Chapter 21 - Joint practical class

Elara raised his hand, the smooth slender fingers of his then snapped. From the shelves behind him, among the various rolled parchments. A single black one wriggled, coming alive as it jumped out and flew right into his hand.

"Here it is. It's the Lebend map." He passed it to Grey with a smile.

Grey accepted the map with shaky hands, trying to calm himself down as much as he could. He then activated his eyes of revelation.

[Lebend Map of Polo (Heaven) (Fragment)

An alive map that updates the information in real time. A subsidiary piece of the original parchment. This map is connected with all the other existing Lebend map parts. You can input your finding in it, and it will be updated in all the other ones and vice-versa. Showcases your current location and gives a detailed information of the distance, direction and names of places and dungeons.]

Grey stared at the description of the map in the blue system window. The corners of his lips twitched, trying to lift themselves up for a wide grin, but he forced his lips to stay down. He couldn't show his excitement in front of Elara after all that drama.

"Hehehehe!! I've got it finally. Dungeon steamrolling is on baby."

The whole of the class C was walking through the hallway, moving towards training arena A4, where the S class had their practical classes. They were all lead by Thorgar at the front, while Grey and Aeron were with the others behind.

"Why are we having a joint practical class with the other classes?" Aeron asked, annoyed as well as nervous.

"I don't know." Grey said nonchalantly.

"You keep training with him all the time. he should have told you." Aeron charged at Grey, unable to contain his curiosity.

"Do you think I'm his girlfriend or what? Why the hell would he tell me everything!" Grey was annoyed by his pestering now.

Just then Thorgar stopped abruptly and turned around, facing the students.

"Don't act like a wuss after entering inside. Move with your heads held up high. You all are no less than the others. You're all proud students of the C class. Understood!?" Thorgar hollered.

"Yes sir!" they all yelled out collectively.

"Alright. Follow me inside."

Thorgar moved in through the huge arched door followed by the students as they entered, passing through a narrow corridor, opening to the wide indoor training arena.

There was a huge raised, circular platform straight from the entrance at one side, and to the both sides of the entrance behind, were steps moving up to the rows of seats.

All the classes from S to B were already present. The S class had occupied the seats at the center, and towards their left and right were class B and A, leaving just a few seats for them at the furthest left corner.

Thorgar's face fell seeing such blatant insult, but he kept himself calm and nodded over his shoulders asking them to take the seats.

All of them quietly moved to the empty seats. No matter how much they tried, they couldn't move lifting their heads up, inferiority and lack of confidence made them unable to lift their eyes up from the floor.

Grey was unbothered by the insulting chuckles and jeers. He moved scanning everyone seated, with his head held up high.

Just then his eyes fell on Elena, waving at him zealously. Grey nodded and waved back with a smile, while moving towards the seats.

Black lines appeared on Carson's face, seeing Elena and Grey acting all friendly. He was the one who had beaten Grey on the first day of the academy. Intense dragon pressure suffocated the ones sitting beside him, fear gripped them as beads of sweats formed on their forehead.

Thorgar nodded at the representative professors of the other classes upon arriving near them, replying at their nods.

After all of them settled down. The representative professor of the S class moved upon the stage. He lifted his hand up and curled his fingers into a fist. Immediately the murmurs stopped. Silence spread in the arena.

He had a humongous build, more than seven feet in height. Well build, buffed muscles, long braided black hair, two tusks jutting out of his lower jaw and green skin, typical to that of the orcs. Standing tall on the platform in a long red coat.

He was a proud warrior of the orc tribe and one of the elders of the academy council, Zarnak Skullsplitter.

"I welcome everyone from the first-year warrior classes, in this first joint practical class." his deep raspy voice spread to every corner of the arena.

"I'd like to thank our brilliant representative professors for agreeing to this joint venture." He nodded at the three of them below with a smile, as they nodded back in appreciation.

"You all must be curious as to why this need for joint practical came up."

"Well, let me clear it up then. Three months from now, your midterms will begin. You all may already know, during the midterms, one student from each class, and a student from the mage department will form a team to complete a mission, serving as the test for the very midterm."

There was not a single student that showed surprise, since it was common knowledge for everyone. Well, not everyone, as Grey stood shocked on his seat, looking here and there around himself to see flashes of surprise on the students.

But as Zarnak said, they all knew already, making Grey the only odd one.

"The aim of this session today is to make all of you know each other and get familiar. Since you may have to work as a team in the future."

Murmurs started among the students instantly. Though most of them being excited about forming teams, a majority of them scoffing at the C class, who on the other hand were traumatized with the news, realizing the mockery and bullying they were about to go through.

"And what better way of familiarizing between warriors then friendly duels." Zarnak said with a wide smile.

Thorgar was smiling ear to ear, quite ecstatic with this, being a battle freak, both he and Zarnak knew only one language of making friends, fighting.

The faces of the students from the C class went pale. Majority of them were in the C class because, this is where they were the worst, fighting. Fear gripped their minds. They knew they'd lose for sure, but the hope they grasped on to was for the humiliation to be as minimum as possible.

"You are not to give your all, just have a light spar. To show this, Elena and Carson will demonstrate to all of you, with a duel."

Just as he announced, Elena and Carson stood up from their seats. They walked down and moved up on the platform, standing at the opposite ends, taking their stance, since they were already aware and sat ready from a long time.

Zarnak moved below the platform and roared at the two of them. "Begin!!"
