Chapter 159. The Ultra-Meta Spright "Satellite Sprite" Engine Exposed! Glory to the Level 2 Axis!
The Duel had already ended.
But the excitement and shock it brought made every Duel World tremble again and again!
What on earth is this?
Is this really a Duel?!
Are you sure this is Synchro Summoning!
Five powerful Synchro Monsters, plus the final Shooting Star Dragon!
It felt like everything had already been fully calculated!
How many times Shooting Quasar Dragon can attack had already been written and fixed in the equation of victory!
No!
You call this… a Duel!?
In the group chat, messages exploded!
Yugi Muto: "Th-This is the final calculation? This guy's luck is even more ridiculous than my topdecks!"
Jaden Yuki: "Whoa! So this is the charm of Synchro going crazy-accelerated in a Riding Duel? I wanna ride a bike too!"
Crow Hogan: "That's a D-Wheel, not a bike! And this is the bond of us Signers! It's bonds!"
Yusaku Fujiki: "Signers? What exactly do you mean?"
After Crow Hogan's round of explanation, Duelists in every Duel World broke down and went numb once again!
These Dragons turned out to be the ace Dragon monsters of the 5D's main cast!
And Stardust Dragon had already withstood that final destruction earlier, bringing hope!
Stardust Dragon is hope!
Yes!
All of this—bonds and hope—came naturally!
From Stardust Dragon onward, it was already destined!
5D's World.
On hearing the shouts of his comrades back then, even Yusei Fudo himself would have thought the Duelist in that short video was the real Yusei Fudo!
Or rather, that's another me from a parallel world!
Leo: "Yusei, did you see it? He won! The other you won!"
Luna: "The final hope! The bonds among us Signers shown there, Yusei, you were the same back then!"
Crow Hogan: "Hahaha! Who says otherwise! My Black-Winged Dragon was the key Level count in the end!"
Kalin Kessler: "Five Dragons gathering to surpass a heart like a clear mirror beyond still waters? Interesting Duel."
"..."
Yusei Fudo still seemed absent-minded and hadn't come back to his senses.
So the voices around him felt hazy and unheard.
Another me?
In this world, does another me truly exist?
No, it's a parallel world!
After a long while.
From the initial hostility toward each other.
To finally being soul-numbed by Shooting Quasar Dragon!
Even Sei Yuki of the main world couldn't help feeling emotional after watching.
So this is that last Quasar?
If someone thinks Synchro is a misstep, then Sei Yuki has to argue it out properly!
Synchro Summoning has always been the most brilliant summoning method K-snake ever made!
The later Xyz and Link are comparatively simpler to grasp and calculate.
But Synchro Summoning can create impossible Level stacking right there on the Duel board!
This is the charm of Synchro!
This is the bond between Synchro Decks and Synchro Decks!
This is Synchro surpassing light-speed with a heart like a clear mirror beyond still waters!
"I can only say, it still has to be Synchro!"
"If it were anything else, you really wouldn't get that soul-exploding feeling!"
"Then next!"
"Let's start the breakdown of another ultra-meta Deck."
Sei Yuki exhaled a long breath.
He quickly began searching for the ultra-meta Deck that once dominated the pie chart alongside Tearlaments!
Spright.
Or you could also call it the Spright Deck.
After a round of searching, the video content was soon selected.
And the title appeared across every Duel World.
"Ultra-Meta Spright! The Eternal King of Level 2 Cards!"
As for the Spright Deck, Duelists in every world can't exactly call it unfamiliar.
After all, it debuted in the same period as Tearlaments.
In the earlier Tearlaments development history, Spright's silhouette had already been mentioned a bit.
So upon seeing another ultra-meta engine appear, the Duel boomers quickly perked up to twelve out of ten.
They waited for the short video to officially begin.
Inside the short video, the content creator—Spright player—quickly began the Deck-system explanation.
Spright Player: "Alright, good evening to all Duelist cardheads."
Spright Player: "Today I'm bringing you a development-history breakdown of the Spright Deck!"
Spright Player: "Perhaps everyone only remembers Tearlaments, but has forgotten the Spright Deck that once dominated the meta as an ultra-meta presence!"
