What is the basic requirement for a living being? Is it food? Sex? Familiar connections? Money? The question might be simple, yet it was a whole lot complex if we dig deeper.
The sun was glaring at all of us without any discrimination. For it, humans and vampires have the same value.
I took a bite out of the already melting chocolate. Now, it must be confusing that a vampire is eating a chocolate, isn't it? As much as weird it sounds like, but we, vampires can eat human food.
"You can eat our food?" asked Leonard.
I answered, "Yes, we can." I put the entire chocolate into my mouth and enjoyed it. I like chocolates. They taste good. But they would taste better with blood.
Swallowing, I looked at Nathan and asked, "You have prepared the map?"
Nathan nodded and handed me the map. Holding the map, I turned towards Leonard. "Where should we go now?" I asked.
Leonard gave me a weird look and replied, "It's your choice. I am certain that you are thinking of this world as some kind of playground. So, do whatever you like. Besides, zombies and vampires are related to each other, aren't they?"
What the fuck did he say?!
It was preposterous! To compare those cretins with us? With me? Even the thought makes me puke my insides out!
"What the hell are you saying?! I am nothing like those mindless creatures who crave human flesh! I am sophisticated! We, vampires are sophisticated than those cretins! How dare you to compare us?!" I hissed at him.
Leonard gave me a smug smile and didn't say anything. This human! I should break his fingers for his insolence.
"Master, I have packed five bags," Nathan said. He has put all the five bags near his legs, while waiting for my confirmation.
I took a deep breath and calmed down myself. "Put those inside the car. We will use the same car until we find a better one. Also, Nathan... how did you make a map? Are you a local resident?"
Nathan smiled at my question. He had a proud look on his face. With a tone full of pride, he replied, "I am a map expert! Maps are my speciality. Before apocalypse, I had always dreamt of becoming an adventurer! Master, I will be your navigator! From now on, you will never worry about getting lost." His eyes had a dreamy look.
I am worried now, if not before. My hands wanted to tear the map apart, but it was the only way by which I could navigate myself in this world for the time being.
"Is this the person who I lost my virginity to?" whispered Leonard.
You were virgin? Oh, that would explain your constant pining towards Bernard.
I feel sorry for Leonard. Even a lot of vampires are like Nathan, though they dream of drinking lots of blood and having lots of sex, without doing anything. Basically, they are the scum of our society... like Nathan.
"Nathan, you were jobless, weren't you?" I asked.
Nathan nodded quickly. He was looking at me with eyes full of confusion. He asked, "Is there any problem?"
"Oh my god! I can't see this," Leonard hissed and walked away.
I shook my head and replied, "Nothing, let's go."

The city has lost its life. There was no sign of a living being. It would be miracle to even find a rat in this city. Vehicles were lying broken on the road, acting as obstacles for many. Dead bodies were scattered across the road. It was safe to say that the roads were most affected by the onset of apocalypse.
"Zombies have destroyed everything," Nathan said. He had a solemn look on his face.
I said, "Because they are mindless creatures, who have no control over their actions," I turned towards Leonard, "I am surprised that you have adapted to your new name."
"You haven't given me a choice, have you?" Leonard snorted.
True. I haven't.
We crossed some zombies, who growled at our car and tried to chase us. Till now, we have crossed twenty zombies, including them. Whenever they see our car, they growl and run, both of which are equally pathetic.
I leaned back on my seat and closed my eyes. I don't have all of my powers, and some of them are there, but are affected by the interdimensional travel. My strength is almost... passable. As for my healing rate... it has increased. All I need is, to drink more blood.
My sword and scythe are inaccessible. So is my wings and bat form.
The only good thing for me is that the scars on my body has vanished. Also, I have got back my sunglasses and hat. It's always so much exciting when you pry things out of dead and cold human bodies.
"Master, it's getting late. We have to find some place safe for the night," said Nathan, who was diligently driving the car for almost three hours.
Hmmm... I looked around to see tall buildings, small shops, cafés and every other human architecture surrounding us.
"We have a lot of options. What do you say Leonard?" I looked at Leonard for answer.
Leonard gave me a thoughtful look. After several seconds, he said, "Nathan is correct. We need a safe place... and so do you. Being out in the open is likely a ticket to become zombies. Buildings will not be a good safe place as many workers couldn't have escaped the zombies' attack. We all know how a typical 9-to-5 worker is, right?"
"Yes, they would be fat and totally unfit. A 9-to-5 worker is the best target for a zombie," Nathan agreed with Leonard's reasoning.
"There is a church around here. A few metres ahead, I guess. We can stay there," suggested Leonard.
Nathan nodded, "Before getting captured, I heard about a church in this city, acting as a small base for survivors. We should go there. Master, what do you think?"
Me?
I guess, it's fine. More humans mean more blood, isn't it?
"It won't hurt to go there," I tapped Nathan's shoulder, "Nathan, stop the car near the church and keep it close to the entrance. We will stay there for the night."
Churches have always been a fascinating thing for me. Let's see how this world's church works.
