Linda, uncertain of Summer Lowell's intentions, thanked her, adjusted her skirt, and sat comfortably on the single sofa. She then took the coffee prepared by Assistant Fletcher, took a small sip, and placed it on the side table.
She looked up quietly at Summer Lowell, waiting for her to speak.
Summer Lowell, smiling, turned and gestured to her assistant, saying, "You can leave for now. I'll call you if I need you. Please guard the door and try not to let anyone in. I want to have a long chat with Linda."
From the looks of it, she was ready for a long private conversation with Linda.
Linda, not inclined to sit alone with her for long, reluctantly said, "Director Lowell, I still have a lot of work to do. If it's nothing urgent, can we chat another time?"
Summer Lowell chuckled calmly, "Why are you in such a hurry? I just want to chat briefly, maybe ten or twenty minutes. It won't take too much of your time, nor will it affect your work today, don't worry."