Spright Player: "But I think there's a line you must've heard!"
Spright Player: "Tearlaments opened the Yu-Gi-Oh! 2.0 era."
Spright Player: "Then Spright was the pinnacle of Yu-Gi-Oh! 1.0!"
Spright Player: "No—call it the summit!"
Spright Player: "In April 2022, a single Deck's effects were revealed and once again blew up the Yu-Gi-Oh! scene."
Spright Player: "That Deck is precisely our theme today, Spright."
Spright Player: "All cardheads, please rise!"
Spright Player: "We're diving right into today's topic!"
Spright Player: "Before we get into the development history of Spright, we first have to understand what cards exist in the Spright system!"
Spright Player: "First, all Spright mains are Level 2-based!"
Spright Player: "The core is also a Level 2 axis!"
Spright Player: "The archetype has both Xyz and Link, and both are deck-warping levels of power!"
Spright Player: "I think you all know which two I mean, right?"
Do we even need to say it!
Two deck-warping Link-2 monsters!
One is Spright Elf!
The other is Spright Sprind!
The roles of these two cards, Duelists in every world can still recall vividly!
These two aren't only powerhouses in the Spright system!
Even in Tearlaments, they were accomplice cards!
But for the boomers, they can tell these few cards are strong, and they can see the combos and the ceiling.
Yet as for Spright itself—what is the system actually like?
They were still confused and at a loss.
And in the short video, Spright-related card info soon appeared.
Spright Player: "Next let's start by recognizing single cards!"
Spright Player: "Only by recognizing them will you understand why this Level 2 axis is terrifying."
Spright Player: "First, Spright's non-Extra Deck monsters each have two parts: a trait and an effect!"
Spright Player: "Trait 1: If you control a Level/Rank 2 monster, this card can Special Summon itself from your hand."
Spright Player: "Trait 2: The Special Summon by Trait is once per turn, and each card's 'Effect 2' is a hard once per turn."
Spright Player: "Knowing the traits, let's look at each card's 'Effect 2' one by one!"
Spright Player: "Start with monsters."
Card #1! Spright Blue!
DARK / Thunder.
Level 2, 1100/1000.
Effect 2: If this card is Special Summoned: Add 1 "Spright" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Spright Blue."
Card #2! Spright Jet!
DARK / Thunder.
Level 2, 1300/700.
Effect 2: If this card is Special Summoned: Add 1 "Spright" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand.
Card #3! Spright Pixies!
DARK / Thunder.
Level 2, 1400/1400.
Effect 2 (Quick Effect): During damage calculation, if another Level/Rank/Link 2 monster you control battles an opponent's monster: Send this card from your hand or field to the Graveyard; that monster you control gains ATK/DEF equal to that opponent's monster's ATK until the end of this turn.
Card #4! Spright Red!
FIRE / Thunder.
Level 2, 1200/1800.
Effect 2 (Quick Effect): When your opponent activates a monster effect: Tribute 1 other Level/Rank/Link 2 monster; negate that effect, then if you Tributed a Rank/Link 2 to activate, you can destroy that monster.
Card #5! Spright Carrot!
FIRE / Thunder.
Level 2, 1000/1900.
Effect 2 (Quick Effect): When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or effect: Tribute 1 other Level/Rank/Link 2 monster; negate that effect, then if you Tributed a Rank/Link 2 to activate, you can destroy that card.
That's it! Right!
That's all!
After seeing these cards, quite a few boomers were stunned, baffled, even lost!
This?
Just five non-Extra Deck monsters?
Huh?
That few?
A 40-card Deck!
Even if you max them, that's only 15 main-axis monsters, right?
What's more, in the Spright system it's obviously impossible to max all of them at 3 copies!
Which means you only use the most important few!
But the traits, at least, the boomers understood!
This system is absurd!
Each monster can Special Summon itself as long as there's a Level 2 on the field!
The archetype has a monster searcher and a Spell/Trap searcher!
It even has a monster negate and a Spell/Trap negate!
Just these low-Level monsters are already this absurd!
No wonder it could become an ultra-meta presence!
Spright Player: "Alright, after seeing these Spright monsters, I think you all understand each card's role in the build."
