Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Planning

To master Haki, having a strong body as the foundation should make it easier.

But he wasn't a native of the One Piece world. Even if Toguro had been reshaped by it and gained the same potential for Haki as everyone else, like Rayleigh said, everyone had Haki, but most people could never use it.

Right now, he had no information about Haki. In other words, his knowledge about training it was zero. The hardest step was always going from nothing to something. Once you had the basics, then going from one to one thousand was just a matter of steady training.

The One Piece world had many dojos, even specialized schools for things like Fishman Karate. But if he wanted to systematically learn Haki, he'd probably have to go to Wano or the Marines. Observation Haki wasn't too hard, but Armament Haki had to be trained step by step.

The problem was…

Should he let Toguro join the Marines?

He hesitated. Toguro cost him one million negative emotional value to summon, so of course the return had to be huge. If Toguro joined the Marines, the things he could do would be far too restricted.

It wasn't like the world was in the middle of a massive draft where someone could jump straight into the rank of Admiral.

Starting from a regular Marine, then slowly working up while learning Haki—that would take way too much time. It'd be quicker to just capture a Vice Admiral or a powerful pirate in the New World and force the information out of them.

At this point, he even considered spending another hundred thousand emotional value to draw another card and split up his team to capture or interrogate people. But after thinking about it, he gave up on that idea.

After all, the last two hundred-thousand draws had been insanely lucky—he got the Nine-Tails and Astral Foul Air, both incredibly useful. But the next draw might not be that lucky.

Instead of spending it little by little, it might be better to save it up and start the lottery once it reaches a million emotion points. Anyway, once it drops below a million, it won't get "restricted" again, and it won't fall to half either. This way, maybe after some time, it can return to a million emotion points.

In the past few days, he had more or less figured out the current era. It was still the Rocks era, the year 1484. But this era was about to come to an end.

Because this was the year when Roger and Garp joined forces to crush Rocks's dream of being king of the world. Rocks himself died in the God Valley battle, and his pirate crew also broke apart completely.

Genichi felt that this might be a great chance to harvest emotion points. The problem was, he had no idea when exactly the God Valley battle would start, nor did he know if he could reach the level needed to take part in such a fight before then.

On that battlefield, to hold any real position, you'd at least need the strength of an Admiral or a Yonko, right?

Thinking about this, he figured that most likely, he'd need at least the level of the Nine-Tails from before…

Even if Toguro fully mastered Haki, there were only a few months left before God Valley. In such a short time, how far could he train his Observation Haki? How much Armament Haki could he build up?

The more he thought about it, the more it felt like it still wasn't enough…

But then again, there was still plenty of time in the future, so he wasn't too worried.

Maybe the next million negative emotion points character card would give him a surprise, or maybe the next hundred-thousand positive emotion points item card would quickly make him stronger.

After some thought, he decided to head to the New World together with Toguro. With the Dimensional Miasma protecting him, safety wasn't really a problem. He first entered the dark space, then materialized Toguro.

Toguro appeared in the One Piece world. His height of over two meters made him stand out in other worlds, but here it was nothing special. In fact, in this world, freaks who were three or four meters tall were everywhere.

He wore a light-green coat that looked a bit like a military uniform. His body was broad and powerful, and with his black sunglasses, he gave off the aura of someone strong. After appearing, he glanced at the small town ahead, then calmly shoved his hands in his pockets and walked forward.

The Dimensional Miasma trailed behind him like a stand-in. Genichi took over Toguro's body, then with a thought, recalled the dark space and quietly made his way toward the ship heading for the New World.

There were only two ways to reach the New World from the first half of the Grand Line. One was the legal way—passing through the Holy Land Mary Geoise on the Red Line. The other was the pirate way—getting a coating at Sabaody and traveling ten thousand meters under the sea through Fish-Man Island.

But now, most of the buildings above Sabaody Archipelago had been destroyed by the Nine-Tails, and it would take a long time to recover. So the only option left was to go through Mary Geoise legally. This was fatal for pirates, but it didn't matter at all to Toguro.

He wasn't a pirate, and the incidents with the Nine-Tails and Zero couldn't be traced back to him. With his identity, he hadn't done anything evil, so there was no problem taking the legal route.

He also had plenty of money. Back when he escaped from Sabaody, he had casually grabbed a bunch of money from the auction house. While his pockets couldn't hold too much, it was still enough to cover basic expenses.

The cost of boarding the ship was well within his means.

Even though Mary Geoise had also been bombarded by the Nine-Tails, it was still the face of the World Government. They couldn't possibly shut down normal sea routes just because of that. Otherwise, wouldn't that mean the World Government didn't even have the ability to maintain basic order?

"When I have enough money later, I'll put one of my clones inside the Marines as a spy. With official cover, doing things will be a lot easier."

That was what Genichi thought. As for declaring war on the World Government like he had said before, that was impossible for now. With his current strength, he couldn't even withstand a single serious strike from them. At the very least, he'd need to hit a ten-million or even hundred-million emotion points lottery before he could really talk about overthrowing them.

But using those bold words to stir up emotions had worked well enough. If he had connections in a news agency, he'd definitely spread his conversation with Zephyr everywhere. That would've caused an even wider and stronger emotional response. Unfortunately…

He was still too new, too shallow in his foundation.

On the way to Mary Geoise, he thought about many things, especially his plans for the future.

When they finally arrived below the Holy Land, and it was time to disembark, Toguro grinned, showing his white teeth.

His positive emotion points had finally broken past one hundred thousand!

That meant he might finally draw an item that was actually useful to him.

The last time he got that beef-and-potato stew, it almost drove him mad.
