Chapter 30 - True Name Awakening

Connor, guided by Myael's encouragement, decided to face the challenge of speaking with his teammates for the assignment. His first attempt was with the most intimidating member—Lanius. The armored figure barely looked up from his work, his attention fixed on an unfamiliar arrow design. Unlike ordinary arrows, its tip was not steel but a faintly glowing mana stone.

Connor's unease grew as Lanius calmly explained that it was a prototype explosive arrow. Without hesitation, he demonstrated a shock experiment, striking the protective glass casing to test stability. The sight left Connor chilled, but Lanius remained unfazed, returning to his designs and blueprints as though nothing was unusual. With limited answers, Connor recorded his impressions—Lanius was skilled in mechanical engineering but lacking in communication.

Next, Connor approached Lug, who was struggling with messy notes on the board. Their exchange was blunt. Lug revealed that while he could read, he had never learned how to write, a truth that startled Connor. For someone enrolled in the academy, such a gap in learning seemed unthinkable, yet it fit the hardships of Lug's background.

Before Connor could fully process this, Anastasia suddenly rose to announce a new ritual. With grand theatrics, she declared her intention to awaken the "true names" of her companions, claiming it to be a sacred act tied to her demonic heritage.

One by one, she bestowed names upon the group. Connor became The Pathfinder, a title that he accepted awkwardly, offering hollow praise to satisfy her pride. Myael was called The Shining Opponent, and she responded with graceful politeness, whether out of sincerity or amusement. Lug, impatient and blunt, was given The Fiercely Charged Black Wolf, though his annoyance overshadowed the moment. Lanius received The Fiercely Soaring Flying Bird, which he dismissed as unnecessary before turning back to his work. Finally, Whipney, half-asleep, was named The Silent Laughing Dreamer, though she quickly drifted back into slumber, indifferent to the scene.

To conclude, Anastasia proudly declared her own elaborate true name, surrounding herself with swirling flames and blood-red theatrics. Yet her performance was abruptly cut short when Lug growled at her to stop playing games. Overwhelmed by his pressure, Anastasia extinguished the flames and quietly stepped down, her grand ceremony ending in silence.
