Hours before the collapse of the central area of Último Bastión.
A huge Orc stood watching a magical sphere; the contraption served as a receptacle for the different orders given on the battlefield.
Around him were orcs wearing heavy dark armors, which left exposed their chests full of battle scars.
They were all accompanying their leader, watching the orb attentively, while the small mages, compared to the orcs, did their work.
Anyone else would have felt intimidated by the presence of fierce and large humanoids, as orcs would be, whose smallest member was as large as a human considered tall.
Then, a slender female figure appeared from the crowd. Her hair was white, as were her eyes. She was much taller than the male average, and that, added to the lack of fat in her cheeks and the red armor she wore, gave her a supernatural and ghostly, almost terrifying look.
"No there's no point in you being here, the messages won't arrive faster if you stay staring at that orb like fools."
Orcium smiled when he saw his old comrade.
"Heh, sorry, it's just that so much waiting makes me anxious, my hands are itching. While everyone fights, we're here sitting, helpless."
Victoria returned the smile.
"You're not the only one, I'm also very hungry, but at the war council they mentioned that most likely we'll be the ones to experience the most action."
"How strange, besides Orcium, Arthur is supposed to be around here."
"Oh, Orcium and Arthur? I assumed he'd be with you."
"Hmmm, that lucky one, apparently he was called to support Michael. Aaah... Sometimes I wish I were like you, without a legion, being able to go from battle to battle."
Victoria, at that moment, looked at the rest of the Orcs, worried that Orcium's words might have provoked the discontent of his legion.
But to her surprise, most nodded in agreement.
"These crazy guys really love battle. Well, I'm not very different."
"More than being from battle to battle, I would like to be next to Eithne."
"Ooooh, that's right, you and the little elf are lovers, hehe. I was very surprised a few days ago, I would never have imagined you were a man."
Victoria paused for a moment to analyze what Orcium had said.
"Wait, did this guy come to the conclusion that I must be a man?"
"Hey, what do you mean by you never imagined I was a man?"
"Well, you know, you're so thin and paleish, plus you have that long hair of yours. I thought you were a woman at some point, hahaha."
Victoria gave him the sternest look she could at that moment.
"Orcium, I am a woman."
"HEHEHE, good one, mock this old man."
"I'm serious."
"Wait, what? You're serious?"
Orcium, suddenly, seemed noticeably confused and disturbed.
"Wait, if you two are women, then how do you do it? I mean, you don't have anything down there, right? No, wait, do vampires have one?"
Victoria, at that moment, gave up and rolled her eyes.
"Forget it, let's focus on important things."
Orcium stayed staring into nothingness for a good while, thinking about the information that had just been revealed to him.
At that moment, the orb began to glow.
"Attention to commanders Orcium and Victoria: tremors have been detected in the central area of Último Bastión. We will send Geomancers to assist you; your orders are to stop the enemies and prevent them from rising to the surface."
The orcs rejoiced along with Orcium and began to beat their chests and let out war cries. They were excited to finally be able to spill their blood, but above all, the blood of their enemies.
At that moment the Geomancers arrived.
"Guide us to the battle, mages."
"YEEES, I want to go crush a couple of skulls!"
"Let's go, let's go, let's go!"
The orcs were beginning to lose their calm.
Victoria stayed a little farther from Orcium's noisy legion.
"Aaaah... that's what happens when you gather the orc race and the berserker class."
Each and every member of Orcium's legion were rank three channeler warriors.
"Although they have adapted well to the environment, I still remember the beginning, when we had just arrived at Último Bastión, arguments would break out between the orcs and the other legions. The only ones they got along with were Zorig's beast legion, but over the years they've become good comrades."
Victoria's head filled with memories of those times.
"I wish I had treated them better back then. In the end, all of us are fighting with all our strength to survive."
"Eithne, please, stay safe."
A light prayer left her lips, and she wished the gods would hear it. A useless wish; she herself, as the chosen of the god of death, knew very well the current situation of the gods.
"Abandoned to our fate, in a world that seems to be slowly coming to its destruction."
Finally, they arrived at the area where they would begin their preparations to enter battle.
"Commanders, we will take care of keeping the rest of the excavations closed; the largest of them is being carried out right beneath us."
Orcium, then excited, spoke.
"Very well, then make a hole down here, we'll go straight for them and take them by surprise."
Orcium smiled in a bestial way, showing his long fangs. The rest of the orcs began to strike their weapons against their pauldrons, intoning war chants in the form of roars and growls.
WAR! WAR! WAR!
Victoria positioned herself right next to Orcium, preparing for the drop.
"I could get used to this."
Said Victoria, while she was infected by the battle spirits the orc warriors had.
The Geomancers positioned themselves around the great legion and, at that moment, the earth itself opened, letting the warriors plunge down upon their enemies.
In the underground, a group of scarab workers were working with the serpent-men to make a path to the surface and facilitate the invasion in a surprise manner.
When they felt the earth begin to tremble, they thought: an earthquake. Or maybe the situation above had become dangerous enough for the aftermath of the combat to reach down here.
At that moment, finally, the earth opened and, through the hole, orcs began to fall, who were prepared to begin the fight.
The fierce orcs first encountered the scarab workers, whom they immediately began to tear apart with their axes and swords while shouting:
WAR! WAR! WAR!
At that moment Orcium fell.
"KILL THEM ALL, LET THEIR DEATHS SERVE AS FOOD FOR THE GOD OF WAR!"
