Chapter 12 - Chapter 11

Belinda's POV

It's the next morning and my head feels surprisingly lighter than I imagined it would after the night I had.

As I'm tossing and turning, flashes of last night's events start replaying in my mind.

Fml

Not again.

How am I supposed to face Jackson after all the things I said? I hope he doesn't bring anything up or I will genuinely kill myself after firing him of course.

Soon I gathered the strength to get up, and as soon as I remembered I didn't wash my makeup off, I rushed to the bathroom.

"I'm so sorry gorgeous face!" I yelled to myself before I reached the bathroom mirror.

Huh?

Did I wash it off and I just forgot?

"Belinda? How you feeling today?" Jackson asked, quite concerned as he folded his arms and leaned against the door frame.

I know exactly what he wants to hear about and I'm not in the mood today.

"I'm feeling good surprisingly. I thought I'd feel hungover but I actually feel...normal."

I noticed a smile that appeared, and quickly faded away from his lips.

"What?" I asked, confused and embarrassed.

"No nothing. As long as you're okay. Oh and congratulations on the club deal. Can't wait to see what you do with it."

He disappeared into the hallway and I let out a deep breath.

Calvin touching me the way he did without even knowing me really triggered me last night. He had to die for that or I would have lost my mind.

I love that Jay doesn't question me when I make decisions like that. Knowing him, he was probably watching the whole time and ready to step in if I needed his help.

I took a shower and dressed comfortably. It's a cozy Saturday today so there's no need to get dolled up.

Jackson did same, but his gorgeous hair was covered by a beanie. I wish he wore it out more often because it's officially one of my favourite things about him.

You're probably wondering why the sudden attraction in this man. He used to stay in the pool-house outside okay? He moved into the main house literally this week. That's why all these things are shocking me daily.

"So what are the plans for today?" I asked him.

"Well that depends, do you have any errands you need to do or anything you want me to do for you?"

"No not today." I responded.

My eyes are still a little puffy from crying last night, and I'm hoping he doesn't bring any attention to them.

"Wanna tell me what you were crying about?" He eventually blurted out, and I nearly choked on my juice.

He tried to hold in a laugh as I gave him a warning glare.

"As your bodyguard I need to know what distressed you so I know how to help you if it ever happens again." He added.

Why are we doing this? I don't want to do this.

He's looking at me intensely, as if he's waiting to see what my next reaction will be.

"Honey I'm home!" Brian yelled as he walked in unannounced.

Perfect timing.

"What do you want? And why didn't we hear you pull in?" I asked.

"Because I walked here from Jennie Goldberg's place that's why." He said, in the most disgusting way possible.

"Goldberg? The one married to the that big time lawyer?" Jay asked him.

How did he know that? I didn't even know that.

"Yeah. She filed for divorce to be with me imagine. Little does she know I'm only using her to get back at him for beating me at golf last week." He responded.

Wtf?

"So you wrecked his home because you're a sore loser?" I asked, disappointed.

"She wrecked her own home. She just chose me as her scapegoat because apparently she suspects he sleeps with his intern. Not my fault my magic wand worked wonders on her. I didn't tell her to divorce him. I just told her I'd change her life and she took matters into her own hands and thought I meant I liked her or something."

"Brian you need to grow up." I responded.

When I looked over at Jackson, he was already looking at me deep in thought. I hoped he was not still stuck on our interrupted conversation, because I did not want to touch on it at all.

"I'm gonna go to the movie lounge. Brian go home." I teased, after leaving.

Jackson's POV

I will get to the bottom of this situation with Bel even if she attempts to kill me.

Nothing rattles this woman, so living under the same roof is really showing me there's more to her.

"Hey…Brian?"

"Yup?" He responded, eating almost everything on the breakfast table.

As disgusted as I'd like to feel, I don't mind it because he's using his free will as he wishes.

"Something big happened to Belinda in her past. What was it?"

He stopped eating and his face changed.

"Look Jay, we like you okay? But this is beyond me, and I don't think she wants anyone to know. Have you tried asking her?"

"Well… yeah because she's had a nightmare and a breakdown about whatever it is, but she won't say anything."

"She gets like that a lot. Something only people who live with her could know. My advice? Just be there for her in those moments but don't ask questions after okay? She once stabbed me for asking."

Hell no.

I'm not about to let my girl suffer in silence like that. I will ask.

"Okay" I agreed, just to dismiss the topic.

Soon Brian left and I decided to quickly do some work, then I joined Bel in the movie lounge.

She looked so comfortable.

"Mind if I join you?" I asked.

"Yeah sure, I don't mind." She said, waving her wine glass in the air.

Shit…here we go again.

You know what… I may as well join her.

She poured me a glass and we got to talking about her new upgrade plans for her office.