Spright Player: "In fact, no matter which Spright main-axis you run—or which sub-engine of Spright—the mandatory monsters are 3 Spright Blue and 3 Spright Jet."
Spright Player: "Then Spright Red and Spright Carrot at 1–2 copies each."
Spright Player: "As for Spright Pixies, it's 0–1."
Spright Player: "Knowing what to include, let's look at the key Extra Deck Xyz monster!"
Spright Player: "Gigantic Spright!"
"DARK / Thunder."
"Rank 2, stats 1600/1600."
"Materials: 2 Level 2 monsters."
"For its Xyz Summon, you can treat a Link-2 you control as a Level 2 monster for material."
"Effect 1: If this card has a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and/or Link Monster as material, its original ATK becomes doubled."
"Effect 2: During your Main Phase: Detach 1 material; Special Summon 1 Level 2 monster from your Deck, also neither player can Special Summon for the rest of this turn, except Level/Rank/Link 2 monsters."
"This second effect is nasty!"
"Did you notice?"
"It restricts both players."
"Even though it's not Quick-Play, on your own turn it can still hedge against a 'meteor' (Nibiru)."
"This strength—full escort!"
Indeed!
The power of Gigantic Spright seems a bit over the line!
The previous Halq could fetch any Level 3 or lower Tuner!
This one, though, can fetch any Level 2 monster!
And even Special Summon it!
Thinking of that, Duelists in all worlds gasped!
DM World.
Yugi Muto stared blankly at this Gigantic Spright before his eyes!
You don't know if you don't look.
You're startled when you do!
Isn't this search range too wide?
Level 2 monsters? How many Level 2 monsters are in the entire Duel Monsters card pool?
You don't even dare to imagine!
This card can route the entire Level 2 pool!
It's practically a deck-warping card!
VRAINS World.
After reading Gigantic Spright's effects, Yusaku Fujiki and the others couldn't sit still!
Not only is its fetch range ridiculously wide, it can even double its ATK!
As long as you used a monster of the required type as material, its ATK becomes 3200!
Meaning this archetype isn't short on damage at all!
Bringing out a 3200-ATK Gigantic Spright is absolutely not a problem!
That's what broke them most!
Spright Player: "Okay, after Gigantic Spright, next we move into the archetype Spells/Traps."
Spright Player: "There's a lot of interesting stuff with Gigantic Spright."
Spright Player: "We'll discuss more later."
Spright Player: "First look at what the normal Spright system usually plays in a standard build."
Card #1! Quick-Play Spell: Spright Starter!
You can only activate 1 per turn.
Effect: Special Summon 1 "Spright" monster from your Deck, but you lose LP equal to its original ATK; after it resolves, for the rest of this turn you can only Special Summon Level/Rank/Link 2.
Card #2! Quick-Play Spell: Spright Smashers!
You can only activate 1 per turn.
Effect: Banish 1 "Springans", "Therion", or "Spright" card from your hand or Graveyard, then apply 1 of these effects:
Special Summon 1 "Springans" monster from your Deck.
Special Summon 1 "Therion" monster from your Graveyard.
Banish 1 Level/Rank/Link 2 monster you control and 1 card your opponent controls.
Card #3! Quick-Play Spell: Spright Gamma Burst!
You can only use 1 of its effects per turn, and only once that turn.
Effect 1: All Level/Rank/Link 2 monsters on the field gain 1400 ATK/DEF until the end of this turn.
Effect 2: During your Main Phase, you can banish this card from your Graveyard; target 1 Level/Rank/Link 2 monster you control; it gains 1400 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn.
What the heck?
They're all Quick-Play Spells!
The Spright Spells are all Quick-Play!
And each card is very strong in its role!
Starter fetches and Summons!
Smashers is a utility tool!
Gamma Burst pumps ATK!
Duelists who originally thought this system lacked damage suddenly went dumbfounded!
A flat +1400 pump!
If paired with Gigantic Spright, then with damage there's nothing to fear!
What terrified them even more is that the Spright system only needs "Level 2" as the condition!
And if the archetype itself has a Spell that searches, that equals a not-low expansion rate!
Stability—extremely high!
