Chapter 77 - Let her go

After the training. The Students returned to their classrooms, their books and conversations as though nothing had happened, the previous tension dissolving into whispers. Mia was barely seated when Eliose leaned close, her brows drawn together in worry.

"You okay?" Eliose whispered.

Mia nodded, though she wasn't sure she meant it. Her palms were still slightly damp. Something had happened—something she hadn't even understood.

Before she could explain, a staff member appeared at the door.

"Miss Ashford, the nurse needs to see you at the infirmary for a follow-up check."

Eliose volunteered instantly. "I'll go with her."

The nurse waved her hand dismissively. "No need. She'll be fine. It's just quick checks."

Eliose bit back her protest, anxiety tightening her face. Mia squeezed her friend's hand reassuringly before letting go, gathering her bag and walking out. With a bit of wonder in her mind about where Eliose really belonged to.
