Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: You Raised Me, I'll Protect You Till Old Age

Shawn Grant tried to get up, but the pain in his private parts made it impossible for him to move.

Fiona Grant was stunned by South Grant's behavior. Was this still South Grant?

This was clearly like a completely different person!

At this moment, Fiona couldn't understand South Grant's abnormal behavior, but when she looked at Shawn Grant, her eyes flashed coldly.

He bullied her time and time again, and apparently, South Grant wasn't planning to stand up for her.

If she let him be, he would be a lifelong shame to her!

South Grant had a video. If it were discovered, her life would be over!

Now that Shawn Grant could not move, if she killed him now and coaxed South Grant to take the blame for her...

Fiona Grant began to sob softly, as if enduring immense pain.

"Sister, don't believe him. He won't keep his word. When he turns around, he'll tell grandpa and grandma your identity, and by then the family will kick us out."

South Grant slowly raised his head and fixed his gaze on Fiona Grant.

At this time, Fiona seemed innocent, with big eyes full of tears and panic.

Compared to her ten years later, she was still too naive now.

She clearly wanted to use a borrowed knife to kill someone, to make South Grant hide her identity and silence Shawn Grant.

It sounded like she was considering South Grant, but the panic in her eyes and the urgency on her face betrayed her.

How could he not see through such obvious manipulation in his previous life?

Only because familial affection blinded his eyes.

But the familial ties she valued so much weren't worth mentioning in Fiona's eyes.

"It's okay. Even if we're kicked out, I will skin him alive,"

said South Grant indifferently, then glanced at Fiona, "If you are resentful and want to kill him, I won't stop you. But I remind you, the police station is not a good place to stay."

Thinking of that year in prison, South Grant's eyes flickered.

"Sis, I'm a girl. If I went in, my life would be ruined..." Fiona sobbed while wiping her tears, "If mom were still here, she wouldn't let this beast bully me..."

Fiona knew that South Grant listened to their mother the most, which is why she said this now.

In the past life, South Grant took everything upon himself because of similar words from Fiona.

An elder sister was like a mother. She should have taken care of her younger siblings.

But during the year she was in prison, Fiona didn't care about Seth, who was young and autistic, and took the scholarship to go abroad.

When she got out, Seth became even more withdrawn, refusing to say a word.

At the time, she even believed Fiona went abroad to study medicine to cure Seth, which was utterly foolish!

Listening to the sisters planning to silence him, Shawn Grant was so frightened that he crawled toward the door, trembling.

"Shawn Grant."

A cool voice came, causing Shawn Grant to shudder all over.

"Remember your words today. If this matter gets out, you know what the consequences will be."

Fiona watched as South Grant let Shawn Grant go, her eyes reddening with anger.

"Sis, why did you let him go?" Fiona questioned her.

South Grant looked steadily at Fiona for a long while, then chuckled self-deprecatingly.

Fiona was somewhat at a loss from his laughter, "Sis... why are you laughing?"

At that moment, South Grant turned and fetched a Swiss Army Knife from the table outside, placed it in Fiona's hand.

"He won't get far. You can still catch up and kill him," South Grant's voice was cool, without a trace of fluctuation.

"But I'm scared..." Fiona trembled, tears streaming down, looking quite pitiful.

"Coincidentally, I am also afraid—afraid of the prison's chill, afraid of the gossip of the world, afraid of the callousness of human nature, more afraid..."

South Grant's eyes were full of confusion as they locked onto Fiona's, as if puzzled by why she was saying these things.

"Forget it."

South Grant turned around and left Fiona's room.

She went to see Seth Grant, who was asleep.

He was seven years old this year with severe autism.

South Grant caressed his cheek and began to cry as she did.

Seth seemed to sense someone beside him, rubbed his eyes, and woke up.

When he saw South Grant, his eyes lit up, but upon seeing her tears, he ran off the bed and fetched a large piece of drawing paper from a drawer on a nearby table, handing it to South Grant.

South Grant looked at the series of drawings, the first being a big tree sheltering a small sapling from behind.

When storms came, the tree stood firm and shielded the sapling beneath it.

In the second drawing, the sapling had grown, with even more lush foliage.

It extended its branches and leaves, tightly protecting the big tree that once sheltered it.

A line was written at the bottom of the drawing paper.

You raised me as I grew; I will protect you in your old age.

Seeing this series of drawings, South Grant's tears flowed even more.

Seeing South Grant weep, Seth awkwardly wiped her tears away; South Grant embraced her seven-year-old brother tightly.

"I will raise you as you grow, and you will protect me in my old age. Brother will wait for you to grow up!" South Grant choked out.

Seth soon fell asleep again, and South Grant sat in his room, her emotions unable to calm for a long time.

Her brother Seth Grant was the only bloodline of their father, Ian Grant, on this earth, her half-brother.

This matter was kept a secret by Ian Grant. Although his two brothers, Miles Grant and Shawn Grant, suspected that she was not Ian's biological child, Ian had someone forge a paternity test years ago, and everything remained peaceful since.

Now that their father was gone, South Grant vowed to fight for Seth's rightful inheritance, even if it meant risking everything.

Coming back to life in this regenerated world, she would not show any mercy again.

Returning to her room, she was changing her clothes when something fell out of her jeans pocket.

South Grant picked it up, finding it was a small USB drive.

South Grant frowned, unable to recall owning such a USB drive.

Curious, South Grant plugged the USB drive into her computer.

The USB required a password. After a thought, South Grant entered Nathan Foster's birth date, which then opened the USB drive.

The images that appeared next stunned her into a gasp.
