Chapter 28 - Shadows of the New Age

Peace rarely lasts. Even gods knew that.

Weeks had passed since The Convergence, the merging of worlds. Cities rebuilt faster than anyone believed possible. The new Omega Earth thrived under cooperation — Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises working side by side, Wakandan vibranium reinforcing Themysciran architecture, and S.H.I.E.L.D. operating jointly with the Justice League under one unified banner: The Guardians Initiative.

To the world, it was utopia. But utopias are fragile things.

It started small. Unnoticed. A pulse beneath the quantum fields — faint distortions that even Tony's scanners dismissed as background radiation.Until one night, beneath the rebuilt Sanctum Nexus, Doctor Fate froze mid-meditation. His eyes flared gold, then black. The candle flames bent backward.A whisper crept through the silence.

"You thought the balance restored. But balance demands shadow."

The candles died.

Across the planet, anomalies spread — people dreaming of two skies, seeing two shadows behind their own. A tremor rippled through the fabric of Omega Earth, subtle but growing.

In the Watchtower, Superman and Batman stood over a holographic map pulsing with unstable energy readings."Every city," Bruce said quietly, "same pattern. Vibrations in the same quantum frequency Strange used to seal the rift."Superman frowned. "You think it's undoing?"Bruce's eyes narrowed. "No. I think someone's rewriting it."

Meanwhile, in New Asgard, Thor watched lightning behave unnaturally — bolts striking in reverse, energy flowing upward. "By the storms," he muttered, "something's feeding from the sky itself."

At Mount Olympus, Wonder Woman met with Zatanna and Raven, who both sensed the same truth."It's not magic," Zatanna whispered. "It's memory."Raven's eyes darkened. "Something remembers what was lost."

And far beneath Omega Earth's crust, in a forgotten void between dimensions, a figure stirred — wrapped in broken light, surrounded by fragments of shattered Infinity Stones and dying Omega energy.

A hand moved.A voice followed — low, distant, and all too familiar.

"Strange thought he could seal me away…But even gods cast shadows."

The void pulsed once — like a heartbeat. And somewhere in the skies of Omega Earth, Doctor Fate's helmet cracked.

The New Age had begun. And its first dawn already carried darkness.
