Chapter 7: Uncle Flanders.
Afterward, Xuan Mo returned home with his parents.
Naturally, their son's awakening spirit and attaining ninth-level spirit power led to a lavish celebration. Even the "Tianranju" restaurant was closed for the entire day.
"Hahaha!" Xuan Mo's father, already drunk, burst into laughter. "Thank our ancestors! I never thought my son would actually become a spirit master!"
"Okay, don't be so happy just yet."
Xuan Mo's mother, sitting nearby, was delighted, but seeing her husband's behavior, she couldn't help but speak out.
"First, tell me, if our son doesn't go to the Spirit Hall now, which school should he go to?"
"Of course, the Barak Kingdom Junior Spirit Master Academy," Xuan Mo's father said without hesitation.
Xuan Mo was about to object. After all, he was planning to go to the Junior Spirit Master Academy in Notting City, so he could become familiar to the protagonist and potentially benefit from it.
But when he considered the distance between Notting City and Soto City, he gave up the idea.
His parents would never approve of such a long distance. Besides, it was just the Junior Spirit Master Academy anyway; the focus was on Shrek.
So, after some thought, Xuan Mo let his father decide...
The meal ended with his father getting drunk.
After his mother took him back to his room to rest, Xuan Mo followed suit.
Upon entering, he climbed onto the bed and sat cross-legged. In this relatively quiet environment, he relaxed his mind and body. He began meditating and practicing.
After all, according to his father, the Barak Kingdom Junior Spirit Master Academy would officially open in three months.
And he had a reason to reach level ten before the start of the semester.
Time was running out, so he had to hurry.
For the next two weeks, apart from his daily early morning training, he spent the rest of his time eating and practicing...
Two weeks later.
After obtaining his parents' approval, Xuan Mo arrived at a shop with a sign that resembled the Spirit Hall's token.
Seeing the door open, Xuan Mo walked right in.
Inside the shop, a single person sat on a wooden recliner, his eyes closed as the chair rocked with him.
The man, about fifty years old, had a face like a shoe sole and a hooked nose. Even with his eyes closed, he looked a bit cunning.
He wore a pair of black-rimmed crystal glasses, the frames a rigid square shape that gave him an eerie look.
Seeing this man, Xuan Mo immediately greeted him, "Uncle Flanders, long time no see."
Yes, it was Flanders, the four-eyed owl.
As for how they met, the story goes back two years.
One early morning two years ago, Xuan Mo was out exercising when Flanders stumbled upon him, and Flanders naturally took an interest in him.
Then, seeing Xuan Mo's persistence and admiring him, Flanders visited him several times.
Through these interactions, Xuan Mo and Flanders became acquainted. Initially, Xuan Mo was incredibly excited, and naturally, he clung to Flanders's thigh.
However, perhaps unsure of Xuan Mo's future talent, Flanders only told him he was a spirit master, but made no mention of Shrek Academy. He and Xuan Mo had a close relationship, acting as both elder and junior.
This was also a factor in Xuan Mo's decision not to join the Spirit Hall.
"Oh!" a slightly hoarse, surprised voice echoed. "Why are you in my shop?"
Flanders, who had been reclining on a recliner, slowly rose and looked at Xuan Mo with a quizzical look.
"You're a rare visitor, boy. You wouldn't come here for no reason. What brings you here?"
"I need help, Uncle Flanders,"
Xuan Mo said, but inwardly, he thought, "Looks like I'm going to be ripped off by that old bastard Flanders again."
As expected, at the mention of help, Flanders' greedy gaze faded. He then rubbed his fingers at Xuan Mo.
"Mo, even if we have a good relationship, you know that when you ask me to do something, it's a price, and you have to pay a deposit."
Xuan Mo knew Flender's character, but he still said helplessly, "Of course. How much is the deposit?"
"Not much."
Flender's eyes flashed with cunning, and he raised his hand to slap Xuan Mo.
"I never bargain in business. How about a deposit of fifty gold soul coins?"
"Okay!" Xuan Mo agreed directly, without hesitation.
He knew that the longer he delayed, the more ruthless the old man Flender would be.
So he pulled a bag of gold soul coins from his clothes and tossed it to Flender, without a trace of pain.
Instead, Flender felt like he had lost out. He muttered, "That's too low."
Then, with Xuan Mo's face scowled, he put the gold soul coins away.
"Mo boy, tell me what's going on?"
Xuan Mo didn't mince words, stating his purpose directly.
"I want Uncle Flender to help me hunt for spirit rings."
Flender, upon hearing Xuan Mo's request, didn't even think twice.
"You're such a fool! To hunt for spirit rings, you have to be a Spirit Master, at level ten. You..."
But before he could finish his sentence, Flender's eyes widened as he appeared before Xuan Mo.
"Wait, you said you wanted to hunt for spirit rings, and you have spirit power, and you've even reached level ten!"
"Uncle Flender, can't I have spirit power? Yes, I'm already at level ten."
Flender was overjoyed upon hearing this, and he pulled out a crystal ball and asked Xuan Mo to place his hand on it.
Xuan Mo complied, and in the next second, a dazzling blue light filled the crystal ball.
Seeing this, Flanders' eyes narrowed slightly. "You've indeed reached level ten. Mo, do you have your spirit certificate with you? Let me see it."
"Uncle Flanders, you actually didn't believe me just now,"
Xuan Mo grumbled as he took out his spirit awakening certificate and handed it to Flanders.
Flanders ignored Xuan Mo. After carefully examining the certificate, his eyes suddenly lit up.
He looked Xuan Mo up and down with a fiery gaze, giving him goosebumps.
After returning the certificate to Xuan Mo, he said, "Mo, after you possess your spirit, let me see it too."
Xuan Mo said nothing more, but instead took off his upper body clothing. Then...
"Taotie Divine Bull, possess!"
A powerful red and yellow light suddenly erupted from Xuan Mo's body. Immediately afterwards, two spiraling bull horns emerged from his head.
Xuan Mo's bones crackled, his muscles suddenly expanded, and his body grew by one-third.
Blood-red runes were imprinted across his muscles, and several yellow dragon scales appeared in various places.
Standing before Xuan Mo, Flanders instantly felt a fierce aura and a heavy force bearing down on him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Boy, your spirit is powerful. In my opinion and experience, the Taotie Divine Bull is comparable to the world's most powerful attacking beast spirit, the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex."
Xuan Mo remained noncommittal about Flanders' words.
However, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, clearly harboring something. However, at this moment, he chose not to speak it out.
