Min Seok slid another document across. "And here's the list of the last calls and appointments Xiu Min had. Look at this—Jungwon Enterprises. He spoke to someone from there less than 24 hours before his death."
Do Hyun's brow tightened. "That's the same company linked to Keunsa Financial Group in the registry… This must be the next target."
He grabbed his coat.
Min Seok asked, "Should I alert the rest of the team?"
Do Hyun was already walking. "Yes. Do it from the car. Tell Soo Hyuk and the others to gear up fast. I want a full sweep team at that address within 20 minutes."
"Yes, sir!"
The two bolted from the office, footsteps echoing down the hallway. The elevator doors opened, and Min Seok was already dialing.
Do Hyun's gut twisted.
He didn't need a warrant. He didn't need permission.
He knew the killer was moving now.
And if they were right—their paths were about to collide.
The sky hung heavy with clouds, casting a grey pallor over Jungwon Enterprises. The towering glass structure, once buzzing with corporate activity, stood in eerie silence. Not a single guard at the gate. The automatic doors opened without resistance, hissing like a beast exhaling its final breath.
Dressed in full black — hoodie, tactical pants, gloves, and a mask — Lee Chae Min stepped inside, moving like a shadow with purpose. Every step echoed slightly on the marble floor, but nothing stirred.
Everywhere was too quiet.
He scanned the lobby. No reception. No movement.
His eyes narrowed. "They knew I was coming…"
Then Gunshots,Two sharp muffled from above.
He didn't hesitate.
Springing into motion, Chae Min bolted up the emergency stairwell, skipping steps. Years of pain-fueled training made his movement fluid, aggressive, controlled. As he reached the top floor, the echo of hurried footsteps caught his attention,he turned the corner. Two figures — one tall, one short — were fleeing down the opposite hallway, towards the parking deck.
Chae Min gave chase.
They looked back and saw the masked figure racing behind them. Panic. The taller one shouted something, but the words were lost under the pounding of boots on steel stairs.
They crashed through the exit door and into the underground parking lot, vanishing behind parked vehicles.
Chae Min followed, dodging pillars and weaving between cars. But by the time he reached the open lot, a black SUV screeched out of a dark corner and tore off into the night.
He growled in frustration, ripping off his mask.
"Dammit"
A scream of rage tore from his throat as he slammed a fist into the concrete pillar beside him. Pain flared in his knuckles — he welcomed it.
He took a breath, refocused.
The shots.
Turning back, he retraced his steps to the executive office floor.
The hallway greeted him with a trail — blood smeared like a dragged body. Splashes along the walls. A bullet hole in the elevator frame. He followed the trail slowly, gun drawn.
He pushed the office door open, the scent of blood, bitter and metallic, filled his lungs.
There, slouched in the director's high-backed chair, was Director Seo Jin of Jungwon Enterprises— one of the last people connected to Xiu Min, and a known associate of Keunsa Financial Group.
Two bullets had been fired into his head. Blood dripped from his chin, his lifeless eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.
Chae Min approached slowly, anger twisting his features.
On the floor near the desk were burned pieces of paper, remnants of destroyed records.
He crouched, scanning them. The ink was mostly destroyed, but he could see fragments of financial logs... and names. Just enough to know this was planned.
Chae Min whispered bitterly,
"They've erased everything…"
Then something glinted under the shelf.
He reached for it.
A small hidden spy camera, its red light still blinking.
Flashback – The Escapee's Fate
The man who had escaped during Chae Min's attack on Xiu Min's illegal gambling site was now kneeling in a dark, expensive office. Behind him stood two men in sharp black suits, their expressions cold and unreadable.
Facing the large window, looking out over the city of Busan, stood a tall man with a powerful frame — Kim Tae Won, CEO of Keunsa Financial Group.
The kneeling man stammered, "Sir, I saw everything. I managed to escape... I even recorded the fight. That man, the one in black, he killed almost everyone—"
Kim Tae Won didn't turn around. His voice was calm but dangerous.
"Did he see your face?"
The man shook his head quickly. "No, no! I made sure he didn't. I ran before he saw me."
Tae Won finally turned, walking slowly to his desk. He picked up the device the man handed over and played the short clip. The video showed Chae Min checking Xiu Min table and reading the ledger.
Tae Won watched quietly.
Then:
"You did well."
He smiled faintly. "You'll be rewarded. Go home and rest."
The man, visibly relieved, bowed repeatedly and left.Once the door clicked shut, one of the suited men asked:
"What should we do with him?"
Kim Tae Won sat, leaning back in his chair.
"Kill him."
The order was final. "I don't want any potential witnesses, he might blow this situation to the police once they find him. I don't trust him."
The second man stepped forward. "And the attacker? Should we hunt him down?"
Tae Won smirked.
"No. Let him think he's making progress. Let him run to his next clue."
He leaned forward darkly, placing his hand on jaw and smirks wickedly.
"But kill the director of Jungwon Enterprises. He was the last person to speak with Xiu Min. If the attacker's smart, he'll go there next. Let's leave him something to find, a welcoming gift."
The two men bowed to Tae Won before leaving Tae Won alone in the office who kept looking at the video showing Chae Min in the office.
Back to Chae Min -
He stood up, turned it toward his face,he laughed weirdly as he see the camera. He knew he was being monitored and also setup.
"Watch closely, Kim Tae Won,"he growled.
"I will find you. And I will end you."
He slammed the camera to the floor and crushed it beneath his boot.
As he made his way to leave, he heard footsteps coming to the room. Then Kang Do Hyun show up looking at the masked man in black while Chae Min became shocked to see Do Hyun. Do Hyun look at the body sitting in the chair then look back at Chae Min who was staring at him.
Chae Min then thought to himself : "What a Setup!".
