Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Why Are You Forcing Me to Harm Ordinary People?

If it had been before, Lin Rui would have been a staunch materialist.

Calculating with a pinch of the fingers to determine where a criminal might be, she would be the first to express disbelief.

But now...

The image of the victim winking at her in that previous 428 murder case still lingers in her mind.

Others calculating with a pinch of the fingers isn't a big deal, but Zhang Feng, darn it, he's a bit spooky!

On the other end of the phone, Officer Hu held the phone, with a hint of hesitation in his eyes, and said:

"Are you talking about the burglary case... the recent ones with no surveillance footage, and not even a fingerprint left behind?"

"Are you saying Zhang Feng found the culprit? Even with no clues, he could pinpoint the target?"

Lin Rui: "Emm... that's what he said. He went alone now. I feel like we should send a team to support him."

"Alright, I understand."

Officer Hu hung up the phone, a peculiar expression on his face.

He was muttering under his breath:

"Really... it's been a month, and not a single clue, because of what, this little Zhang..."

Just then, a police officer came running out of the interrogation room behind him, coming straight to Officer Hu with a hint of excitement on his face and said:

"Boss, he confessed! He confessed to everything, and it matches up with the materials you brought today almost perfectly!"

"The 428 case can be declared solved!"

"Really?!" Hearing the report from his subordinate, Officer Hu's eyes widened in surprise!

Then he turned directly into the interrogation room, pulled out a photo from his phone, and placed it in front of the criminal, sternly questioning:

"Do you know this person?!"

The subordinates in the interrogation room, including the criminal, had no idea what was going on with Officer Hu or what he was doing.

Seeing the photo on Officer Hu's phone, the criminal visibly panicked and responded:

"Is this person dead too?"

"I didn't kill this one, I only killed one person! You can't frame me for this!"

Years of investigation experience told Officer Hu instantly that this person was not lying.

Everything he said was the truth.

"Could it be that I'm overthinking?" Officer Hu hesitantly muttered to himself.

The photo on his phone was actually Zhang Feng's employment photo.

His subordinate came forward curiously and asked:

"Boss, what's going on?"

Officer Hu shook his head, and just then, his phone vibrated.

It was a location sent by Lin Rui.

His eyes moved, and he turned to his subordinate behind him and said:

"Go call Xiao Wang, drive, and follow me!"

...

At this time, Zhang Feng had just gotten off the taxi.

It was a scrapyard on the outskirts of the city center, looking rather desolate, with the gates wide open but no one visiting.

Zhang Feng entered directly without hesitation.

Inside the scrapyard's warehouse, two men in their thirties or forties were sitting on piles of drink bottles.

One of them, bald, was holding a little wooden-carved horse, examining it with a frown.

He turned and said to the man next to him, who had stitches at the corner of his eye:

"Second, are you sure this thing is valuable?"

The second seemed very excited and nodded directly, saying:

"It's definitely valuable. Last night, in the house we stole from, things like gestures and money were either in drawers or cabinets, but this thing was in a special box with a combination lock!"

"I went to a lot of trouble to open that lock. If this thing isn't valuable, why protect it so well?"

But the bald man kept flipping it over, looking more and more peculiar:

"Are you sure this isn't just a kid's toy?"

"How could it be?!" The second was a bit agitated:

"Does a toy need to be preserved so meticulously? I think it might be an antique?"

"Brother, you know antiques, we have no clue about such strange things."

The bald man scoffed, holding up the doll and said to the second:

"I get it, but... can you explain why there's a Crayon Shin-chan engraved on this horse's butt?"

"What?" The second snatched the horse, but before he could look at it—

"Creak," the warehouse's old and worn-out door was pushed open from the outside.

Both middle-aged men reflexively jumped up from the scrap heap!

The bald man hid one of his hands behind his back.

A young man in his twenties walked in from the beam of light outside.

The bald man asked in a deep voice:

"Here to sell scrap?"

The young man pushing the door was, of course, Zhang Feng.

He glanced around the warehouse.

The smell permeating the place made Zhang Feng twitch his nose slightly, a hint of oddness in his eyes.

But he still shook his head at the bald man and said:

"No."

The bald man frowned slightly:

"Then what are you here for? To steal our scrap?"

Why on earth would I steal that crap?

Zhang Feng shook his head again, then pointed at the second with his finger saying:

"The thing in his hand looks like mine. I just want to take my thing back."

The second was stunned at first, and then actually looked delighted, turning to the bald man and saying:

"Big Brother, I told you I didn't steal the wrong thing, didn't I? This thing is really valuable, or why would he come looking for it? It's worth more than everything we've stolen lately..."

"Pia!!"

Before he finished, the bald man slapped the second across the face, shouting angrily:

"Damn it, nobody thought you were mute without you speaking!"

Yeah, nothing was wrong, the guy didn't say anything.

And you go and admit you're a thief yourself?

Zhang Feng also said with a slightly amused expression:

"I was planning to take you in for questioning, didn't expect you to confess yourselves?"

"Perfect, then. Don't move. Hands up, I'm a cop!"

"Cop?" The bald man and the second, who was clutching his cheek, looked at Zhang Feng with strange expressions.

The bald man had a hint of contempt in his eyes and said:

"Kid, who are you trying to scare?"

"You're not even fully grown and pretending to be a cop?!"

"Alright, since you claim you're a cop, let's see if you've got what it takes to catch us!"

"Swoosh!" the bald man whipped out a Tetanus Blade from behind him.

The second, after seeing his brother's actions, was visibly slow but also carefully placed the wooden horse down and grabbed a rusty fire axe from next to him, glaring at Zhang Feng!

Seeing this, Zhang Feng scolded sternly:

"Put down the weapons! Are you really going to resist arrest?"

"Resist arrest?" The bald man's smile turned even more vicious:

"We're not afraid of killing a cop! Since you're here, don't think you'll leave!"

Saying this, he shouted to the second beside him: "Get him! Teach this kid a lesson!"

Then he rushed at Zhang Feng with his machete swinging.

Seeing the two thugs rushing towards him, Zhang Feng spread his hands helplessly:

"I've never laid hands on regular people before, why force me?"
