almost ruined; that inexplicable guy, for some unknown reason, came to the village and started causing massive destruction.

However, it was good that it was over; there was nothing to worry about in the face of firearms.

Inside the house at this moment, Jingxin, still getting used to the lingering echo of the loud noise, thought the same.

"Bang!"

Before his gun barrel, Keli, who had been shot once, was desperately propping himself up with his steel fork, refusing to fall.

Without the slightest hesitation, Jingxin and the people around him pulled their triggers again.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Dull gunshots rang out.

Blood splattered as bullets pierced bodies, and the two people in front of him both fell to the ground.

Jingxin saw that one shot had hit the heart, and he lowered his hand.

Jingxin was a bit puzzled; he clearly hadn't seen another person in the car just now, but it didn't matter; both of them had been shot in the heart, so there was nothing more to say.

Raising one hand to his chest, Jingxin spoke.

"Benefactor, I know you can still hear this humble monk's words.

It's rare for a benefactor to have such deep Buddhist affinity, having become a Living Corpse, but why did you choose to do such a thing?

Originally, you could have joined us; we are of the same kind as you and would not harm you.

Even if Benefactor didn't trust us, you could have left; with your skills, the villagers couldn't possibly have caught up to you.

Yet you went around killing people, leading to this outcome."

Of course, Jingxin's words weren't because he truly felt pity or anything else; these words were more like something he was saying to those around him, or perhaps to himself.

Unlike Jingxin's pretense, the few young men who had connections with the yakuza were much more direct.

"Master Jingxin, there's no need to waste so many words on this kind of person!

Brat, since the Master says you can still hear, then listen carefully! You still have family, right? We people are very reasonable and generally don't attack the families of others, but since you killed so many people in our village, you just let them wait!"

As he spoke, a few young men stepped forward, and the one who had been speaking stomped his foot down on Sato Kazuma's corpse's crotch, feeling the splatter beneath his foot.

"We will crush your relatives little by little like this.

We will torture the men once every day, watching them struggle in pain.

We will sell the women to Africa to those black devils who all have AIDS! And we'll record all of it and post it online."

"Do you regret it? Good, you should. This is what happens when you mess with our livelihood. Did you think just because you accidentally gained an immortal body, you could do whatever you wanted? What are you, anyway?

Don't think we can't do it. I can tell you. Forget Matsubushi, we have plenty of people even in Tokyo. Weren't you laughing a lot just now? Why don't you laugh again?"

As he spoke, the man approached Keli and kicked him.

"Hehehe! Do you like hearing me laugh? You'll hear enough of it when I ask you for the names of those people in Tokyo later!"

Keli's voice suddenly came from his fallen body, and the Yakuza who had kicked him was astonished to feel his feet locked as if by the famous heroine's vise from Type-Moon.

"Ah?"

The sudden anomaly made Jingxin somewhat flustered, and he picked up his gun again, but it was too late.

Keli grabbed the Yakuza's foot and pulled him forward with all his might.

"Ugh!" With a cry of surprise, the young man was instantly pulled down.

And Keli, before the others could rush over to try and hold him down, used his waist to leap up.

He elbowed the person in front in the abdominal diaphragm, seizing the firearm from his hand.

Immediately after, Keli felt something cold pressed against his back, where his clothes had long since disappeared. Without hesitation, Keli shot himself in the abdomen.

"Bang!"

The immense pain made Keli's face twitch, but the person behind him let out a terrified shriek.

"Ahhh!"

Not stopping, Keli picked up the pistol and fired at two other people who had also raised their guns.

"Bang bang!"

Keli was shot in the chest again, but the two men instantly fell to the ground. After they reacted, their pleasant screams were heard again, because Keli had never systematically learned to shoot, and in this situation, he was just wildly firing. Neither of them was hit in a vital spot.

But perhaps at this moment, being shot in a vital spot and dying instantly would have been a good thing.

Then, Keli turned around and stepped on the last man's head.

"Wait! No! Don't! My mouth is rotten! I'm sick, don't kill me! Don't kill me!

Please don't kill me, my child is still in kindergarten in Matsubushi, he…"

"Alright, I won't forget your son." Keli stopped the young man, who was tearfully begging for mercy, with a single sentence.

"Bang!"

Keli shot the other person in the abdomen. It wasn't because Keli's marksmanship was so incredible that he could miss even holding it like that, or that he really intended to let this person live.

Keli just wanted him to experience the feeling of slowly bleeding to death.

Finally, Keli turned his head to look at Jingxin, who was still holding a pistol pointed at him but couldn't pull the trigger.

"Master, what you just said seemed to make some sense… Why, why don't you continue?

Oh, I'm very interested in what you said about joining you. What kind of good treatment could I expect if I joined you?"

Looking at Keli, who could still smile amidst the thick smoke and flames, Jingxin's hands trembled uncontrollably. He wanted to pull the trigger and shoot immediately, but he didn't know where to aim.

Would shooting do any good? Even if his heart was pierced, he wouldn't die. What exactly was he? How could he deal with such a thing?

But when he heard Keli's words clearly, he suddenly stopped trembling.

"You… what exactly are you? If you join us, I can guarantee you a higher status than mine. Everything here can be forgiven and forgotten. We cooperate with many important figures! You can totally…"

Jingxin suddenly wasn't afraid anymore, because as soon as the other party spoke, he entered his area of expertise.

So that's it. Did this kid simply not think of this option before?

Yes, people are always like this, greedy and senseless. If a poor boy accidentally gained this strange immortal body, would he choose to fight desperately against some criminal organization, or choose to live a life of nightly revelry, debauchery, and extravagance? It's just a simple question.

If Keli was a terrifying monster with no weaknesses, superior to a werewolf, in his eyes before, now that he had said those words, he was just a person with a weakness laid bare.

After all, he was just an ordinary young man. First, promise him some things, real or not, to stabilize him.

But then he suddenly noticed Keli's hand moving.

Not good! The other party was using words to paralyze him, making him think he could communicate, and then aiming for his heart!!

Jingxin dodged clumsily, letting other parts of his body take damage, and scrambled out of the house.
