Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Chemical Reaction

"..." Maeve frowned, quite speechless, "Are you sure about this? Just you and him alone, what if he tries something funny?"

"Go away!" Sienna Thornton grabbed a pillow from behind and threw it at her, looking displeased. "You've seen what he looks like, is he my type?"

Maeve elongated the "Oh" with a teasing glint in her eyes towards Sienna Thornton, "He's pretty handsome, much more so than your mentor..."

"...Why are you bringing up my mentor out of nowhere?"

"I need to remind you from time to time that your mentor... is married."

"His marriage is none of my concern."

Seeing Sienna Thornton's stubborn denial, Maeve shook her head helplessly, picked up a magazine from the sofa, flipped a few pages, and then remembered something, "We agreed that once the B&B becomes profitable, you have to resign from your current law firm."

Mentioning resignation, Sienna Thornton fell silent.

The atmosphere became quiet.

"Knock, knock."

Someone knocked on the door, Maeve got up to take a look and quickly opened it.

Sienna Thornton knew who had arrived, sulking with her face turned towards the wall as she lay down.

The visitor handed a bouquet of daisies to Maeve, glanced at Sienna Thornton lying with her back to them, and silently mouthed to Maeve, "What's wrong with her?"

Maeve shook her head, turned around, and placed the daisies in a vase.

Zion Quincy smiled, carried a thermos, walked over to the bedside, sat down, gently patted Sienna Thornton's shoulder with his overly fair hand, and asked softly, "How are you feeling?"

"Not dead."

Hearing her biting tone, Zion Quincy knew she was in a particularly bad mood. Yet he wasn't annoyed, smiling as he opened the thermos, and the delicious aroma of seafood porridge immediately filled the entire room.

"Maeve, come have some scallop and shrimp congee," Zion Quincy called out to Maeve.

Maeve rolled her eyes at him, reluctantly walked over, and exaggeratedly said, "Wow, the shrimp looks so fresh, and the scallops are so big, each one distinct. If someone doesn't eat it, it'll be my treat..."

This trick never failed, and sure enough, Sienna Thornton obediently sat up, snatched the thermos from Zion Quincy's hand, and opened it.

Seeing her eating well, Zion Quincy gestured with his eyes to Maeve, and Maeve followed him outside.

Zion Quincy was a neurosurgeon at Brimfield First Hospital and, like Maeve, was a high school classmate of Sienna Thornton. Over more than ten years, he became an excellent doctor and also Sienna Thornton's close friend.

Only in front of him and Maeve would Sienna Thornton openly shed her many layers of defenses and be her true and free self.

When the two re-entered the hospital room, Maeve was as calm as ever, while Zion Quincy's expression wasn't so good. He reminded Sienna Thornton to rest well, and soon left.

Once the door closed, Sienna Thornton yawned and burrowed into the bed.

Maeve walked over to tuck her in, saying, "Zion said he would help us find a designer, so you don't need to keep bothering with Simon Forrester."

"In terms of young architects in the country, Simon Forrester is definitely number one. No matter how good the designer Zion finds, they wouldn't have Simon Forrester's popularity. We're not just looking to build the B&B and be done with it."

Maeve pondered for a moment, then agreed, "I don't have any objections to this matter, you go ahead and handle it as you see fit, just don't go overboard."

The reason she supported this was not only because Simon Forrester's popularity could indeed bring good benefits to the B&B, but also because she wanted to wager a bit, to see if there could be some chemistry between Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton.

Simon Forrester's actions regarding Sienna Thornton's injury gained Maeve's admiration. She was rarely wrong about people, just like how she previously didn't think highly of Thomas Reed, who indeed turned out to be a complete jerk. Rather than following Thomas Reed aimlessly, Sienna Thornton might as well engage more with Simon Forrester.

But she hadn't mentioned any of this to Sienna Thornton, as any mention would surely have Sienna Thornton flipping out.

...

Sienna Thornton stayed in the hospital for a week and was discharged only after the re-examination results showed no issues.

On the day of discharge, Harrison Rowe handled the formalities.

Likely because of Simon Forrester's instructions, Harrison Rowe was very diligent and even drove Sienna Thornton, Maeve, and the caregiver back to their apartment.

On the way back, Sienna Thornton pretended to casually ask Harrison Rowe, "What's your Director Forrester up to lately?"

"Director Forrester is currently on a business trip to Franland."

"When will he be back?"

Harrison Rowe paused, didn't answer immediately. It wasn't until they were at a red light and he checked his phone, that he said, "Director Forrester will arrive in Brimfield at 8 p.m. tomorrow night."
