Chapter 7 - Chapitre 7: Family

New York, Manhattan.

"Sir, you're back." The nanny respectfully took the handbag and greeted him. Seeing the man's gloomy face, she walked cautiously into the kitchen and whispered to a tall, elegant, and beautiful mixed-race woman with distinct Chinese features, "Madam, the man looks very unhappy and seems to be in a bad mood."

"Huh? What happened again?" Li Wanqing put down the kitchen knife in her hand and washed her hands. There was a gleam of doubt in her beautiful eyes. She frowned slightly and walked into the living room, just in time to see her husband with a gloomy face and a cigarette in his hand.

"What's going on? Didn't we agree not to bring work emotions home?"

"What's wrong? What else could it be? It's all because of your precious son!" Auston Smith snuffed out the cigarette in his hand unhappily and flicked his hand through the smoke a few times. He knew his wife hated the smell of cigarettes.

"Andy? What happened to Andy? I just called him and he's fine!" Li Wanqing watched the smoke dissipate, bent down unhappily to pick up the ashtray on the table, and prepared to put it on the balcony. When she heard that her husband was angry because of their son, she asked in confusion.

"Humph, of course he won't tell you that he mortgaged his villa and copyrights to borrow 6 million from the bank and invested it all in the stock market! This brat is really too bold." Auston snorted coldly. Seeing his wife's face turn pale, he hurried forward to help her sit on the sofa.

"What? This...this...how could this kid do this! How could he know anything about stocks? No, I need to call and find out!" After saying that, he picked up the phone from the table next to him and pressed the speed dial button 1.

As soon as the call was connected, Li Wanqing said anxiously, "Son, how could you mortgage your property and buy stocks? What's going on?"

When Andy received the call, he saw that it was his mother's call. He immediately realized that his parents already knew about the situation on his side. He explained helplessly: "Mom, don't worry, listen to me and explain it to you slowly..."

An hour later, after hanging up the phone, Andy collapsed helplessly on the sofa. It was really troublesome. Fortunately, this was the United States. He was an adult and could freely dispose of his own property. Even his parents had no choice but to accept his decision, even if they would be unhappy.

If this happened in China, his legs would have been broken!

Li Wanqing put down the phone and rubbed her hands back and forth nervously. This was more than 8 million US dollars. Even though their family was very wealthy, they could not accept the risk of losing such a large sum of money.

"Humph, I told you long ago not to let him go to Los Angeles. Now look what happened. He's completely on his own. Back then, I wanted him to apply to NYU, but you insisted on letting him apply to USC. And now, he's even taken a leave of absence from USC and never even went. He just hangs out all day. Look at what those tabloids are reporting. He's bringing shame to the Smith family!"

Auston paced back and forth in the living room angrily, muttering incessantly, his voice getting louder and louder.

"Bang!"

"Okay! Are you done yet?" Li Wanqing, who had slowly calmed down from her panic, heard her husband's complaints and accusations. Her eyebrows raised, she slapped her hands on the coffee table, and let out a soft hum.

Auston was like a duck with its neck strangled. His face flushed red and the words on the tip of his tongue were forcibly choked back. A small tuft of his meticulously crafted hair fluttered in front of his forehead. He stood awkwardly in the living room, looking at his wife cautiously.

Seeing her husband's expression, she couldn't help but burst out laughing and rolled her eyes at him in annoyance. "Actually, there's nothing to worry about. I just thought about my son's analysis, and it does make sense. It's not like you haven't met Steve Jobs before. Although he might be a bit annoying, he's indeed a genius. It makes sense for my son to be optimistic about Apple's stock!"

"Huh, what does he know?" After seeing his tigress smiling like a flower,

His uneasy heart calmed down, he rolled his eyes, sat down next to his wife, and snorted cautiously.

Li Wanqing raised her hand and patted her husband in annoyance, stood up from the sofa, and said as she walked towards the restaurant.

