Leon can let the boss safely enter its new phase?
Haha, he doesn't do turn-based combat!
"My man, you. My man, this. My man, Diamond. You're lookin' good, my man."
Seeing such a massive diamond, Leon had to show him what being from Freljord was all about.
Five 'my man's in one sentence, because he's a true Freljordian!
Diamond's body suddenly stiffened.
He felt his actions being constrained by an irresistible force.
When his palm closed around the Ten-in-One Cornerstone, he should have crushed it, then activated the powers of Preservation and The Hunt.
But he didn't do that.
"You already called me 'my man,' so what else is there to say? This little thing is yours."
Instead, he simply gave the Cornerstone away.
He was completely baffled. Diamond couldn't understand the logic behind this action at all. His body moved on its own, and he couldn't stop it.
"You're a real one, my man. Isn't this wild?"
Leon accepted it, then silently enveloped the Cornerstone with the power of The Hunt, as if he knew exactly what Diamond would do next.
[Freljordian Bottle Cap +1]
After giving the item away, Diamond returned to normal as he wished.
"Elation?"
Diamond immediately made a judgment about the anomaly.
"You have many trump cards."
"But as you said before, in the face of absolute power, everything else is a futile effort."
A peculiar method, but ultimately useless.
As Diamond thought this, the Cornerstone in Leon's possession shattered with a crack according to his will.
The Cornerstone was a manifestation of his Emanator authority, but it didn't mean his source of power resided within it.
An Emanator's power must originate from within themselves.
The Cornerstone was just for show, or perhaps a trigger medium.
Even if Leon took it for a moment, it was useless, because the ultimate source of power was still with him.
Even if the Cornerstone was in someone else's hands, he could still use its power directly.
Crack!
The Cornerstone completely shattered!
Diamond no longer held back, the profound aura of Preservation radiating from him in full display!
The cultivation of an Emanator!
And it was still climbing, rising from the magnitude of an Emanator!
"Chanting..."
But in the next second, his script was torn apart. The transformation that was about to take effect was forcefully interrupted by a sudden change!
"The methods you use are not worthy of the righteous Path of The Hunt..."
Diamond's brow furrowed tightly as he felt the power of The Hunt wreaking havoc inside him, and he spoke through gritted teeth.
"You're right, which is why my second identity is the number one general under Elation. Didn't you just guess that?"
In a sense, he was even the number one general under Trailblaze.
Although Aha was an exiled Nameless, he had indeed brought him two new identities at once.
Diamond's face was grim, and he said nothing.
He drove his Preservation power to prevent the external enemy, The Hunt, from advancing further within his body.
Fortunately, Preservation was invincible when it came to defense.
Furthermore, The Hunt did not have the same special advantage against Preservation as it did against Abundance.
Although Leon had tricked him, as a fellow Emanator, Diamond could still handle this negative debuff. This minor interruption couldn't truly affect the tide of battle.
"Fire!"
Diamond shouted, and in the next moment, sparks flew!
BOOM!!!
The Corporation shows no mercy to its enemies. Three thousand Mythus Cannons all aimed at Leon, and in an instant, fired energy beams potent enough to destroy a small planet!
"I can't be bothered to argue. Weapons like yours are a classic case of small-fry thinking."
Leon spoke calmly, unhurried.
"Why don't you learn from a big-shot humanoid weapon like me? I always give a heads-up before I strike."
As his words fell—though the Mythus Cannons were clearly faster-than-light weapons, which logically meant they were impossible to intercept once fired unless you were faster than light—
But...
"Someone of your level has no right to touch me."
It was just an ordinary sentence.
But it forced all the energy beams shooting in from every direction to halt at the very instant before hitting Leon, frozen as if time had been paused.
Everyone from the Corporation present was completely dumbfounded.
They weren't surprised that Leon could block this assault; in fact, they would have been surprised if he couldn't.
Although the Mythus Cannons were anti-planetary weapons... in front of an Emanator, especially a top-tier Emanator, they were still somewhat lacking, not to mention he had Phantylia as backup.
The Mythus Cannons could cause disruption and pressure, and could inflict damage, but it would be very difficult for them to be fatal.
Leon was fully capable of using brute force to nullify the energy produced by the explosion of three thousand Mythus Cannons. He had that power.
