Chapter 165 - Chapter 2: The Battlefield

The silver-grey floating warship high in the sky moved slowly, positioning itself above an area dense with Honkai Beasts. Then, a massive barrage of shells was unleashed, the sound of explosions echoing ceaselessly.

Accompanied by the intense artillery fire, three small figures cut through the thick smoke and shot down towards the battlefield below.

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

Three dull thuds sounded in succession as the three figures slammed into the Honkai Beast-infested battlefield, drawing the attention of a crowd of beasts.

From the human perspective, the Honkai Beasts had suddenly invaded their territory and destroyed their homes.

But for these Honkai Beasts, these three humans had undoubtedly and arrogantly intruded upon their domain.

As beings whose mission is to destroy civilization, this was a provocation they could not tolerate. Thus, the Honkai Beasts in a large area were naturally drawn to these few humans.

Their twenty-meter-tall bodies granted the Honkai Beasts immense destructive power, allowing them to effortlessly demolish the traces of civilization left by humans and physically eliminate the frail-bodied humans. This destructive power became particularly terrifying when their numbers reached a certain level.

Facing a double-digit number of Honkai Beasts at once was often the limit for most Valkyrie squads. When that number rose to three digits, even a Valkyrie squad had to consider retreating.

But for an elite squad, even when surrounded by hundreds of Honkai Beasts with nearly a thousand more as backup, assassinating the enemy leader remained their only option, and a choice they had to make!

This was the significance of an elite squad as the tip of the spear on the battlefield!

Looking at the Honkai Beasts gathering around, Ming Yu's expression didn't change in the slightest. He didn't even draw his weapon, instead calmly confirming his companions' positions.

Despite jumping from the ship at the same time and practicing multiple times, there was always a slight discrepancy between the actual landing point and the intended target. On a dangerous and complex battlefield, regrouping with comrades was always the top priority.

Seeing his two comrades separated by several Honkai Beasts, Ming Yu narrowed his eyes slightly and quickly made a decision.

He shifted Jizo Mitama to his right hand, and with his left, he instantly drew Sakura Fubuki. With a slight sway of his body, he rushed towards the sword-wielding Giovanna.

Although Ajifu, who used dual pistols, was less skilled in close combat, she was an A-rank Valkyrie after all, so her survival on the battlefield was not something Ming Yu needed to worry about. In contrast, Giovanna, a B-rank Valkyrie, was clearly the one to be more concerned about.

As Ming Yu began to move, Ajifu's command came through the comms channel in a timely manner: "Giovanna, hold your position. Ming Yu and I will regroup with you immediately!"

"Received!" he replied in a low voice, not slowing his pace as he charged towards Giovanna.

"Understood, you guys hurry up," Giovanna said, slightly out of breath, clearly already engaged with the Honkai Beasts.

Soon, relying on the movement techniques learned from Fu Hua, Ming Yu swiftly dodged one Honkai Beast after another, not getting bogged down in any fight. His body moved without pause through the battlefield, and the brown-haired Valkyrie's situation came into his view.

Forcefully parrying the longsword of a Knight-class Honkai Beast in front of her, Giovanna quickly leaped to the left, narrowly avoiding the stomp of another Chariot-class Honkai Beast.

At the same time, the red greatsword in the Valkyrie's hand swung around and struck heavily on the Honkai Beast's foreleg, leaving a deep gash.

On a battlefield of this level, while Giovanna couldn't be said to be in her element, she was not the type to fall at the first touch. Otherwise, she wouldn't be on this battlefield.

But even if she wouldn't be defeated immediately, danger was ever-present, such as a certain Templar-class Honkai Beast that had quietly appeared behind her.

Just as the Honkai Beast was about to thrust its white spear, a black figure suddenly flashed past, followed by a crimson sword qi that erupted to a length of ten meters, cleaving the Templar-class Honkai Beast, shield and all, diagonally in two.

Only after hearing the sound of the Honkai Beast's dismembered parts hitting the ground did the brown-haired Valkyrie react. She patted her ample chest with some lingering fear and said to the man who had appeared beside her, "That was a close one!"

Glancing at Giovanna's exaggerated expression, Ming Yu didn't reply, instead looking expressionlessly at the remaining two Honkai Beasts.

Before he could swing his sword again, two red streams of light, each half a meter in size, shot straight through the two Honkai Beasts, blowing a large hole in their massive bodies, the edges slightly scorched.

His gaze shifted to the red-haired Valkyrie who had arrived, and Ajifu lowered the crimson pistols in her hands.

"The captain was a step too slow this time," Giovanna said with a smile, sticking her tongue out at Ajifu.

Ajifu's brow furrowed imperceptibly. She forced herself to ignore her free-spirited team member and said in a deep voice, "Since everyone is safe, let's proceed to the next step: kill the Emperor-class Honkai Beast on the battlefield!"

Nodding solemnly, Ming Yu slid his feet and was the first to charge towards the location marked on the map.

"Yes!" Receiving the captain's order, Giovanna also wiped the extra expressions from her face and answered seriously.

Although her actions were somewhat whimsical, she knew when to restrain herself and when to be serious.

Nodding with satisfaction, Ajifu also stayed close behind Ming Yu, occasionally raising her dual pistols to clear out enemies on either side of their path.

After a final glance at the three Honkai Beasts that had fallen here, Giovanna also followed Ajifu's pace, closely guarding her side and blocking any attacks she couldn't defend against in time.

Ming Yu, charging at the front, was like the tip of a spear tearing through the beast horde. The red blade and black sword in his hands swung in unison, cutting down one Honkai Beast after another along the way.

With a series of rhythmic thuds, Ming Yu's body continuously twisted and leaped. Honkai Beasts were dismembered in his hands, the red and black lights of his swords flashing incessantly, adding a unique visual effect to this one-sided battle.

Watching the black figure that barely paused, as the Honkai Beasts along the way couldn't even slow him down for a moment, Ajifu, who was firing her pistols, couldn't help but glance over.

*So this is 'Ghostblade'!* she thought.

Praising him inwardly, Ajifu couldn't help but speed up a bit to avoid being left behind by the person in front.

As Squad 7 began their move, a large number of regular troops opened fire in unison, pinning down the Honkai Beasts on the battlefield to lighten the burden on the Valkyries as much as possible.

With the coordinated effort of the entire team, the members of Squad 7 quickly broke through the beast horde's encirclement and saw the king of this battlefield.

Surrounded by dozens of Templar-class Honkai Beasts, an exceptionally tall red figure slowly turned around. Its alien carapace stared emotionlessly at the three members of Squad 7. A crimson light flickered in its gem-like eyes, and a terrifying aura rushed towards the Valkyries.
