Chapter 49 - Demonic Raid

Six Rank Three Gu Masters lay in ambush, suppressing their auras to the utmost degree, making them difficult to detect. Even so, tension and anxiety were still visible on their faces as they stared at a valley five hundred feet away.

After six days of searching, they finally managed to find a resource point suitable for their plan. However, this resource point was concealed by a Gu formation that prevented others from discovering it.

They barely managed to detect traces of this Gu formation, and after careful investigation, they were able to pinpoint its location. The formation covered a large portion of the valley and concealed it from view, which meant that even if a Gu Master passed by without activating any investigative Gu, they would not notice anything unusual.

However, everyone in their group possessed two or more Gu worms specialized for investigation, which made finding the resource point possible. Now that they had found it, they were preparing to launch an attack and break the Gu formation.

Fang Tian squatted down, glanced at the members of his group hiding beside him, and spoke in a low voice:

"I will advance with Jun Yun first. We will destroy the Gu formation, and if there are any enemies inside, we will fight them and gradually lure them toward that slope."

He used a branch beside him to draw a miniature map of the surroundings and pointed toward a hillside near the valley.

"If there are only Rank Three Gu Masters, we can kill them on the spot or capture them. But if there is a Rank Four Gu Master, that will be extremely troublesome… We will have to fight him together for there to be a chance of killing him. Jun Yun and Wu Ji will engage him directly, while you block his escape routes."

This was a solid plan, but there was one point Fang Tian had overlooked.

"What if there are two Rank Four Gu Masters? Or one Rank Four Gu Master along with a large number of Rank Three Gu Masters?… As you can see, if it is the former, we will undoubtedly die. If it is the latter, we might have a chance if we take down the Rank Four Gu Master immediately, but the Rank Three Gu Masters will be extremely troublesome."

This was a valid concern. If there were two Rank Four Gu Masters, they would most likely die. Perhaps they could attempt to flee and suffer heavy losses in their ranks.

"Perhaps we will only die if there are two Rank Four Gu Masters?… I mean, this entire plan involves a huge gamble, with no guarantee of returns."

This time, Ying Yue spoke. She had opposed the plan from the beginning. Although she possessed Rank Three upper-stage cultivation, she did not openly oppose them and still went along with the plan. One could say she was a reliable companion, but when danger arose, she evaluated the situation seriously.

Fang Tian was tired of the complaints and looked at the group, wanting to motivate them, but Jun Yun took over instead:

"Ying Yue, I know this plan is crazy and dangerous, but since when does wealth come without risk?… Risks and rewards are always proportional. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. Think about all the resources you will obtain after we plunder this resource point—your breakthrough to Rank Four will be guaranteed!"

As the saying goes, birds die for food, and Men die for wealth. This was a classic example in real life.

This time, the group unanimously agreed on the plan: Fang Tian and Jun Yun would attack first, break the Gu formation with a powerful strike, and then lure the enemies inside toward their ambush.

Fang Tian had no objections. He possessed a killer move that allowed him to obtain strength at the peak of Rank Three, or even slightly surpass it.

He was confident that he could hold off multiple Rank Three Gu Masters for some time even if he fought alone—but not for long.

Jun Yun and Fang Tian advanced side by side, leaving five meters between them. The area they were in was barren of trees, with only rocks from whose cracks stubborn grasses grew, refusing to submit to the harsh environment.

Ahead of them was the entrance to the valley. Fang Tian and Jun Yun did not hesitate and immediately unleashed their strongest attacks.

"Killer Move—Twisting Vine Manifestation!"

Fang Tian transformed into a gigantic treant. Hundreds of thick vines burst forth from every part of his body, forming arms and legs. Other vines lashed out like monstrous tentacles, shattering strange rocks into small fragments.

Behind him, Jun Yun took a deep breath, and in an instant, five fiery tornadoes shot out from his position, each rivaling Fang Tian's transformed form in height.

Fang Tian leaped heavily forward, covering dozens of feet, and then sent a savage punch through the air. His arm collided with an invisible barrier, tearing at space like a solid mass.

In another part of the barrier, space was scorched by the fiery tornadoes, revealing another scene.

A portion of the Gu formation shattered, exposing a breach. The concealed resource point was laid bare before prying eyes. Inside the resource point, dozens of natural tunnels were carved into the walls of the valley, burrowing deep into the earth. Several spots within the tunnels glimmered with metallic luster, causing greed to flash in Fang Tian's brown eyes.

"You demonic bastard! You dare attack my Yang Clan?!"

A Gu Master rushed out at high speed, lightning exploding from all over his body, causing Fang Tian to frown.

"Thunder Wave Gu!"

The man unleashed dozens of lightning threads from his arms. They streaked rapidly toward Fang Tian and nearly struck him. However, Fang Tian had prepared in advance, activating Palm Canopy Gu to block the lightning threads.

"These lightning threads are extremely harmful to my current form. I must kill this man!"

Fang Tian tore through the remnants of the formation and charged straight toward the Yang Clan Gu Master.

"Mad bastard, taste my Lightning Spear Gu!"

The Yang Clan Gu Master did not retreat when Fang Tian charged at him. Instead, he condensed a spear of lightning in his hand and hurled it at Fang Tian. A shockwave erupted, and the defense of Palm Canopy Gu trembled slightly, but Fang Tian did not slow down.

The Gu Master screamed madly, condensing even more lightning spears and launching them toward Fang Tian, but it was already too late. Dozens of thick vine limbs lashed out at the lightning spears, charring black as they intercepted the attacks, granting Fang Tian the opening he needed.

A Willow Arrow shot toward the unsuspecting Gu Master, and its monstrous force shattered the Gu Master's head with ease. However, more Yang Clan Gu Masters arrived.

"You demon! You killed Eider Brother Feng, I'll kill you!"

"Kill these demonic bastards!"

More than ten Rank Three Gu Masters charged toward Fang Tian and Jun Yun, who had already slain their opponents and were about to retreat.