The Imaginary Collapse Pulse.
If that project had been successfully developed and mass-produced back then, combined with the fleet numbers of today, perhaps it could have truly been a weapon capable of felling an Emanator in a single strike.
"A bunch of worthless small-fries, now get back where you came from!"
At his roar, a bizarre scene unfolded.
The three thousand rays of light that had stopped before and behind him suddenly began to move again!
Under his command, they instantly reversed course, seeking to deliver a head-on blow to the beings that had fired them!
Diamond snapped back to his senses, noticed the anomaly, and with quick reflexes, timely deployed a barrier with the power of Preservation!
RUMBLE!
He contained all the Mythus Cannon beams in one place!
The highly compressed energy detonated continuously within the domain Diamond created, the deafening roar threatening to shatter eardrums!
"He is also an Emanator of Elation..."
Diamond said with great surprise, his expression struggling to remain calm.
If he hadn't acted in time, those three thousand warships would have been destroyed or severely damaged, and a massive expense would have been added to the Corporation's balance sheet.
Leon had just admitted his identity as a follower of Elation.
Judging from his ability to twist reality with words just now, he was likely also an Emanator under Aha!
I'm sweating bullets, bro.
Do you understand what this means?
He himself is an Emanator, the weapon in his hands is an Emanator, and the additional blessing of Elation on him is also at the Emanator level!
A three-in-one Emanator. Is this truly human?
"If you don't call in a few more Emanators now, or ask the Amber Lord to intervene, you won't get another chance."
Leon said, beckoning to Phantylia. Just like last time, he forcefully enchanted The Vanquisher with her, much to her resistance.
The Hunt and Destruction merged. The complex aura of annihilation mixed with grim slaughter billowed from the bow! Everyone present could clearly feel an instinctual fear of death from it.
"The Corporation's evaluation of you has always been very high, but I never thought we still underestimated you,"
Diamond couldn't help but say, facing unimaginable pressure.
A four-in-one Emanator.
Good heavens, this guy isn't human at all!
"At this moment, are you perhaps thinking of retreating?"
Leon asked as he drew the bowstring covered in teal flames, seeing him suddenly say something that undermined his own prestige.
"The Corporation cannot be insulted. No matter how strong you are, that remains true..."
Diamond shook his head.
This was a battle he could not retreat from, no matter what.
Because it symbolized the dignity of the Corporation, it was a matter of the backbone of Preservation.
If they allowed Leon to take their heads without any resistance, what right would they have to call themselves followers of Preservation?
A being that cannot even protect has no right to call themselves a practitioner of the great Amber Lord's ideals!
"'Unbeatable.' Only a true top-tier powerhouse is worthy of saying those words."
The golden flames of Destruction ignited from the bowstring.
"And you think you are?"
The tail of a purple arrow was nocked on the bowstring, then set alight. It intertwined with the golden electric arcs, slowly wrapping around the Cleansing Arrow from tail to tip!
"I believe I am."
As his voice fell, Taravan, who had been observing from the side, slowly walked to stand beside Diamond.
This undoubtedly meant he was also joining the battle.
The Corporation's two publicly known Preservation Emanators were now standing here.
"I was the one who pushed for the 'Imaginary Collapse Pulse' project back then. Detaining Chadwick's consciousness was also my proposal."
Taravan spoke calmly.
"Now, I'm giving you the chance to seek revenge and kill me, if you can actually do it."
Leon paid him no mind.
His determination was evident only from the Cleansing Arrow he fired, which shot forth at a speed no less than that of the Mythus Cannons!
Enough talk, let's fight!
The Cleansing Arrow was loosed!
The crackling, surging lightning on it triggered a celestial phenomenon within the subspace. The scenery, originally a reflection of the galaxy, was suddenly obscured by dark clouds!
The dark clouds churned with golden lightning, crackling as if they would summon a thunder god to assist in the next second!
Qlipoth looked up, then brought a hammer down, and the dark clouds instantly dissipated.
It seems he really dislikes people interfering with his workspace.
"Everything for the Amber Lord!"
Diamond did not yield in the slightest. He shouted aloud, and after regrouping, the transformative effect brought by the Cornerstone finally arrived!
BOOM!!
A boundless, earth-yellow barrier intercepted the Cleansing Arrow!
