Chapter 27 - 27

Emiya Shirou was in Konoha Hospital, playing the part of a doctor. It was something he had to do, being a genuine medical ninja. Few people recognized his face, but some in the hospital found him familiar. The Senju clan had many medical ninjas, and most of them, like Hashirama, had secretly peeked at his crystal coffin in their childhood.

"Have him watch his diet." A faint emerald green chakra on Shirou's fingertip disappeared. Without looking at the patient he had just healed, he instructed his assistant, "Tell his family he can be discharged today."

Chakra was indeed a miraculous power. It could make wounds heal quickly. Paired with superb medical skills, even for complex surgeries, the healing ability of chakra could reduce the risk to a minimum.

"Lord Emiya is too amazing! We didn't even dare to operate on this patient!" his assistant gushed.

"This is normal," Shirou said, handing her a medical chart. "I'm just more skilled because I've done too many surgeries. Your conservative treatment plan also had some effect. At least it kept him alive..."

He pointed to the chart. "These are medicines that might be used. I've seen many patients, so I know a little more. The last patient like this ate herbs from his neighborhood to relieve the pain. I used this herb on other patients and it was very effective. And it didn't cause any other diseases in the patients..."

"Oh, right," he added suddenly, "after finding this herb, don't use it yet. Let me study it first. The situation may be different." After all, a thousand years of evolution might have changed the human body.

Outside the operating room, Shirou had just pushed the door open when he was met with a startling sight.

"Lord Emiya!" Senju Hashirama knelt before him. The First Hokage kowtowed, begging him to save his subordinate, Sarutobi Sasuke. "Please save my companion, Sasuke! As long as you can save his life, I'll do anything!" He couldn't help but cry.

The corner of Shirou's eye twitched.

Is this person trying to cause trouble? And hearing 'save Sasuke' from his mouth still sounds weird.

The assistant behind him covered her face. Many people knew this First Hokage. Though he possessed great power, he was always easily moved to tears and would kneel and kowtow when things happened.

"Sasuke went to track Madara," Hashirama explained how he was injured. "But he was severely injured by Madara's Fire Style ninjutsu. In the village, only—"

"He can still live for a few hours," Shirou said, checking the injuries. A look of terror flashed across everyone's faces. "It seems we have to save him first. If only he could have held on for a few more days."

He called for people to carry Sasuke into the operating room and sighed, "Fortunately, the next patient who needs surgery can still hold on for a few more years."

Sweat beaded on everyone's foreheads.

Wait... is this really a proper medical ninja? If Sasuke could have held on, would he have had to queue up?

Click.

The door to the operating room closed. A group of guards quickly pulled their Hokage down to sit.

As they were waiting, a boy wearing a Konoha headband hurried over. "Monkey!" Hashirama called. This was Sarutobi Sasuke's son, Hiruzen, only fourteen or fifteen years old. Because his family's summoning animal was a monkey, and his occasional restless behavior was like a little monkey, he earned the nickname "Monkey" from the elders.

"Lord Hokage, my father..." the young Hiruzen asked nervously.

"Monkey, don't be afraid," Hashirama comforted him, rubbing his head. "The person treating your father now is the greatest medical ninja in the history of the ninja world."

"Hiruzen!" A group of boys and girls ran over. They bowed to Hashirama, then looked anxiously at their friend. "Hiruzen, we heard that your father..."

The young Hiruzen nodded, his own face calming as he saw his friends' worry. "Thank you. Lord Hokage just told me that father will recover soon."

"That's right!" A big smile bloomed on Hashirama's face. "I swear on my name as Hokage, he will recover soon!"

"Lord Hokage!" a group of guards were so scared they wanted to cover his mouth.

Wait... you can't just say things like that!

Sasuke was near death. No one had expected the head of the Sarutobi clan, skilled in Fire Style, to be so severely injured by a Fire Style jutsu. Of course, considering his opponent, it was a feat to have been sent to the hospital alive.

"Hmm? Where's Danzo?" a girl asked.

"Danzo seems to be still training," a boy with glasses explained. "We haven't had time to tell him."

"Don't tell him today," Hiruzen said, acting like a little adult. "I'll find a chance after my father's condition has stabilized." His companions quickly nodded in agreement.

Inside the operating room, Shirou performed the surgery with a calm expression. This burn surgery was nothing special. For the assistant, however, the scene was a bit terrifying. Shirou's left hand held a chakra scalpel, slowly cutting out the burned skin and muscle. His right hand held emerald green Yang-natured chakra, quickly stopping the bleeding and causing the cells to regenerate.

"Don't be afraid," he said, comforting her while channeling chakra. "The patient's body is very strong. Compared to complex internal organ surgery, this is very simple. Fortunately, he was instantly burned. He doesn't have any inhalation burns. I once saved a patient who survived a fire. When I met him, his respiratory tract and lungs had suffered horrific burns."

"And... what happened?" the assistant asked with some fear as he chatted while performing surgery.

"?" Shirou glanced at her with some confusion, then spoke as if it were a matter of course. "At that time, my condition was stronger than it is now. I easily cut open that patient's trachea and lungs and saved him."

The assistant was already feeling a bit dizzy.

"As expected of... Lord Emiya," Sasuke's consciousness awoke in pain. He felt severe pain all over his body, but struggled to give a compliment.

"You're awake?" Shirou thought for a second, then suddenly asked a question that terrified the assistant. "By the way, do you remember if I gave him anesthesia before I started saving him?"
