Chapter 26 - His past

After the test, Scarface's group were allowed inside where Anna delegated them to be under Old Pipe's supervision. Any arguments Bob and Johnson had, had died in their hearts after realizing how formidable this particular group was.

Old Pipe sighed as he looked at the three standing before him. They looked like college delinquents, especially Bob with his bloodshot eyes.

"First of all, you guys should get a warm bath. You smell awful."

The old man scrunched up his nose, stumping the three. They didn't really care about such trivial things in the apocalypse. But being scolded by an old man made their faces twitch.

"After that, you can go and help them at the construction site. Scarface, your class would help speed things up. You two can just support him from the sidelines."

After giving them clear orders, he told Shadow to keep an eye on them in case they had any ulterior motives.

Gazing up at the sky, he couldn't help but think.

"Where the hell has that white-haired zombie gone off to. It's almost a week already."

....

Meanwhile, Leon slept soundly in Mira's abode then woke up early in the morning. Ensuring he didn't alert anyone, he sneaked into the girl's room to speak with her privately.

Seeing as she was sprawled defenseless on the bed, Leon's lips twitched. Even after becoming an evolved, she was still a naive school girl at heart.

'Sigh...'

Taking a moment, he reassessed her girly assets. They weren't small, nor were they too large. Standard enough to fit into his palms.

'What a strange chain of thoughts...'

His inhumanity denied him full arousal from the view as his member only twitched, then went silent.

Tap!

He tapped the table behind her loud enough to wake. Yawning, the girl stretched and raised herself, looking utterly enchanting. Leon began to praise John's abilities to resist such obvious temptations everytime he came to wake her up.

"Huh? Leon?"

Finally coming to her senses, the girl was surprised upon seeing him.

"I would be leaving this morning, Mira." He told her. Her expression turned downcast for a moment before she asked. "You can't stay longer?"

Leon shook his head decisively. "I can't. I've been gone for too long and my sister might start to worry."

"I see. It's fine then, we might get to meet again in the future."

She couldn't follow him because that would mean abandoning family. He also understood this, that was why he didn't suggest the idea. Also, John's smiling face unnerved him. He didn't want to be around that guy if possible.

"In case you need my help in the future, you can always come find me at the Glass Tower in Night Veil City."

"Alright."

After exchanging a light hug, Leon slipped out of the house unnoticed by the others and returned to Kevin's camp.

Luckily, the other residents had hidden themselves in their houses and didn't dare come out, especially after their leadership were brutally killed in battle.

Using a mini truck, Leon claimed the spoils from the camp—a reward crucible, several first level evolved crystals, five second level essence crystals and three One-Star weapons. He also packed the food supplies he saw, after all, producing food like cereals was a hassle currently.

Under the confused and frightened gazes of the villagers, he drove off. He began to make his way back to Night Veil City.

Occasionally, he'd stop by fuel stations to refill the car tank and even collect excess into metal gallons.

'Resources are important in the apocalypse.'

His past life had taught him that in a hard way. When the apocalypse started, he had been a clueless student, panicking just as much as the others.

He lived miserably in the first month, constantly risking his life just to scavenge for food. Later, he was taken in by some group who claimed to be Godsend. He worked for them, scavenging for provisions while risking his life. But at least, he ate to his satisfaction.

That was until a zombie horde led by a Third Level Zombie attacked their settlement and killed most of them.

The others had fled, including him. Survival came first. With a sense of belonging between the survivors, they stuck together and formed a wild group that used several underhanded tactics to kill zombies or even steal from other camps. Very quickly, they became a renowned notorious group.

Finally, on a fateful day, they were apprehended by a camp named Solaris Domain. When those guys saw how useful they could be, they immediately gave them evolution potions and armors, sending them to hunt beasts alongside their own warriors.

After five years, the Solaris Domain had grown into a large and reputable power in the whole of America, possessing several bases all over the country.

Leon and his group had grown quite strong since then, becoming Fifth Level Evolved. And on that fateful day, they had been assigned on a mission to Seattle. That was how they were betrayed by the Solaris Domain and we're wiped out. Luckily, he had been reincarnated into the past.

'Luck...'

Leon couldn't help but let out a hollow laugh. Was it truly luck that he had the Re-entrance Card? Or was it a controlled turn of events, orchestrated by someone behind the scenes?

'I have no idea... But I'll find out eventually.'

Because in this life that he had come, he wasn't just trying to survive, but he was determined to reach the top of the world and discover the true nature of the Code 408D.

The sight of the Glass Tower from the borders of the city awoke him from his reminiscing thoughts. With a smile, he drove into the city.

Despite the loud sound of the truck, zombies ignored it because they couldn't smell a human in it. So their simple minds just regarded it as a moving building with a loud mouth.

In twenty minutes, he arrived at the Tower. Looking out from the glass, he was pleasantly surprised by the progress of the ongoing construction.

'It seems they would be completed before the 'appearance' starts.'

His arrival quickly drew attention as he drove through the gates, stopping at the parking lot. He put on a sunshade glasses and picked up a bottle of fruit juice. Taking a sip, he leisurely alighted the vehicle.
