Chapter 108: Ms. M's True Purpose
"What is this?"
Lu Ze looked at the small booklet Ms. M handed him and asked with a frown.
At this moment, he was confused and wary. Ms. M had been hiding in his house, never going out. Now, she had suddenly slipped out quietly, and he didn't know what she had been up to in secret—ever since she drank that bottle of red liquid, her injuries seemed to have stabilized somewhat, allowing her to move around more frequently.
"The Lord's Holy Scripture."
Ms. M said, "Reading it will help you digest the Listener Beyonder characteristic faster."
You want me to read the True Creator's evil scripture?
What a joke!
"No need, I think it's quite good to digest it slowly like this."
Lu Ze refused.
During this time, he had already acted as a Listener and used the "Listening" ability several times. This included both active attempts and passive receptions. For example, he had risked everything to pray to the Hidden Sage, receiving a large influx of knowledge, and had inadvertently heard what sounded like the Primordial Demoness's whispers from the bone statue.
Although these processes were very stimulating, thanks to these evil gods, his Beyonder characteristic was also rapidly digesting. Once he figured out the key to acting as a Listener, perhaps in another two or three months, the Beyonder characteristic would be completely digested.
However, Lu Ze couldn't help but sigh that the Secrets Supplicant Pathway was truly insane. If he didn't have the illusory sound of the tide to resist, he would probably have long since suffered a mental breakdown and lost control, turning into a Monster, under the influence of various hidden sounds.
But Ms. M was unwilling to wait.
"I don't think you have the right to refuse."
She said with a smile.
"What do you mean?"
"It means, if you refuse, I will let your sister die."
Ms. M said concisely and clearly.
"...!"
Lu Ze's body instantly stiffened. He watched her place the human-skin Holy Scripture in his hand and walked to the coat rack.
Perhaps for convenience when going out, Ms. M was wearing a masculine black overcoat and black trousers today, exuding a certain charm of a woman in men's clothing. But after taking off the overcoat that covered her body, the curves that filled out her white shirt and her slender, toned legs truly displayed her feminine beauty.
However, her appearance did not make Lu Ze feel amazed; it only made him utterly disgusted.
Ms. M returned to the sofa, crossing her rounded legs and clasping her hands. The exquisite rose ring between her tender white fingers was a rich, dripping red.
"Within a week, digest the Listener Beyonder characteristic, and then continue to advance."
Her golden eyes scrutinized Lu Ze, "Do you understand?"
"...I understand."
Lu Ze lowered his gaze.
"That's good."
Ms. M smiled gently, "Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up."
Lu Ze held the so-called Holy Scripture in his hand, took a few steps, and then suddenly said, "Why are you so concerned about my advancement?"
Their previous hatred was as deep as the sea, yet after Ms. M came to his house, she had always intentionally or unintentionally pushed Lu Ze towards a higher Sequence. The reason for controlling his sister also seemed to be to threaten him.
Before this, Ms. M had given two reasons, but they were clearly just to appease him. What was it about him that she coveted so much?
Was it that sound of the tide?
Or was it my inexplicable connection with the True Creator?
A gentle smile appeared on Ms. M's face. She didn't answer but gently tapped the sofa.
"Ugh!"
Intense pain surged from his internal organs; it was the flesh and blood she had left in Lu Ze's body continuously inflicting pain. Lu Ze immediately fell to the ground, his handsome face pale. He groaned, trembled, and gripped the Holy Scripture tightly, making it creak.
A moment later, Ms. M tapped the sofa again. The pain receded like a tide, leaving Lu Ze completely drained and sweating profusely.
"Pick up the Holy Scripture and start reading."
He heard Ms. M's faint voice.
"Okay."
Lu Ze caught his breath, climbed up, took the Holy Scripture, and sat in the corner of the sofa.
He opened the booklet. The pages inside had the same texture as the cover: soft, yellowed, and carrying an ancient scent. Poetic sentences written in Ancient hermes were inscribed on them. The content seemed to be some kind of religious scripture, praising the greatness of "the Lord."
"Don't read it silently, read it out loud."
Ms. M was still reminding him.
Her body leaned closer to Lu Ze, seemingly expectant.
Lu Ze's ears twitched, and he heard sounds coming from her—her wounds were tearing and healing, and the sound seemed to have grown louder compared to when she had just drunk the red liquid.
Perhaps it was because her injuries could only stabilize for a period, which was why she was in such a hurry.
Lu Ze had a guess in his mind.
So, she cares about me so much, could it be that she plans to eat me and gain a new body?
But it was still very strange. Logically, the Aurora Order's divine envoys were all fanatical believers of the True Creator, completely disregarding their own lives for the Lord. In Enmat Harbor, she could certainly be called a fanatic, but now she didn't seem like that. She hadn't worn a white robe for a long time, and she hadn't prayed to the True Creator either.
Thoughts whirled in Lu Ze's mind, but he didn't have much time to think. Ms. M was watching right beside him, so he could only bite the bullet and begin to recite the words on the page.
"In the beginning, the Lord returned from chaos."
Boom!
His head felt like it had exploded, emitting a violent sound. Warm liquid quickly flowed from his nose; without a doubt, he was having a nosebleed again.
What the hell is this?
Lu Ze thought with lingering fear, looking up at Ms. M, only to find that her face still wore a smile as she watched him.
"Continue."
She said gently and undeniably.
Damn Lunatic!
Lu Ze couldn't help but curse silently. He could only pick up from where he had left off and continue reciting in hermes:
"The Lord said, 'Let there be light between heaven and earth.' And so, there was light."
With every word he read, his brain felt as if it had been struck hard by a hammer. His vision quickly blurred, and a constant buzzing filled his ears.
However, as he read, he realized that this seemed to be a story about the Original Creator's creation of the world.
In this world, there was also a creation myth: an Original Creator created all things and then transformed into the world, from which the Seven Deities were born, and history began its era. The Goddess Church's scripture, "Apocalypse of Night," also contained similar records.
And this "Holy Scripture," seemingly made of human skin, could it be the Aurora Order's version of history written from their perspective?
But why is this thing so harmful? I just read a bit, and my head feels like it was hit by a car.
As he read, Lu Ze's consciousness became somewhat blurred. He felt strange murmurs in his ears, and his vision gradually became enveloped in illusions.
