Chapter 141 - Chapter 141: Dragons Come and Go

"Head Two, do you feel like someone just looked at us?" In the temporal rift of The Lands Between, one of the Dragonlord's heads opened its eyes and asked the other head beside it.

"What's wrong? Are you going to lose a piece of flesh if someone looks at you?" The Dragonlord's leftmost head also opened its eyes, glancing at the second head.

"It's just strange, that's all. How could anyone see us in the temporal rift?" Head Two controlled one of its dragon hands and scratched its own head.

"There are plenty of strange things. For example, why did our wife run off? Isn't that strange?" The Dragonlord's fourth head also joined the conversation.

He had been sending messages into space with his eyes closed for too long; he was a bit tired and needed a rest.

Placidusax was the first monarch of the elden ring. In The Lands Between, the highest rulers were a monarch and a god; the monarch handled practical matters, and the god was responsible for spiritual faith.

Usually, the monarch and the god were a pair of companions who jointly governed The Lands Between. However, the Dragon Race's god, who was also the Dragonlord's companion, left The Lands Between long ago, and no one knew why.

Not even the Dragonlord himself knew. He simply waited, even going so far as to hide in the temporal rift, just because it could counteract the erosion of time.

However, when Yu Jin awoke in Farum Azula, the Dragonlord he saw was already on the verge of collapse.

Three of its five heads were missing, and its body was full of gaps. Even the innate ability to fly for the Ancient Dragon race was extremely difficult for the Dragonlord at that time.

One could only say that hiding in the temporal rift had been for nothing. If not for Yu Jin, he would probably be dead by now.

"Do you guys think these 'antennas' are useful?" The Dragonlord's last head looked at the towering pillars at the edge of the temporal altar, finally breaking the silence.

That bald man said that if these stone pillars were transformed into antennas, they could amplify their calls so that the entire universe could hear them!

But they had been shouting for so long, why hadn't the Dragon God returned yet? Could he have been lying to them?

You know, for these antennas, they had served as material extractors for several days, to the point where the storms in the temporal rift now made them feel a bit cold.

"Hmph! If you ask me, you're all a bunch of bootlicking dragons. Why are we still looking for her? She left without a word back then; if she wanted to come back, she would have already!" The Dragonlord's middle head scoffed at the bootlicking behavior of his other heads.

However, the other heads clearly disagreed with Head Three's statement.

"Is it bootlicking to fawn over your own wife? I don't think so."

"Head Three, which female dragon have you taken a fancy to now? They are all your juniors; you can't be a beast!"

"Don't, I remember our wife hits very hard. If she comes back and sees us carousing, won't she beat us to death?"

"Our wife should have gone to find a way to deal with the Elden Beast. Now that the Elden Beast has been slain by the new King, it's time to call her back."

At these words, the Dragonlord's four heads all stared at Head Two, because the last sentence was spoken by him.

Those eight golden little eyes seemed to say: "We all came from the same dragon egg, why are you so serious?"

"Look… why are you looking at me! Did I say something wrong?" Head Two looked at his other four selves, his neck slightly tilted back. Had he really said something wrong?

"No, Head Two, we are all very pleased with you. From now on, you eat first, and try to make your head grow even bigger!"

The other four heads looked at Head Two with satisfaction. With him around, they wouldn't have to worry about being deceived.

"What is all this nonsense? If there's nothing to do, just keep sending messages, so you don't have nothing to do all day!" Head Two felt he couldn't relate to them, so he simply closed his eyes again and began sending out his brainwaves.

Seeing Head Two begin his work, the other heads didn't want to disturb him, so they lifted their heads again, and everything returned to stillness.

However, if someone with strong spiritual perception were to come here, they would discover that within the temporal rift of Farum Azula, a powerful and rhythmic brainwave resonated.

These brainwaves emanated from the Dragonlord's five heads, amplified by the pillars at the edge of the altar. They traveled through the temporal rift, reaching into the cosmos of The Lands Between.

If one had considerable skill in spiritual power, they would be able to hear the information contained within. It was a call:

"Wife, please come back—"

... The Dragonlord's heartfelt call traveled and traveled, all the way to the ears of the Greater Will.

The Greater Will heard the Dragonlord's deep and prolonged call, and he picked his ears, finding it hard to maintain composure.

How did The Lands Between become so irreverent ever since Yu Jin arrived? Where had the solemn and austere The Lands Between of old gone?

"Shouting, shouting, if you keep shouting, be careful I don't smash your old den again!" The Greater Will secretly spat. He had once summoned a meteor, destroying the Eternal City and, incidentally, Farum Azula as well.

"What?" Patches, who was writing nearby, stopped and asked the Greater Will. Had he just heard something incredible?

"Nothing at all, you misheard!" The Greater Will looked at the dense numbers on Patches's table and thought he was truly a talent.

The complexity of those things was no less than that of laws.

"Forget it, I can't control you." Patches only wondered for a moment before ignoring the Greater Will. This fellow was true to his name; the more Patches probed, the more unfathomable he seemed.

They were currently in a discussion room, preparing for their second journey.

The sound of pen scratching paper was the main melody here; although there were many other people, everyone tacitly remained silent.

After finishing the last calculation, Patches stretched and then said to the mages not far away, "Who's finished? Let me see."

Determining the positions of two worlds was very troublesome. Although there were no mechanical computers here, there were human computers!

"Me, me, me!" Ranni's four hands were raised high. As one of the top mages in The Lands Between today, mere calculations were naturally no challenge for her.

Ranni's words were a beginning; after her, mages continuously handed their calculation results to Patches.

They were all famous mages of The Lands Between, such as Rennala, Radahn, Sellen, and so on.

It looked like an exam.

Just as the mages were gathered, discussing, Melina finally found an opportunity to approach Lanssangx.

The latter was looking at a mage's notes with a dizzy expression, as if she might faint at any moment.

"Lanssangx? Lanssangx!" Melina patted Lanssangx's shoulder, pulling her back from her dazed state.

"Hmm? Oh, Melina, what's up?" Lanssangx emerged from the endless numbers, patting her chest in fear.

Magic was truly terrifying! Prayer was much more convenient; as long as one's spiritual faith was strong enough, it could be used.

Thinking of this, Lanssangx couldn't help but feel grateful and fortunate. Thanks to the Prayers left by the Dragon Race, otherwise, she, Lanssangx, would probably have to haul goods.

Unable to learn magic and unable to read Prayers, then she would only be able to rely on brute strength.

"I've read the Black Knife's report. It seems there are very few large livestock in that world. The King always walks, which is troublesome. Take this with you." Saying this, Melina extended her hand from under her cloak, revealing a ring in its center.

"This is…" Lanssangx picked up the Spirit Steed Whistle and examined it. It was a very peculiar item; something seemed to be residing within it.

"Inside is the King's mount, Torrent. He really likes this little fellow." Melina recalled the time when she resided within it and traveled with Yu Jin, and a smile unconsciously filled her face.

"Is that so? I will bring it." Seeing Melina's nostalgic and reminiscent expression, Lanssangx couldn't help but sigh.

Falling for Yu Jin was even more tragic than her own situation. Although Vyke was married, Lanssangx could use force, and she had almost succeeded several times!

But who made Melina fall for Yu Jin? For that, Lanssangx could only wish her good luck.

Anyway, she had a premonition: when someone liked Yu Jin, she would automatically become his family. As for what position, it certainly wouldn't be a companion.
