Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Lingering Shadows.

The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, painting soft patterns across the house. The street outside was quiet, but Celine could still feel the echoes of last night's encounter with Damien. Even though he had retreated into the shadows, the memory of his cruel words lingered in her mind.

Adrian stood near the window, arms crossed, his golden eyes scanning the street below as if he could see every shadow, every movement. Shadow lay at his feet, alert, ears twitching at the slightest noise.

Celine pressed a hand over her belly, her thoughts swirling. How did he know? she wondered. How did Damien sense… She shivered involuntarily. Fear and anxiety coiled deep within her.

"Adrian…" she said softly, her voice trembling. She stepped closer, glancing up at him. "How did he…? How did Damien know?"

Adrian turned slowly, eyes softening when they met hers, but a shadow of anger and caution lingered in his gaze. "He's a werewolf", "He has senses," Adrian said quietly, voice low but steady. "He's dangerous, and he can detect life… things he should never see. That's his power, and it's one of the reasons I've always warned you about him."

Celine swallowed hard, pressing her hands to her stomach. "I'm… scared," she admitted, voice almost a whisper. "What if he… what if he tries to hurt… the baby?"

Adrian's jaw tightened, a low growl vibrating in his chest. He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her, protective and magnetic. "Listen to me," he said firmly, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "No one will harm you. No one will harm our child. I promise you that."

Her eyes filled with worry. "But… last night… he said he could… I don't know…" Her voice faltered. "I feel like… I feel like he could come back. And if he does… I don't know if we can stop him."

Adrian cupped her face in his hands, golden eyes blazing with intensity and wild energy. "Celine, you don't need to worry about that. I will protect you both. Damien thinks he can threaten us, but he doesn't understand what I am capable of. He will never… I will never let him touch you. I swear."

Celine pressed her forehead against his chest, feeling the steady thrum of his heart, the controlled power beneath. "I just… I'm scared," she whispered. "What if I can't do this? What if something happens…"

Adrian held her tighter, almost growling low in his chest, protective energy radiating from every inch of him. "You will never be alone. I am with you. Always. Whatever comes, we face it together. Damien… or anyone… won't get near you. I will fight for you. For us. For our child."

Celine let out a shaky breath, tears pricking her eyes, but she felt some of her fear ease in the warmth of his embrace. "I trust you," she whispered. "Even if I'm scared, I trust you."

Adrian pressed a kiss to the top of her head, golden eyes scanning the street one last time. "Good. That's all that matters. We survive. Together. And I will protect you. Always."

The shadows outside had receded for now, but the lingering fear reminded them that danger was never far. Yet in that quiet, intimate moment, Celine felt the strength of Adrian's promise—and the unshakable truth that, with him, she was never truly alone.
