Day 13 of the Apocalypse
The blizzard finally stopped.
The people trapped for so long cheered wildly.
Despite the government's repeated pleas, urging them not to go out too soon, to stay at home, and wait for government aid.
But the starving people couldn't wait any longer.
More and more people started to go out in search of food, in search of warmth.
Several bloody incidents occurred over food.
They had gone mad with hunger.
Wang Hao's phone kept ringing incessantly.
Hundreds of unread messages.
The snowstorm had been too severe before, blocking vision, making it impossible to go out, but now that the snow had stopped, it was possible to try.
Those colleagues and classmates started asking Wang Hao, the one with the supplies, for grain.
Even Pang Hu and others were frantically calling him.
These people knew a lot more than those classmates and colleagues!
Most of Wang Hao's supplies were purchased from them.
If he sold them now, he could get rich overnight.
Wang Hao threw the phone to the side, completely ignoring them.
The disaster is over?
Wishful thinking!
The mysterious hint said there would be changes in fifteen days.
Meaning, this snowstorm was just an appetizer.
After tidying up, Wang Hao went down to the basement and entered his safest house.
He didn't know what the hint about change meant.
It's safer to stay in the control room.
Here, he could be completely isolated from the outside world, equipped not only with an external air filtration system but also an independent oxygen supply system.
And it had been specially reinforced, so even a missile wouldn't scare him.
He turned on all the monitors and constantly watched official live broadcasts as well as various influencer outdoor streams.
There was coffee and tea on the table.
Wang Hao didn't plan to sleep these two days.
He needed to keep a close eye on the changes. Besides, tomorrow, a treasure was set to appear on his rooftop.
He had to keep a close watch; nothing could go wrong.
Night fell, the sky shrouded in clouds, not a trace of light.
"Beep beep beep"
An alarm sounded in the control room.
Wang Hao, who had been lounging with legs crossed, snacking on duck neck and binge-watching dramas, quickly straightened up, his eyes scanning the monitors, quickly locking onto the intruders.
He manipulated the control lever, enlarging the tracking footage of the intruders on the largest screen.
There were about eight of them.
Each wore thick jackets, well-protected.
They all carried toolkits.
They looked well-prepared.
By now, the snow had already buried the first floor, rendering the various traps he had set in the courtyard useless.
But Wang Hao wasn't the least bit worried.
His house was solid as a fortress, not easy to breach.
But who were these people?
His villa was quite remote; even if outsiders wanted to break in and rob, they wouldn't come all the way here!
As for other residents in the villa area, that was impossible.
At the onset of the snowstorm, supply trucks had already delivered relief inside.
No one was really short on food; even if they were, they could borrow a bit at the door, no need for robbery, right?
Besides, the snowstorm was over, and the disaster would soon pass.
They didn't strike earlier, so why now? It made no sense.
"Could it be someone familiar?"
Wang Hao's gaze grew sharper.
As he pondered, the group outside had already reached Wang Hao's villa.
They took off their equipment.
"Haha, the snow piled up nicely; we don't even have to bust the door down."
A man in a military green wolf claw jacket laughed heartily.
"Yeah! These villas, the glass-sealed balconies look nice, but smash them and you're in, hehe."
Another henchman chuckled, picking up a sledgehammer: "Young Master Zhou! Why wait?"
"Fuck it!"
Behind Zhou Chenggong's wind goggles, a glint of cold light in his eyes.
Wang Hao!
Today is your death day.
"Roger that!"
The henchman was ordered, swinging the sledgehammer hard at the glass.
A loud crash sounded.
The glass, contrary to expectations, didn't shatter into pieces.
The impact left it unmoved.
"Damn! It's bulletproof glass."
The henchman angrily slammed it again twice, but it still didn't budge, instead hurting his hand and making him curse:
"Is this idiot brain-dead? Sealing the balcony with bulletproof glass?"
"Hmph, he's a lunatic to begin with."
Zhou Chenggong sneered, clenching his fists in anger.
"That voice!!!"
In the control room, Wang Hao squinted, finally recognizing Zhou Chenggong's voice.
In an instant, everything made sense to him.
Surely Zhang Xiaoxiao, that little wench, must've exaggerated his refusal to collaborate to Zhou Chenggong.
This bastard, driven to desperation, intended to eliminate him.
He had to give it to him, though.
Though the snow had stopped, traveling was still highly inconvenient.
Beyond the snow, the outside temperature was freezing.
To have managed to bring people over in such a short time—this guy had some capability.
"Old classmate, what are you doing? Coming all the way to smash my glass?"
Wang Hao turned on the microphone, shouting at Zhou Chenggong.
The sudden voice startled a few of them.
Wolf Claw Man quickly drew the large machete from his back, adopting a defensive stance, alert to the surroundings.
"Damn! There's a camera."
Zhou Chenggong instinctively scanned the surroundings with a flashlight, cursing.
But he regained his composure quickly, chuckling:
"Wang Hao, you're home! I thought you weren't here. I have something to discuss; come, open the door, it's too cold out here."
"I'm afraid that's not possible! The snow has sealed the door. Even if I wanted to, I can't open it!"
Wang Hao said, feigning difficulty: "How about you help clear the snow for me?"
"Screw you, do I look stupid? Clear snow for you? Smash it! I refuse to believe it's all bulletproof."
Before Zhou Chenggong could reply, the wolf claw man cursed loudly, swinging the sledgehammer at the glass.
Others picked up small hammers, searching and trying to break in.
Alright!
Soon they realized that all the glass here was indeed bulletproof.
After a while of banging, not only did the glass remain intact, but their energy was also depleted.
"You guys better put some effort into it! Don't give up; you're almost successful, I think."
Wang Hao's sarcastic tone reached the panting group, especially grating on their ears.
"Wang Hao! You think bulletproof glass is a barrier for me? Don't forget, there's such a thing called diamond in this world!"
Zhou Chenggong smugly took out a ring box from his pocket, opened it to reveal a large diamond ring inside.
The box's light made it shine spectacularly in the night.
"This diamond ring must be worth at least two hundred thousand, right? Are you willing?"
In the control room, seeing the diamond ring, Wang Hao grew a bit anxious.
"Haha! Once I've killed you, what's a mere two hundred thousand? Even two million, twenty million, wouldn't matter?"
As for you, Wang Hao, you're ultimately just a small fry; even if you stumbled into this apocalypse by sheer luck.
Without skills, connections, relationships, you cannot hold onto this massive wealth."
Zhou Chenggong removed the ring, carelessly discarding the box, and pressed the diamond against the glass, making a hard scratch.
"Hmph! Hammer it!"
Zhou Chenggong confidently turned back; standing with arms folded, face inclined upward at forty-five degrees, looking every bit the solitary master.
He hadn't come unprepared!
