"Big Sis Kallen, I'm here to save you!" Standing on the golden cross, Kiana shouted, her long white hair flying, adding a heroic aura to her presence.
Kallen looked at Kiana on Judah and sighed. *What's the point? There's no reason for me to live in this world anymore.*
Looking at the resolute Kiana, Kallen shouted, "Miss Kiana, give up! I won't go with you!"
Kiana was stunned by these words, but the dozen or so black-clad men who had surrounded her gave her no time to think.
"You little brat, we let you off the hook last time, and you're still so reckless! Since you're looking for death yourself, you can't blame anyone else," one of the men shouted. "Everyone, get her!"
Just as the group of black-clad men were about to move, a black knight's sword suddenly cut through the air, landing between them and Kiana. A figure, also wearing a gray cloak, landed steadily on the sword. Under the cloak, short white hair looked particularly eerie.
"I say, a group of men ganging up on a little girl isn't a very nice thing to do, you know," Ming Yu said with a light laugh, flipping back his hood.
"It's you two troublemakers again. You won't get away with it this time," the black-clad man, who clearly recognized Ming Yu and Kiana, immediately stepped forward. "Last time, Lord Arthur was unwilling to deal with you. Let's see what he has to say this time. Get them!"
Seeing so many people draw their swords and charge at her, Kiana said worriedly, "Ming Yu, are you sure you can handle this many?"
"Of course. Don't underestimate me!" With that, Ming Yu leaped off the sword's hilt and charged towards the group of men. He swept his right hand over Black Abyss, and the knight's sword fell into his grasp, wisps of black mist pouring from the blade.
Holding Black Abyss, Ming Yu's speed was astonishing. He crossed the distance of several dozen meters in the blink of an eye, charging into the ranks of the black-clad men like a tiger into a flock of sheep.
In a panic, the men closest to Ming Yu swung their swords at him. Seeing three or four blades coming his way, Ming Yu smiled slightly. With Black Abyss, all his abilities were greatly enhanced. To ordinary people, the swift slashes were formidable, but to him, they were nothing. How could such slow attacks possibly hit him?
Under the enhancement of Black Abyss, Ming Yu's already superhuman physical abilities were even more terrifying to these men. Relying on his far superior reaction speed and physical strength, he could clearly see the trajectory of every falling blade. And with every strike of his own sword, he left a wound on one of the black-clad men.
As a weapon that inherited a part of the Herrscher of Death's authority of [Withering], how could the wounds inflicted by Black Abyss be simple? Even though Ming Yu deliberately avoided vital points, the corrosive wounds gradually robbed them of their ability to fight.
"Kiana, now's your chance! Go save Kallen!" Ming Yu, entangled with the men, shouted to Kiana.
"Oh, right!" Kiana, who had been watching Ming Yu fight, snapped back to reality, jumped off the cross, and rushed towards Kallen.
A man in black tried to intercept Kiana but was blocked by the knight's sword in Ming Yu's hand.
"The girls have secrets to talk about. It wouldn't be very nice of you to butt in!" Ming Yu taunted, easily parrying the man's sword with Black Abyss.
"Damn you!" the man cursed, forced to turn his attention back to Ming Yu.
As she ran towards Kallen, Kiana's hands were not idle. Her dual pistols danced, firing a stream of bullets at the men surrounding Kallen. It had to be said that Kiana's marksmanship was excellent. Her perfect accuracy combined with the power of Elf's Bow was devastating, and the men around Kallen fell one by one.
But Kiana was also smart enough to avoid Arthur. She knew that someone like him couldn't be taken down by bullets, and Arthur simply stood there quietly, waiting for Kiana to approach, making no move to intercept her.
By the time Kiana reached Kallen's side, the only man in black still standing was Arthur. Gripping Elf's Bow tightly, Kiana looked at Arthur with extreme caution and said, "Even though I know you're strong, I won't give up. I will take Big Sis Kallen away today!"
Though her words were defiant, Kiana was inwardly complaining about how long Ming Yu was taking to deal with those small fries and why he hadn't come over yet.
Looking at the determined eyes of the young girl before him, and then at the chaotic square, Arthur sighed and said, "Take Lady Kallen and go. Never come back."
"Huh?" Kiana was stunned. According to the script, shouldn't they fight first, then she would be at a disadvantage, and in a moment of crisis, her cosmos would explode, and she would defeat him? And then, she and Big Sis Kallen would...
"You're letting us go?" Kiana asked in surprise.
Arthur said in a world-weary voice, "I watched Lady Kallen grow up. She is a true hero. I actually understand that Lady Kallen might be right, that that Crystal will truly bring disaster. But I am, after all, a member of Schicksal, a member of the Kaslana family."
Kallen also looked at Arthur in surprise, tears welling in her eyes. "Grandpa Arthur, if you let me go, what about the Overseer..."
Arthur shook his head and said slowly, "I'm already an old man. What more can the Lord Overseer do to me?"
Kiana bowed gratefully to Arthur and said, "Thank you, old grandpa. I will definitely get Big Sis Kallen away from here."
Untying Kallen's ropes, Kiana helped her up and said, "Big Sis Kallen, let's go quickly."
Shaking her head with a bitter smile, Kallen did not agree. Instead, she said, "Miss Kiana, you should go. I no longer have a reason to live."
"But..." Kiana wanted to say more, but she was suddenly interrupted by a series of beastly roars. She looked around and saw that monsters of all sizes had appeared in the city and were slaughtering the citizens. Most of these monsters were over five meters tall, with unreasonably muscular bodies covered in tough black skin, and bulging red veins, inspiring fear in all who saw them.
Arthur's eyes widened as he witnessed this dramatic turn of events, trembling as he said, "How... how could this happen? How did the Honkai Beasts get out?!"
Just then, a blond man dressed as a nobleman walked out from the shadows of the square, laughing loudly. "It was my plan, of course. This way, the forces Schicksal deployed in the city are completely useless."
Glancing at the still-confused Kiana, Otto gave an elegant bow and said gratefully, "Of course, I must also thank you and your friend for your help. It made my plan go much more smoothly."
"Eh?" Kiana was getting more and more confused.
Walking to Kallen's side and looking at her ravaged figure, a fanatical gleam appeared in Otto's eyes. "I have come for you, Kallen, my goddess! While Schicksal's forces are busy cleaning up these Honkai Beasts, let us leave with our heads held high!"
Kallen looked at the smug Otto, her heart filled with anger. She demanded, "You were the one who released those Honkai Beasts! Do you know how many innocent people will be harmed because of this!?"
"Haha~" Otto laughed complacently. "Don't kid me, my goddess. The lives of all those commoners put together are not worth a single strand of your hair!
Nothing can stop us now! Let's leave Schicksal. If you still want to fight the Honkai and save the world, we can go to Shenzhou. If you're tired, we'll forget everything and travel. We can even go to the Far East, the place you miss the most."
*SLAP!* Kallen sent the laughing Otto sprawling to the ground with a slap. Looking down at the fallen Otto, Kallen shouted, "Don't insult me, Otto! A Kaslana is a guardian of the people, a shield for the people. I will not run away! A Kaslana will never abandon her people!"
