Chapter 9 - "Lower Moon One's Last Stand"

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Hey, hey, hey—what's going on here?!"

"Didn't that demon's neck already get cut off?"

"Up until now, every demon who had their neck severed by a Nichirin Blade has died without exception, but this time…"

Across countless worlds, eyes widened in shock. Faces filled with confusion.

"The neck is still supposed to be the vital point… unless…"

For once, the usually taciturn Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, spoke up.

"Could it be that the neck Tanjiro cut wasn't the real body's?"

Shinobu's expression grew grave.

Just as the Hashira suspected, the demon Tanjiro had been fighting wasn't Enmu's true form at all.

While the passengers slept, Lower Moon One had already fused himself with the Mugen Train.

Now, under the horrified stares of countless onlookers across the multiverse, the steel cars sprouted flesh. Tendrils burst forth one after another, twisting into monstrous appendages.

The train itself had become the demon's dining hall. And the more than two hundred passengers aboard? Nothing more than food laid out on the table.

Konosuba World

"Oi, oi, oi! He merged with the whole train?! That's such blatant cheating! How the hell are they supposed to find the weak spot now?" Kazuma yelled, throwing his hands up.

"There's only one option left. If it were me, I'd just blow the entire thing sky-high with Explosion Magic." Megumin declared with grave seriousness.

"No way, Megumin! There are still over two hundred passengers on board!" Yunyun scolded.

"Wha—Yunyun?! Since when were you here?!" Megumin nearly jumped out of her skin.

Spy x Family World

"This is… a crisis!"

Anya pressed her face close to the glowing screen, eyes wide with excitement.

"What's gonna happen now? C'mon, Tanjiro! Waku waku!"

For children her age, this "Hero Compilation" felt just like watching a cartoon.

But to Twilight, top spy of his world, it was something else entirely. For kids, this is just entertainment… but powers like this? This goes beyond science. This is practically gods and demons. Which means… this can't be happening on our Earth.

"If it were me on a mission," Yor mused seriously while chopping vegetables in the kitchen, "I'd just dismantle the entire train."

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime World

"Hah! That demon looks just like a slime right now!" chuckled the storm dragon, Veldora.

"Slimes are NOT like that!" Rimuru protested, offended.

And yet… after thinking it over for a moment, Rimuru hesitated. Okay, maybe… a little.

"Hahaha! Don't get so worked up—it was just a joke!" Veldora roared with laughter.

Under the tense gaze of countless worlds, the turning point finally arrived.

A wild, raucous laugh split the air.

Inosuke—boar-headed and loud as ever—had woken up.

Almost at the same time, Zenitsu, half-asleep as always, unleashed Thunder Breathing: First Form, his lightning-fast strike slicing through the writhing tendrils.

And then, the Flame Hashira himself, Kyojuro Rengoku, burst onto the scene.

What seemed like an ordinary charge and slash shook the entire train. The sheer force nearly sent it off the tracks. His overwhelming power even suppressed the demon's regeneration.

Under Rengoku's command, Tanjiro and Inosuke scrambled up to the roof to go for the neck, while Rengoku, Zenitsu, and Nezuko took responsibility for defending the passengers.

Rengoku covered five cars, Zenitsu and Nezuko three.

The counterattack had begun.

Demon Slayer World

"Wahahaha! Did you see that? That was ME in action!" Inosuke bellowed, laughing proudly in the courtyard.

"Was that really me?! I was so cool! And I protected Nezuko too!" Zenitsu trembled all over, barely able to contain himself.

"Tanjiro! Nezuko-chan! Are you okay?!"

"We're fine, Zenitsu, Inosuke!" Tanjiro waved back with relief.

The Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui, started forward to block them—technically, they weren't supposed to barge into a Hashira meeting.

"It's fine, Tengen," said Ubuyashiki calmly, raising a hand. "The meeting's already over. And besides, Zenitsu and Inosuke are part of the future battles too."

Sword Art Online World

In the floating castle of Aincrad, Asuna chuckled.

"Kirito, don't you think that boar-headed boy is a lot like you in some ways?"

"Huh? Me? How?" Kirito tilted his head.

"Well, for one thing, his voice. His build too. Oh, and… he also fights with dual blades."

"…Now that you mention it…" Kirito scratched his head awkwardly. Even he had to admit, there was a resemblance.

"Don't tell me that's your alternate self in another world!" Asuna teased, eyes sparkling.

"No, no, no, no way! An alternate self? That's ridiculous!" Kirito waved frantically.

"Pfft—just kidding!" Asuna giggled.

Then her voice softened. "Hey, Kirito… do you think we'll really make it out of here alive?"

"We will. I swear it. I'll bet everything I have to make sure you survive this." Kirito's voice was steady, unwavering.

On the glowing battlefield screen, the fight grew fiercer by the second.

Tanjiro and Inosuke finally managed to locate Enmu's true neck. But cutting through it was no simple task.

The endless tendrils weren't the only threat—dozens of eyes lined the demon's body, and locking gazes with them meant instant sleep.

Once again, Tanjiro was trapped in a nightmare loop, forced to keep killing himself over and over.

This time, the nightmare nearly claimed him for real. The boundary between dream and reality blurred until he almost truly ended his own life.

But unlike before, he wasn't alone.

Inosuke—his boar mask blocking the demon's gaze—pulled Tanjiro back from the brink.

Together, the two fought side by side, pushing forward no matter the odds. Even when a possessed conductor stabbed Tanjiro in an act of desperation, nothing could stop the blade's final swing.

Flames spiraled through the night as Tanjiro's sword cut true.

Lower Moon One, Enmu, was beheaded.

The young Demon Slayers had struck down another of the Twelve Kizuki.

And yet…

The battle wasn't over.

From within the wreckage of the derailed train, dust billowed high into the sky.

Through the haze, two golden eyes snapped open.

In their pupils, three characters burned bright—

Upper Moon Three.
