Chapter 128 - Collision of Shadows

The tension in the training hall snapped like a taut wire. The new agents had closed the distance, their presence a chilling blur of shadow and precision. Mukul's team felt the immediate weight of the Puppeteer's design—the agents weren't just strong, they were tactical, moving in ways meant to force mistakes.

"Positions!" Mukul commanded, his voice cutting through the silence. His team responded instantly, forming a protective perimeter. Every movement was deliberate—Priya's energy flared outward, shielding the group, while Kavya and Ansh readied their weapons, eyes scanning for openings.

The first agent lunged. Its speed was unnatural, almost impossible to track. Priya's shield flared just in time, deflecting a strike aimed straight at Kavya. "They're anticipating us!" she shouted, realising these agents were analysing their moves in real-time.

Mukul blocked another strike with a swift pivot, his instincts keeping him one step ahead. "Focus on patterns!" he called. "They're fast, but predictable if we work together!"

Kavya nodded, catching Ansh's signal. In a synchronised move, they flanked one agent, forcing it to split attention. The teamwork wasn't flawless—shadows whipped around them, striking where gaps appeared—but the cohesion gave them an edge.

Priya's eyes widened as she noticed a subtle rhythm in the agents' movements. "They move in pairs—always overlapping coverage. If we break one pair, the rest are vulnerable." She relayed her insight to Mukul, who immediately adjusted their formation.

A clash erupted at the centre. Weapons collided with shadowy limbs, energy bursts illuminated the hall, and the agents' calculated strikes tested every weakness. Mukul's leadership became the anchor; he coordinated counters, redirecting attacks, and exploiting the tiniest lapses in the agents' synchronised movement.

"Now, Ansh!" Mukul shouted as Priya forced one agent off balance with a controlled surge of energy. Ansh struck in unison, the team's combined effort overwhelming their target. The agent dissolved into writhing darkness, only to be replaced by another—a relentless wave.

The battle raged on, the room a whirlwind of motion, light, and strategy. Each team member relied on the others' instincts; their unity was tested under immense pressure. Even as exhaustion gnawed at them, Mukul's calm clarity kept the group coordinated.

Yet in the back of their minds, the Puppeteer's unseen influence loomed. Each agent's arrival felt like a message: the fight was far from over. For every agent they defeated, the Puppeteer would learn, adapt, and escalate.

Breathing heavily, Mukul stepped back momentarily, assessing the battlefield. "They're stronger… smarter. But we're still one step ahead if we stay sharp. Watch each other. Trust each other. That's our advantage."

Priya nodded, her energy shield glowing steadily despite the strain. "We can do this," she said, determination cutting through the fear. "We have to."

And as the next wave of agents moved into striking distance, Mukul's team braced themselves, ready to prove that even the Puppeteer's shadows could be met with unity, strategy, and unyielding courage.

The first clash was just the beginning.
