*In Yan Lau's dream*
Yan lou was taking a nap, he was lying on a tree in Mò Sēn Gu, the Forbidden Forest, which was off-limits to everyone, not by coercion but by choice
He felt a pebble hit him on his head, at first he ignored it, he already knew a human had entered the forest but decided to ignore, leaving faith to do it to work as the forest is known as where unrest souls resides and any human that enters the forest get their soul possessed by the spirit and gradually the spirits fully invade the person casting the person's soul into forever wondering the face of the earth. Some spirits who possessed people with shape shift into an entirely different person.
but then he felt another, so he finally looked down to see who had the audacity to step in to the Mò Sēn Gu forest and who also hit him with a pebble.
It was a girl.
He could tell she came from a well-off family, even when she didn't look it at that moment. Accla clothes were simple and a little dusty, as if she had been working in the garden for hours. A loose strand of hair clung to her cheek, and her sleeves were slightly wrinkled. Still, beneath the tired look, she carried that quiet refinement.
"Hey, You!" she shouted.
"Hmm," he mumbled to himself, before disappearing.
The tree being far off in the sky, thereby hindering Yue Ling to see clearly.She called out to him multiple times before she realized that he was no longer up in the tree. Startled, she looked around her environment frantically.
" Huh!!" the girl was left confused and startled.
Curious to know how he got up the tree and how he vanished without her noticing, she was bewieldered and intrigued. She continued to visit the forest regularly in hopes of finding the mysterious person she saw. Instead, she stumbled across many scattered skeletons across the forest.
Due to the stories told to her, she concluded that these bones must have been the soldiers who died during the era of Emperor Longwei, the former king of their land. The war between the two nations lasted a year claiming thousands of lives tho more of the soldiers than of civilians but the deaths that occurred in that forest was more of a mass murder; it was an ambush laid by the other nation through a spy in their midst, leading to the deaths of the soldiers.
Some of the family members of the dead soldiers who had visited the forest at that time suddenly went missing, and so with time, people stopped going there in fear of the spirits which awaits a vessel.
Yue Ling being a compassionate and kind girl took it upon herself to properly bury them. She decided to go to get a shovel and all the essentials she needed.
*Back at Yan lou Mansion*
"have you taken care of it?" Yan Lau asked in his usual cold demeanor.
"I have, my lord," Zhu Feng replied.
In that moment, Qianyan came in. He was the casted-off second prince from heaven. As a punishment, the king had him stripped of his title for the time being and to guard Mò Sēn Gu seeing that it was closer to the demon realm, he would drop by unannounced, which annoyed Zhu Feng who thinks the prince is up to no good.
Yan Lau simply closed his eyes while Zhu Feng answered for him.
"My lord is doing fine, and to what do we owe this pleasure?"
"Oh, nothing—just came to tell you that the mortal who threw rock pebbles at you is back at the forest again, and this time with a shovel." he said with an amused expression.
This got Yan Lau's attention; he had half-expected her to be dead now, with her body to be already possessed. He yearned for a little entertainment and so he disappears.
He reappears on top of a tree, lying flawlessly while watching her.