"You're so good. Okay, there's no point in saying this now. He's grown up now, and it's normal for him to have his own ideas. Besides, what if his analysis is correct? Even if the stock price drops in the end, can't we still make a long-term investment? Enough talk, let's go eat..."

At night, after taking a bath, Andy lay on the sofa in the movie room in his pajamas, yawning and watching the 007 movie playing on the screen. He still felt that everything in his current life seemed like a dream, so unreal, with fanaticism in his confusion.

He turned off the projector, took out a wine glass from the wine cabinet, and poured himself a full glass of ice wine. What about the wine tasting culture? Now Andy just wanted that refreshing feeling that would make him feel real.

Morning, piano room.

The morning sun shines on the white grand piano, creating a faint glow that makes people feel warm.

The beautiful melody of "Für Elise" filled the room. After it was completely integrated, Andy had completely accepted everything about the two of them. Playing the piano also came naturally.

After playing a song, Andy licked his dry lips, closed the piano cover, walked into the kitchen, picked up the sandwich he had prepared and started eating it, drank a large glass of milk, cleaned the table a little, moved his hands and feet a few times, looked at the clean, bright and luxurious house, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up slightly. He liked his current affluent life very much.

I wonder if the fat guy has found a nanny and a fitness trainer! Walking into the gym, looking at the rich fitness equipment, Andy was a little confused. He could only start with a simple treadmill. Without a professional trainer, if Andy, who is in a recovery period, used the equipment indiscriminately, he might hurt himself.

After running and taking a shower, Andy lay lazily on the sofa and couldn't help laughing. This morning shower was caused by Andy's obsession with showering. As Chinese people, they have no habit of showering in the morning. This is also one of the strange habits of Chinese people that Americans cannot understand. For example, they take off their shoes when entering the house, don't drink ice water, and only wash their feet instead of taking a shower at night.

Now as an American, Andy is also changing little by little. He doesn't want to be regarded as a freak by others. He can have personality, but he cannot be different, otherwise he will be out of the mainstream.

Don't underestimate these habits. If you want to integrate into a new environment, you must start by respecting the new culture and integrating into mainstream society. Being unconventional is an idiotic behavior that will only make people feel disgusted and rejected.

Andy checked the time and saw that the stock market was about to open. He made a cup of coffee, went into the study and turned on the computer.

"$50.6, and still falling! Well, whatever, I'll buy it at this price!"

Andy saw that Apple's stock price was still falling slightly. After a moment's pause, he started placing a buy order. Anyway, he didn't know how to read any lines, as long as he knew that it would rise.

Of course, Andy wasn't stupid enough to put all eight million dollars on the line. He would just buy out the lowest-priced sell orders bit by bit. The keyboard clattered, his hands were incredibly fast, not stopping for a moment. Eight million dollars went down without a ripple, but it did tire him out.

"Okay, I just have to wait patiently until next year to sell it!" He looked at the stock account interface again, muttered to himself a little excitedly, then closed the webpage, and a feeling of relief came over him.

Now I just need to focus on writing novels, then publish them and make money to buy them back. I lit a cigarette, took a sip of coffee, opened the novel document, looked at what I wrote last time, closed my eyes and thought for a while, then continued to write.

In two days, the first story, "Maleficent," will be finished, and the second will be "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "The Huntsman: Winter's War." Once these two stories are finished, they should be ready for publication as the first volume of "Dark Fairy Tales." I'm not sure how the market will respond; it all depends on the publisher's promotional efforts.

Andy sneered inwardly. The publishing house he signed a contract with was very dissatisfied with the fact that he had not published any works for such a long time. Their client representative was even more sarcastic and mocking to his agent. Just wait, it was just a contract for one book. When the first volume sold well, he would settle the accounts with them.

If you don't care, you might really think he is easy to bully. As a technical geek, Andy from China naturally has no enemies, but he and Andy from the United States have one thing in common: they are both a little petty. Although they are not vindictive, if they have the opportunity and ability to retaliate against those who make them unhappy, they don't mind stepping forward and giving them a few kicks.