Through the combined efforts of Diamond and Taravan, Preservation obstructed The Hunt and Destruction, blocking the arrow that sought to shatter absolute defense!
After a fierce clash between the three forces, the outcome was clear!
The barrier cracked right down the middle with a sharp sound, and the Cleansing Arrow was neutralized!
Logically, it should have been a draw.
But Diamond used the moment the barrier shattered to create a resonance with the sub-space crystal walls forged by the Amber Lord.
He used this to launch an invisible shockwave, launching his first counterattack against Leon!
Leon stood still.
As the shockwave approached, the teal flames around him flared violently. Phantylia directly intervened to block the counterattack for him!
"I don't like leaving a threat that can be eliminated immediately for the next second."
Leon decided to stop playing around with them.
"Since you've admitted you were behind the Chadwick affair, that's good. Now I can give you a quick death."
A torrential power of The Hunt erupted from the Vanquisher!
Leon's entire demeanor changed abruptly. If he was just being serious before, now his combat face was on, ready to end this!
He drew the bowstring back again, but this time, no arrow materialized upon it!
The formless power of Causality was once again pinched between his two fingers.
Leon's eyes shimmered with a golden blaze.
He looked at Taravan. In this state, his enhanced intuition already allowed him to vaguely see his impending fate.
He would meet his end in the past, and welcome vengeance in the future!
Whoosh!
Leon loosed the arrow. The slight breeze from its release stirred the teal flames on the Vanquisher, a gift from Phantylia!
"It's useless."
On the surface, it looked like Leon had drawn an empty bow, but as an old-timer who had lived for several Amber Eras, Taravan knew that was impossible.
"The Enigma has already concealed my past. Your arrow will not find it."
He had heard of The Hunt's power over Causality.
This mechanic was indeed very powerful, no doubt.
But as the saying goes, counters trump everything, and type advantages are divine.
There is a faction in the cosmos that specializes in Causality, one that could even be immodestly called the bane of The Hunt.
—The Enigma.
Those who walk this Path are dedicated to fabricating, confusing, destroying, and erasing the history of the galaxy, determined to shroud the universe in a fog of mystery.
Of course, the mechanisms of these Fictional Historians could naturally be applied to people as well.
For the Corporation, finding a Fictional Historian was not a difficult task.
The Seven-Person Board of Directors, at their P48 level, cherished their lives dearly. Naturally, they took every precaution for their own safety.
This included concealing their own pasts.
A force nurtured for a thousand days is used for a single moment, indeed!
Taravan thought to himself.
The power of the Enigma had hidden his entire past under a fog of mystery. No one could find it, not even the followers of The Hunt, who were famous for their tracking abilities.
Therefore, it was highly unrealistic for Leon to think he could kill him by manipulating Causality.
Taravan was full of confidence.
But in the next second, he felt something wrong with his body. His right hand clutched his left, his left hand clutched his abdomen, and he instinctively hunched over, clearly in agony.
"Cough, cough!"
Taravan coughed a few times, bringing up mouthfuls of fresh blood from his throat.
"How is this possible..."
Taravan's eyes widened. He felt the power of The Hunt appearing out of nowhere inside him, tearing at his organs, and he looked up at Leon as if he'd seen a ghost.
What happened? Why was he able to injure him?
What on earth had transpired!
Taravan was certain that his past was undoubtedly hidden by the Enigma; few besides himself knew of it.
So that raises the question: since he had already taken measures against Causality, by what means did Leon manage to kill him?
Keep in mind, Leon hadn't moved since drawing an empty bow just now, which means the probability of a surprise attack was extremely low.
The only thing that could cause such sudden injuries at this moment, that could kill almost invisibly, was the single arrow Leon had just fired!
"This is impossible!"
Realizing something, Taravan looked at him and spoke with utter disbelief.
He broke through the fog of the Enigma, unraveled the fabricated history, and found the true annals hidden on the other side—Taravan's own past!
Such a thing was simply unheard of!
"Nothing is impossible. If it's me, I can do it."
If Leon said he could do it, then he could do it.
The reason he could do it was actually very simple.
It was that the level of the Vanquisher was simply far too high.
You see, Fictional Historians are also divided into Emanators and Pathstriders.
Some things can only be done by Emanators, but there are other things that even Emanators cannot do.
And that is anything involving an Aeon!
