Chapter 43 - Going to the Publisher to Submit

"You're awake, Lin Feng. You didn't stay up all night drawing manga again, did you?"

"Did you have a good nap during lunch break?"

Shizuka, who was reading a book nearby, noticed Lin Feng had woken up and put her book down momentarily, smiling as she asked.

"Yeah… I took a little nap, and I feel pretty good now."

Lin Feng was a little helpless that Shizuka had guessed he stayed up all night drawing manga. There was nothing he could do; he couldn't count on Doraemon, so he had to rely on himself.

"By the way, Shizuka, did you put my jacket on me just now?"

To change the subject, Lin Feng took the jacket from behind him, put it on, and asked Shizuka.

"Um, because there was a cool breeze blowing in from the classroom just now, so…"

Shizuka's cheeks flushed slightly as she spoke, her actions having been completely instinctive.

Only after she'd finished did she slowly realize that such a gesture might be a bit too intimate between classmates.

Fortunately, it was during the lunch break, and except for Nobita, who was prone to jealousy, no other classmates had seen what had happened. Thus, Shizuka hadn't paid much attention to it.

And Nobita's seat was quite a distance from where she and Lin Feng were, so it would have been difficult for Shizuka to notice Nobita without looking back.

So, now that Lin Feng had brought it up, Shizuka blushed shyly.

"Thank you, Shizuka."

Lin Feng smiled, expressing his gratitude as he looked at Shizuka, whose face was slightly flushed.

From the time he could remember, even before the transmigration, Lin Feng had always lived alone, with no relatives or close friends.

He gradually got used to being by himself, so even after transmigrating, he still lived alone, but he never felt lonely or isolated.

However, humans are, after all, social creatures.

This feeling of being cared for and looked after was something Lin Feng was experiencing for the first time, and it was really quite nice.

"It's... it's nothing."

Seeing Lin Feng's smiling face as he sincerely thanked her, Shizuka turned away, feeling a little embarrassed, and began to prepare the textbooks needed for the next class.

Lin Feng didn't say anything further.

Maintaining this kind of relationship for now was also quite good.

...

A week later.

Over the past week, besides attending school as usual, Lin Feng spent all his free time working on his manga.

Fortunately, hard work pays off. After all this time, Lin Feng finally finished the first three chapters and the outline.

Today was the day to submit his work to the publishing house.

Looking at the publishing house's gate, Lin Feng steadied himself and walked inside.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

The receptionist at the door was a young woman in a black professional suit. She approached Lin Feng with a standard smile and asked.

"Oh, hello, I'm here to submit a manuscript."

Lin Feng raised the file bag containing the artwork and replied.

"Submit...?"

The receptionist, dressed in professional attire, couldn't help but size Lin Feng up and down after hearing him.

"Is there something wrong?"

Lin Feng subtly raised an eyebrow and asked, looking into the other person's eyes.

"Oh, oh, sorry."

"It's nothing. Please follow me. If you're submitting a manuscript, you'll need to fill out a form first."

"Excuse me, what kind of work are you submitting?"

The receptionist reacted quickly, immediately putting on a smile.

She led Lin Feng towards a reception room, asking with a smile.

When she saw Lin Feng enter, she thought he had some other business. She didn't expect him to be submitting a manga.

Although the publishing house receives many authors submitting works every day, it was the first time they'd received someone Lin Feng's age.

When did elementary school students start creating?

However, upholding her professional ethics, the receptionist still warmly received Lin Feng.

Her surprise had only been a natural reaction.

"Shonen manga."

Lin Feng smiled slightly as he answered.

"I see. Then please fill out this form first. After you're done, I'll send your work to the editor for review."

The receptionist returned to her professional demeanor, explaining the submission process to Lin Feng step by step.

"Alright, thank you."

Lin Feng nodded and took the form and pen from her, beginning to fill it out.

It was essentially a registration form. The information required included the category of Lin Feng's submission, its title, the author's name, age, home address, and contact information.

It didn't take long for Lin Feng to finish filling out the form. He then handed it, along with his artwork and outline, to the receptionist.

"Alright, please wait here for a moment."

The receptionist poured Lin Feng a glass of water and left after asking him to wait.

Soon, Lin Feng was the only one left in the reception room.

"Phew..."

Lin Feng leaned back on the sofa and let out a sigh of relief.

It was only now that his mood completely relaxed.

After submitting his artwork for approval, the weight on Lin Feng's heart finally lifted a little.

It wasn't like he had been nervous before.

It was his first time submitting something in person like this.

He didn't know what kind of editor he would meet...

Even though Lin Feng knew that the brilliance of Demon Slayer would definitely make it a bestseller, becoming the center of attention,

everything was still uncertain until the work was approved by the editor and signed for publication.

"Hello, are you the one who just submitted the manga?"

Soon, a pretty girl with a neat, wine-red short haircut, wearing casual clothes, pushed open the door of the reception room. Her face seemed to be a little excited.

"That's right, it's me."

Lin Feng nodded slightly at the girl with the wine-red hair as she walked in, a little puzzled.

Are all the publishing house editors this young nowadays?

The girl who just walked in didn't seem much older than him.

And, looking at her refreshing, neat, wine-red short hair, Lin Feng felt like he'd seen her somewhere before.
