Chapter 30 - Chapter 30. Dark Magician Support Combo Cards! The Value of Dark Magical Circle!

Chapter 30. Dark Magician Support Combo Cards! The Value of Dark Magical Circle!

Seto Kaiba drew in a sharp breath.

Looking at this mutual-protection first-turn board from Dark Magician, once it's formed, he honestly didn't even know how to crack it.

Against this kind of board, the only method he could think of was battle.

That's right.

Fusion Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

Rely on its overwhelming 4500 ATK and just battle through to take down Dark Magician the Dragon Knight.

Only that way can you scrape out a sliver of hope.

"Partner! You saw that, right! I told you!"

"Dark Magician isn't weak!"

"Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, Eternal Soul!"

"All of this proves it!"

"A most loyal servant will never have a bad end!"

"..."

Pharaoh Atem within Yugi Muto spoke one excited line after another.

As he marveled, the Pharaoh grew even more fired up.

This is Dark Magician — the power of the one who commands dark magic.

"The other me, as things stand, Dark Magician will only be strong, not weak."

"But don't forget — over in Sei Yuki's world, Dark Magician is only the tip of the iceberg."

"However strong, it's just a flash in the pan, right?"

"..."

Keeping a pessimistic mindset, Yugi Muto did not believe that a Dark Magician at this level of strength could make waves.

Mainly, relying on a 3000-ATK monster to fight is too lacking.

What's more, forget everything else.

Remember that HERO 'Farmer's Three Punches' build from earlier?

Do they care what protection you've got?

One punch to blow you up and it's done.

One punch not enough?

Then a second punch.

Still not enough — surely the third punch ends it?

With that thinking, Yugi wasn't optimistic.

And after listening, Atem gradually calmed down as well.

Indeed.

Only the tip of the iceberg?

...

GX world.

The students who had always admired the Duel King Yugi Muto's deck, upon seeing such a powerful mutual-protection first-turn board, were even more excited and hyped than Yugi and the Pharaoh.

"Woo-hoo! The Duel King's deck is strong just like I said! It wasn't going to be that simple!"

"Damn, this is nasty! With protection like this, it's really hard to crack!"

"That said, it's not impossible to crack — just use non-targeting destruction on Eternal Soul!"

"Right, there are basically two entry points — one is to battle through Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, but that only treats the symptoms, not the root; the other is to destroy Eternal Soul — that's the best entry point."

"..."

Jaden Yuki and Jesse Anderson took in the voices around them.

The two were also thinking: if they were up against this mutual-protection board, how would their own decks break through?

...

Meanwhile, in the short video, the content creator's narration began.

30-Year-Old Dark Magician: "A mutual-protection board like this is indeed very strong."

30-Year-Old Dark Magician: "But the drawbacks are there all the same, so if you want to get the absolute most out of this mutual-protection setup, you still have to rely on the following cards!"

30-Year-Old Dark Magician: "First is the in-archetype must-have — Dark Magical Circle!"

"As a Continuous Spell, its first effect looks at the top three cards of your Deck to search a card that lists the Dark Magician archetype."

"The key is the second effect — so long as we Summon Dark Magician, we can banish an opponent's card."

"It functions as a de facto interruption on the opponent's turn."

"This card provides a degree of protection for Dark Magician the Dragon Knight."

"As for how to Summon Dark Magician on the opponent's turn — Eternal Soul gives you the answer, so don't be afraid of not getting Dark Magical Circle's second effect to resolve!"

"..."

The creator spoke unhurriedly about Dark Magical Circle's role.

As one of the support combo pieces, it really can bring solid disruption.

It also made quite a few duelists tense up inside.

This Dark Magician!

Its other Spells/Traps really aren't simple!

Just this Dark Magical Circle alone is enough to make them feel their hearts pounding.

A banish that acts as an interruption — and it isn't destruction.

30-Year-Old Dark Magician: "Of course, going first, if you're holding not only Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Maxx 'C'…"

30-Year-Old Dark Magician: "If you can also naturally draw Magician's Right Hand, that's nice too."

"No matter what, while you control a Spellcaster monster, that card can, once per turn, negate the effect of a Spell your opponent activates and destroy it."

"As for other cards like Dark Ruler No More, Called by the Grave, and [XX Exclusion], it all depends on what your opener looks like."

After he finished speaking, the card info that had appeared in the video gradually faded out.

As for Called by the Grave and Dark Ruler No More, they're obviously not part of the Dark Magician in-archetype build.

But they were still included.

Which goes to show the value of those two cards goes without saying.

Even if the old-guard duelists didn't understand what those two cards did, or why they were necessary tech, they were very clear on this much.

Right now, with these cards supporting the Dark Magician combo, paired with the mutual-protection setup, Dark Magician's strength is already quite substantial.

Not to mention, Fusion, Ritual, Xyz, Synchro, and Link are still powerful areas yet to be touched.
